EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT - LUKE BEHRENS Luke Behrens is a Project Supervisor with Parks and Public Grounds. Luke has been employed with the City of Killeen since 2002. Luke previously was a grounds maintenance worker, project technician, and project crew leader with Parks and Public Grounds prior to occupying his current position. Luke has garnered much acclaim for his ability to “build anything”. If your child is enjoying one of the many playgrounds within our parks system, the odds favor that Luke either constructed the playground or oversaw the construction. While enjoying the green grass that adorns our fields, you can thank Luke for either installing or maintaining the irrigation systems that ensure the grass remains green. If you have ever enjoyed our Movies In the Park, you can thank Luke for setting up and ensuring that everything functions properly. Have your kids been spooked at Parks and Recreation’s annual Halloween Carnival? If so, you can thank Luke for constructing the Haunted House and Spooky Entry. Disc Golf anyone? In 2010 a Disc Golf course was constructed in Conder Park. Yes, Luke was responsible for the construction of the course. It is a common occurrence for all Parks and Recreation staff to call on Luke for any issue in athletics, recreation, fitness, or parks to help SOLVE the problem or BUILD the solution. Luke is respected by all of his peers for his IQ. Luke is also a certified playground installer. Luke’s expertise in construction has resulted in over $400,000 in cost savings for the City of Killeen. Luke never seeks praise, just results from his work. For his work ethic and numerous skills, Luke Behrens is the Spring / Summer Employee Spotlight for Killeen Parks and Recreation. Name: Luke Behrens Title: Project Supervisor                  Hobbies: Fishing  Favorite Sports Team: Green Bay Packers  Favorite Movie: Pulp Fiction

Killeen Parks and Recreation’s Adopt-A-Park program partners your favorite park(s) with community volunteers to assist in the general care, litter removal, and maintenance of parks in the City of Killeen. WHO CAN ADOPT-A-PARK?

Anyone interested in improving Killeen’s parks and contributing to the quality of life in Killeen! WHAT CAN BE ADOPTED?

Entire parks or sections of parks can be adopted at the discretion of Killeen Parks and Recreation. Sections of parks may include but are not limited to flower beds, trails, playgrounds, etc. WHAT CAN BE DONE IN ADOPTED AREAS?
