CELEBRATION: The Ukraine community in Killarney has enjoyed Irish culture events - now they want to share their culture with locals

“This year we will celebrate the 31st anniversary of the independence of our country and for the first time we will celebrate it outside it's borders. We are now under your protection and guardianship, both of the country and of the people. Every day we feel your support and we really appreciate it,” said Natalya Krasnenkova who has written to a number of local politicians seeking permission to run an event.

“That is why we want to spend the Independence Day of Ukraine together with the Killarney community and introduce you to our traditions and culture.”

This year Ukraine will celebrate the 31st Anniversary of its Independence from the former USSR following a declaration of Independence on August 24 1991 and backed up by referendum in December the same year.

Killarney is home to an estimated 1,500 Ukrainians and the number is set to grow in the coming weeks.

There are over 3,000 Ukrainians in Kerry with most of them based in either the Killarney or South Kerry area.

Killarney-based Ukrainians are seeking the help of local politicians and townspeople so they can mark their Independence day later this month.

They hope to put on a range of cultural events and many locally based Ukrainians will dress in traditional costumes and (if a permit is granted) parade

They hope to run an amateur concert by Ukrainians who are currently in Killarney, show a Ukrainian film with English subtitles and a craft fair.

“Also, we would like to involve all public and official institutions like city hall, banks, post office, and bars so that for one day, on August 24, they would place Ukrainian flags in their windows and on the streets. We want to be part of your community and will be happy to introduce local people to our country.”

London is coming home | By Sean Moriarty After several false starts the 50th Killarney London Reunion will go head on local soil this October.

The Killarney London Association celebrated its 50th anniversary in October 2019.

It was always intended to host the 50th annual dinner dance in Killarney and a date in October 2020 was secured.

However, the pandemic arrived and all plans were thrown into disarray.

At long last organisers on both sides of the Irish Sea are in a position to run the event.

It will take place on October 8 in the Dromhall Hotel and will form one of the

main events in the recently launched ‘An Turas Mór – Homecoming Kerry’ festival.

The month long gathering is a county wide initiative to bring home Kerry Diaspora during October this year.

It is presented by Kerry County Council as part of the Global Irish Festival Series which is a joint initiative between Fáilte Ireland and the Department of Foreign Affairs.

“An Turas Mór is a call home from all aspects of Kerry business, tourism, sports and cultural organisations spearheaded

by Kerry County Council to come home and enjoy close to forty events and activities that will take place throughout the County during the month of October this year,” said a council statement.

Serving as a home away from home for Killarney exiles, the Killarney London Association has gone from strength to strength over the last half century.

CONSTURCTION: David Shalloo is the Wastewater Regional Delivery Lead with Irish Water

Irish Water, working in partnership with Kerry County Council, has today commenced works to provide a new sewer collection system for Kilcummin village.

This project will reduce the reliance on on-site treatment systems such as septic tanks and package treatment plants.

Coffey Construction was appointed to deliver the works on behalf of Irish Water.

Once complete, the scheme will provide a new sewer collection system for Kilcummin village, that will ensure wastewater from the village is treated appropriately.

Once operational, the new sewerage scheme will connect into the sewer network in Killarney town, where it will be collected and transferred to Killarney wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) for appropriate treatment.

Construction of Kilcummin Water Scheme finally underway Speaking about the works, David Shalloo, Wastewater Regional Delivery Lead with Irish Water, said: “Today signals a new beginning for the people of Kilcummin and delivering this project for the community is an immense source of pride for Irish Water and Kerry County Council. All new infrastructure has been sized to accommodate future population growth and the project will enhance the local environment and provide a platform for social and economic development well into the future”.

The scheme will ensure compliance with wastewater discharge regulations. It will also improve water quality in the River Deenagh and Lough Leane and protect recreational waters for swimming, fish-

ing, boating and sightseeing, as well as protecting the integrity of the local environment. The new wastewater infrastructure will enhance local amenities and provide a platform for social and economic development.

The new sewerage infrastructure to be constructed as part of this scheme will include a sewer network for Kilcummin village, a pumping station, and approximately 6 kms of sewers. The scheme will reduce the reliance on on-site systems such as septic tanks and package treatment plants.

Works on the project are expected to commence late in 2022, with the entirety of the project due for completion in 2024.

Irish Water and Kerry County Council will continue to update the local community in Kilcummin as we progress our work on this project.

Irish Water is responsible for the delivery of all public water and wastewater services in Ireland. We are committed to continuously upgrading and developing critical infrastructure to support the growth needed in housing and across our economy, while protecting the environment and safeguarding water supplies.

Largest ever Cannonball is coming to Killarney | By Sean Moriarty The official route for Cannonball 2022 has been announced and it is confirmed that the supercar spectacle is coming back to Killarney on Friday September 9.

The event has already raised €1,298,779 for Irish charities and organisers are hoping to reach €250,000 for The HOPE Foundation by the end of September 2022. The rare super cars will arrive into Killarney to the Brehon Hotel at 6pm on Friday September 9 for the first finish line and depart on Saturday September 10th at 10.30am. Spectators in Killarney will get up close and personal with 200 of the finest cars on the planet and enjoy

Buckley’s album shortlisted for prestigious award Killarney superstar Jessie Buckley has been shortlisted for the 2022 Mercury Prize Album of the Year.

Killarney dog show returns after a paws

Her collaboration with Bernard Butler ‘For All Our Days That Tear the Heart’ is one of 12 albums shortlisted for the prestigious award which will be revealed in London on September 8.

“Neither of us really knew each other and it was actually a blessing in disguise because we met each other in the moment and trusted each other, took a leap of faith and in a way come in just the way we were and not because of who we are,” she told a press conference at the awards announcement in London last week.

The Killarney and District Canine Club’s annual dog show is back for the first time since 2019.

On August 16, the 39th annual All Breed Championship Show will take place in St Brendan’s College Sportsfield on Port Road.

It is the first time the event has been allowed go ahead since before the pandemic.

Killarney and District Canine Club should have celebrated the 40th run-

ning of the event this year but instead will have to wait another year to mark the milestone.

To facilitate the running of the event, the Cathedral car park is to close for a 24 hour period.

The car park will close at 7pm on August 15 and will re-open at 7pm on August 16.

Local man Mark Moriarty to be ordained a deacon on Sunday A Killarney man will be ordained a deacon by Bishop Ray Browne on Sunday.

The Killarney Parish has announced the Diaconate of Mark Moriarty and the celebration will take place in St Mary’s Cathedral at 3pm on Sunday.

A deacon is one step below a priest in church hierarchy. He will be posted to the Diocese of Kerry once ordained.

Mark has spent the last number of years in formation for the priesthood in St Patrick’s College, Maynooth Mark, a former student at St Brendan’s College is the son of well-known Legion GAA members Brian and Marjorie.

Tour de Munster set to roll into Killarney on Saturday Tour de Munster set to roll into Killarney on Saturday The four-day cycle, which starts and finishes in Cork city, is marking its 22nd anniversary and is the 13th time that the event will raise money for Down Syndrome Ireland.

The tour, which features Sean Kelly as its Ambassador, takes in all six counties in Munster, travelling anti-clockwise through Cork, Waterford, Tipperary, Limerick and Kerry before arriving back in Cork on Sunday next.

On Thursday the 600 cyclists will leave Cork at 730am and make their way to Killaloe in County Clare.

Day two will cover a route in Limerick, Clare and North Kerry ahead of an overnight stop in Tralee.

The Saturday route will take in Killarney.

After leaving Tralee the cyclists will cross the Conor Pass and head for Killarney via Inch and Castlemaine.

Cyclists are expected in Milltown around

2pm ahead of a rest stop at the Aghadoe Heights an hour later.

They will then stop off at the Denagh Cottage Café – operated by the Kerry branch of Down Syndrome Ireland – around 315pm before completing the Saturday leg with a run over Moll’s Gap and an overnight halt in Kenmare.

“The Munster branches of Down Syndrome Ireland are an extremely worthy beneficiary of the Tour and over the last 13 years of our partnership, we have received a huge amount of support from

5.08.2022 the six branches and families themselves who benefit from the funds raised. The amazing children and adults who rely on the services provided by their local DSI branches are the reason we put so much hard work in. Over the past 13 years, I have seen many members grow up to become wonderful young adults and to see what they achieve, big or small, spurs us on to keep the pedals spinning,” said Tour de Munster founder Paul Sheridan.

The final leg of the Tour will see the cyclists travel between Kenmare and the finish line in Cork City.

Last year saw the event raise its largest sum to date for DSI in Munster, a wonderful total of €522,201. These funds play a significant role for DSI who provide a range of vital supports and services to children and adults with Down Syndrome and their families.

Tributes to acclaimed artist Pauline Bewick Tributes have been to world acclaimed South Kerry artist, Pauline Bewick, who recently passed away last Friday.

The prodigious painter, and sculptor who also worked with fabric, lived most of her life in Treanmanagh on the shores of Caragh Lake.

Born in the UK, she settled in Kerry many years ago and is predeceased by her husband , Pat Melia.

President Michael D Higgins led the tributes.

He said: It is with such fondness that I look back on a visit to Pauline’s studio in Kerry last November. Sabina and I were so honoured to have this time with Paul-

ine and her daughters, in the presence of so much of her lifetime’s work - watercolours, tapestries, wall-hangings and sketches, all expressions of what was a unique and original creative talent. It was there to her studio in Kerry where she always returned and where Pauline spent so many years, between all her travels, with her family while producing works of astonishing artistic brilliance.

“In 2019, it was at a reception in Áras an Uachtaráin that Pauline was awarded with the Kerry Association in Dublin’s Arts award for her immense contribution to Irish arts and culture. We who had the privilege of her friendship could but admire her commitment to always follow-

ing her own path, reflecting on the world in her own unique way, refusing to fit into any one genre and creating worlds without boundaries.”

Local councillor Michael Cahill also paid tribute.

He said: “I extend my heartfelt sympathies to Pauline’s daughters Poppy and Holly on the passing of their mother and to all the extended Bewick and Melia families. We will all miss her great wit and insight into life, and she will live on in all her works of art that adorn homes and exhibitions throughout the world,” “Pauline’s love of Kerry was evident when she donated 200 of her art works to be exhibited at Killorglin Library in 2006.

The love of Pauline and her work is also evident by the number of homes locally, that have her water colours depicting nature in Kerry in all it’s beauty captured by her unique talent.”

MacGillycuddy's Reeks’ walking FUEL CRISIS: don’t trails to get funding THE KILLARNEY ADVERTISER SAYS

Walking trails in the MacGillycuddy Reeks are one of 12 tourism projects in Kerry that are set to benefit from new funding under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme.

Minister for Education and Kerry TD Norma Foley announced that €354,606 in funding will be made available for 12 key tourism projects across Kerry.

The finance is provided under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme which aims to provide investment to attract visitors to mountain trails, forest walks, rivers, lakes and beaches.

A total of €26,523 has been earmarked for works on the Hag’s Glen and Lower Cronins’ Yard tracks.

Minister Foley said: “I am delighted that this funding will help maintain, enrich and develop 12 key recreation and outdoor adventure facilities in local Kerry communities.

“Today’s announcement provides significant investment in the Kerry tourism industry with particular focus on maintaining our excellent outdoor adventure offerings. This funding will develop, enhance and support some of Kerry’s world-class outdoor tourist attractions.”

Other projects included in the scheme are: Ballyheigue Beach toilets upgrade: € 30,000; Maintenance to existing paths and wooded areas at Ballyseedy Wood: € 29,700; Develop Plan for Mount Brandon base, Faha, Cloghane: €49,950; Provision of seven additional beach wheelchairs to improve accessibility to Fenit, Ballyheigue and Rossbeigh: €25,601; Tralee upgrade at Bernard Brothers’ loop of the Glanageenty Walks: €24,702; Kingdom of Kerry greenways development of greenway website and develop a content pool: €30,000; Essential maintenance of Nun’s Wood, Trlaee and identification of potential for trail development: €27,900 Skellig Coast Showcase: €29,700; Rebranding Slí Ár Sinsear’ (The Way of our Ancestors) ancient pilgrim path on Kerry Way from Glenbeigh to Cahersiveen: €19,480; Drombohilly Stone Circle near Tuosist-route 35km of the Beara Way off-road: €30,000 and Tralee Ship Canal: €31,050.

Did you ever feel like you are been taken for a fuel?

Two separate news stories, one international and one released by the Irish Government confirm that we are been taken for a ride.

Earlier this week the United Nations revealed that the combined profits of the largest energy companies in the first quarter of this year are close to $100 billion.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres slammed the big oil companies, he called them “immoral” and accused them of “grotesque greed”.

“It is immoral for oil and gas companies to be making record profits from this energy crisis on the backs of the poorest people and communities and at a massive cost to the climate,” he said.

“I urge all governments to tax these excessive profits and use the funds to support the most vulnerable people through these difficult times,” This is the same week that our own government announced record tax receipts.

The state netted €43.5 billion in corporate tax, VAT and income tax for the first seven months of the year.

Of course none of this is reflected in the prices we are all paying for petrol and diesel at the moment and while pump prices are beginning to fall it still costs far too much to fill an average family car.

Fuel prices dictate the price of everything, higher energy prices mean the cost of delivering food to shops and hotels increases dramatically. We all know the average food basket costs more than this time last year and have you tried paying for a hotel room in Ireland this summer?

But never mind they ordinary punter once the big oil companies and the government can boast about record profits.

We will hear every excuse, like the war in Ukraine to post COVID-19 re-adjustment as the cause of increased energy costs.

It seems those who are fuelling – if you pardon the pun – the rise in energy costs are those who are chasing profit and are not in it for the general good of the people.

Beginning at 12 noon each Saturday, Kenmare Place/Main Street will close from the Mission Road junction to the junction of Main Street and New Street until 8am on Monday mornings.

These closures will continue every Satur-

day to Monday until the first weekend in September.

Bollards will be put in place at the Kenmare Place junction with Main St every Saturday and removed again every Monday morning.

Traffic will divert from Kenmare Place on to Mission Road, Beech Road and on to New Street.

National Park come alive this August with talks, walks and exhibitions Killarney National Park is one of six such parks, nationally, that will put on an extended programme of events for the month of August.

The parks will offer a programme of public events on topics as varied as plant life, bats and history.

Throughout August, visitors will be able to engage with the history, plant and animal life of national parks through a diverse programme of events.

Visitors can expect to learn about topics like the natural life blooming in the parks, with talks, free guided walks and workshops on wildflowers, bats, poetry and the parks’ history.

Here’s a snapshot of what’s on offer at

Killarney National Park this month.

The Killarney National Park photography competition is an exciting way to celebrate Heritage Week 2022 and, in keeping with the theme for this year, the title is ‘Our History, Our Future’.

Heritage Week is all about sustainability; sustainability of our natural and built heritage. Killarney National Park wants to see young people’s interpretation of our beautiful landscape. In addition to the photograph, they’re asking for a short story (no more than 250 words) to ac-

company the image; what is it and why is it important.

The park is also coming to your small screens through a new app called Ciar’s Quest has been launched this summer; Ciar’s Quest uses augmented reality to bring to life the rich folklore and heritage of County Kerry. Ciar is a descendant of the O’Connor Chieftain Ciar, the founder of the Kingdom of Kerry, and his adven-

turous quest is to find the Kingdom’s rich wildlife and to seek the hidden gems.

Ciar is based on Ross Island and the app invites you to join in his treasure hunt. A treasure map will guide you to the special marker posts, simply hold your phone in front of it and watch the magic happen!

The app can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play.

Olga Tkachenko: My resilience in life is the ability to see only the good | By Natalya Krasnenkova Olga Tkachenko and I run five kilometres every Saturday with the Killarney House Parkrun.

This fragile and smiling woman always runs easily and beats me every time.

It seems that everything in her life is as easy as jogging.

But this is not quite so.

Olga grew up in Donetsk city, Donbass region. Her sister Maryna and parents lived here. A large and friendly family, they owed a holiday home in the region and would gather there for vacations and holidays. This house was a symbol of this family.

In 2014, Russian troops entered Donetsk and drove their military equipment right into the yard of the house.

From here they started shelling the Donetsk airport.

Soon the house was completely destroyed. All that remains of the house are two walls and a few pots. The family nest was devastated. Her sister Maryna tried to save the surviving property and came under fire. Fortunately, she was not injured.

Olga moved her parents to another place, and she went to Kyiv with her husband and children. All they took with them were two laptops and a few warm things. Life had to start from scratch.

Olga's sister Maryna moved to Dnipro city, where she found a new job.

The sisters went their separate ways, but still maintained a very close relationship, calling and supporting each other every day.

same last name – Tkachenko.

They have children two months apart. Olga jokes that she and her sister have a topic to talk about - their common father-in-law and motherin-law.

Having lost their homes in 2014 due to Russia's military aggression in Donbas, the sisters built their lives in two different cities - Irpen (near Kyiv) and Dnipro. But when the war broke out in 2022, they found themselves together again.

The sisters managed to board an

evacuation train bound for Poland.

Again, they only had one bag each and a one-way ticket.

"Fear drove us as far as possible. The main goal was to save the children.

We did not know where we were going. We wanted to escape as far as possible from the war and the borders of Russia," says Olga.

After staying in a refugee camp in Poland for several days, they decided to go to Ireland.

Were they worried about going into the unknown?

But Olga says that when she is together with her sister, it gives both women confidence and stability. Together, it's not so scary anymore.

Olga says that it is impossible to get used to the fact that you lose your home every time and get used to life. It is impossible to accept that everything has to be started from new.

But she has one secret of resilience - the ability to see the good in the circumstances in which you find yourself.

Here in Killarney Olga focuses on the beautiful nature, she learns a new language, and goes jogging. She never regrets.

Olga's sister Maryna Tkachenko has already found a job and works in as a designer in Killarney. The sisters help each other a lot and are very worried about their parents and grandmother, who remaine in Ukraine.

"Our parents spent a month under the occupation of Russian troops in a village near Kyiv. My 70-year-old mother, as in 2014, went to negotiate with Russian soldiers and persuaded them not to shoot. We are glad that our parents' house survived this time.

Because in 2014 we already lost one home. Our parents would not have survived this a second time," adds Olga.

That is why she will soon go back to Ukraine.

She explains her motives: "I want to be where I am most needed. My eldest daughter, parents and grandmother are in Ukraine. My daughter works as a volunteer every week, clearing the rubble of buildings, so I want to help my country as well. After dismantling the ruins, we will see our beautiful country again."

Якось вони зустріли стадо кіз, які паслися на височини. Тварини втекли в гори, лише один козел відірвався і по-

прямував Кіллоргліна. Його прибуття сповістило мешканців про наближення небезпеки. Місцеві негайно взялися захищати себе та своє село. Кажуть, що на знак визнання послуги, виконаної козлом, люди вирішили заснувати спеціальне свято на його честь, і це свято проводиться досі. Також, щороку з однієї з початкових шкіл навколишнього району обирають дівчину, яка стане королевою ярмарку, Puck Queen.

Great success for local dancers at British National Championships

Alexandria Scally Champion Under 6

Local dancers have returned from the British National Championships, which were held in Bolton.

Eight dancers from the Aine Murphy School which is based in Gneeveguilla. travelled to the event.

The school returned with three Champions, one second place, one third place, one fifth place.

The Champions included Alexandria Scally who was crowned the British National Champion Under 6. Alexandria is from Killarney Marcus O’ Sullivan was crowned the British National Champion Under 9.

Marcus was also crowned the Irish National Champion in June and is also the reigning Munster and All-Scotland Champion. Marcus is from Firies.

Caoimhe O’Halloran was crowned the British National Champion Under 15.

This is to add to the World Title Caoimhe won at Easter becoming the 1st female

Irish dancer to bring a World Title to Kerry. She is also the reigning All-Ireland and Munster Champion. Caoimhe is from Kilcummin.

“To add to these fabulous wins the other dancers to bring silverware back to Kerry were, Brían Hurley who was second in the Under 9 Boys, Réidín Ni Laoithe from Kilbrean, Killarney who was third in the Under 6 competition and Isabelle O’Sullivan from Rathmore was fifth in the Under 8 age group,” Aine explained to the Killarney Advertiser.

“Saoirse Griffin and Katie Heneghan were also medal winners in their respective age groups.”

The dancers will now continue the hard work for the All-Scotland and Great Britain Championships in October and the Munster Championships in November.

All the fun of the fair Bird's Funfair hosted its annual Children's Carnival for the first time since 2019.

One of the highlights of the Carnival was the nomination of a local hero.

Through the Killarney Advertiser, Bird's Funfair invited local children to name their hero.

"It was fantastic to be able to hold it

again this year," Laurie Bird told the Killarney Advertiser.

The number of hours you can work and the types of jobs you can do, depends on your age.

Young workers are people aged 14 to 18, who work for an employer. As young workers are generally in full-time education, they are protected by different employment laws than adults. This is to make sure their work does not put their health or education at risk.

The working hours for young people are regulated by the Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Act 1996. The Act does not apply to children or young people who are employed by a close relative.

Q: How many hours can I work?

Employers cannot employ children under 16 in regular full-time jobs. They can employ children aged 14 and 15 years on light work as follows: Children aged 14 or over can do light work during the school holidays where the hours do not exceed 7 in any day or 35 in any week.

Children over 15 but under 16 can do light work up to 8 hours a week during school term time.

Children under 16 must have at least 21

days off work during the summer holidays.

Children aged 16 to 18 can work a maximum of 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week.

Q: What breaks am I entitled to?

Workers under 16 are entitled to 30 minutes rest break after every 4 hours of work and 14 consecutive hours off between shifts.

Workers over 16 are entitled to a 30 minutes rest break for every 4.5 hours of work and 12 consecutive hours of between shifts.

Submissions for Kenmare District Local Area Plan invited Fianna Fáil Councillor, Michael Cahill has urged members of the public in Kenmare Municipal District to consider forwarding a submission to the proposed Kerry County Council Local Area Plan.

Dance performances at Kerry schools Elysia McMullen and Luisa Schmitz formed Bill and Fred Productions in 2020. They perform as Bill and Fred - a clown duo who merge dance, clowning, circus and theatre. They were in Kerry recently, bringing their show Bill and Fred’s Adventures to a number of schools.

The performances were facilitated by Kerry County Council’s dancer in residence, Catherine Young. The residency is funded by Kerry County Council and the Arts Council and supported by Creative

Ireland Kerry.

“It’s really important that children have an opportunity to experience live performance by dance artists, as well as also getting a chance to dance and move themselves,” says Catherine Young.

“I had seen Bill and Fred perform for a young audience in Limerick and I knew they would bring a show full of fun and energy to Kerry school children.”

The schools visited were Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn and Presentation Primary School in Tralee and Gaelscoil Lios Tuathail in Listowel. Each school was treat-

ed to a performance and a dance workshop afterwards.

“It was engaging, interactive, funny, entertaining and had a little message too which was lovely and meaningful for the children,” says Helena Hennessy, Assistant Principal and Arts Co-ordinator at Presentation Primary, Tralee. “They loved it. They were talking about it for the rest of the day. They were asking me afterwards when would Bill and Fred be coming back!”

“They were absolutely blown away by the dancing performance,” says Séana

Ní Chuain, Principal at Gaelscoil Lios Tuathail. “We didn't know what to expect, but the pupils thought they were brilliant and hadn't seen anything as creative as it before. In my own house, my daughters told me they want to be dancers after seeing it!”

“We were delighted to have Elysia and Luisa with us under the dancer in residence programme – this was a great opportunity for children to access free dance performance and learn about movement in a relaxed and fun-filled way,” says Kate Kennelly, Arts Officer with Kerry County Council.

Research shows improved genetics reduces cattle emissions Results from a collaborative research project between ABP Food Group, Teagasc and Irish Cattle Breeding Federation have shown that significant reduction in Irish beef cattle emissions is achievable by improving genetics in the beef herd with emission reduction of up to 13% possible.

The research has also led to improved returns for farmers of up to €200 per animal. The findings have the potential to play a significant role in helping Ireland’s agriculture sector reach the targets set out under the Climate Act and are applicable across different beef production systems.

ABP’s Demonstration Farm and is based on six years of data and involves over 4,000 animals. The output from the research is already being shared with

farmers across the country through the ICBF data base with over 233,000 calves born and reared on Irish farms bred from beef bulls from the pro-

gramme. Improved genetics allows the animals to grow faster through better feed conversion and as a result they are ready for market at a younger age reducing emissions significantly.

Minister of State with responsibility for research and innovation Martin Heydon said: “Irish grass-based beef systems are among the most sustainable production models in the world. The work of our farmers, coupled with collaboration from industry partners like ABP, Teagasc, and ICBF will be central to strengthening Ireland’s position as a world leader in beef production. As demonstrated on this farm, adoption of cutting-edge research and technologies can deliver for both emissions reductions and farmers’ bottom lines.”

Popularity of Ladies Gaelic Football on the rise

According to official TAM Ireland figures, 491,000 tuned into TG4’s coverage of the TG4 Ladies Football finals on Sunday with an average audience of 204,900 people watching the live broadcast of the Senior Final between Meath and Kerry.

The match had a 30.6% share of viewing among individuals. Viewing peaked at 5.10pm with 279,800 viewers as Meath closed in on the two in a row to retain the Brendan Martin Cup. A total 46,400 attended the match in person in Croke Park on Sunday, the first TG4 Ladies Football Final to have full capacity allowance since 2019.

Viewers from over 50 countries tuned into the finals on the TG4 Player with 14,000 streams of the game from international viewers. Over 20,000 streams were also registered from Irish viewers.

EV Charging and Accommodation Fianna Fáil Councillor, Michael Cahill has suggested that if officials in the Departments of Tourism and Transport were seeking initiatives common to both, and supportive of a cleaner environment, they should be looking to introduce additional funding support, other than SEAI grants, to encourage B&Bs, hotel and guest house owners to install Electric Vehicle Chargers to be availed of by their guests.

“This could be the simple way to extend the network of EV chargers throughout the country, encourage the changeover to EV transport and provide a service to those already driving EVs. Environmen-

tally and business wise, this appears to be the way to go and we need to facilitate it in whatever way possible," said Councillor Cahill.

“Currently a visitor to Glenbeigh, where I live, driving an EV, will need to travel 13km to Killorglin and queue there to use one of the two chargers. This is less than ideal, while a charger at the place they are staying would alleviate a lot of the pressure of planning one’s road trip," added the Rossbeigh based Councillor.

“If we can encourage many of the proprietors of these B&Bs, hotels and guest houses to install EV chargers, we will help our Tourism business, we will help the Environment, while also reducing queues at our Public charging points.”

Mary O’Connell from Aghadoe got a great surprise this week when she received a call from Killarney Credit Union to find out she had won a brand new Suzuki Swift 1.2 Hybrid SZ-5 in the Killarney Credit Union members draw.

Mary picked up the keys of her new car

from Shane Foley and Elma Culloty of Killarney Credit Union this week accompanied by family.

Speaking about the members draw, Karena McCarthy, Killarney Credit Union Marketing Officer said: “We currently have just over 2,400 members in the draw which is held twice a year.

Our prizes include a new car and cash prizes ranging from €250 to €2,000, our next draw will take place in January 2023,” Members can apply for the members draw at any of the branches or apply online on www.killarneycu.ie. €12 will be taken from the members account twice

Rose of Tralee street entertainment schedule launched The new look Rose of Tralee International Festival has released a full programme of events for the August 19 to 23 event.

New for 2022 include a new headquarters hotel, The Meadowlands Hotel and the Rose Ball will take place in the Kerry Sports Arena at the Munster Technological University, But as much as thing change, things also stay the same.

A full programme of street entertainment includes performances by Mundy and country music star Cliona Hagan.

The Festival Dome will be situated in the Abbey Car Park and Bird’s Funfair will operate from a town centre location.

The Town Park will host Féile na mBláth – a family orientated festival that will run alongside the main event.

Club Championships back in full swing

Senior sides ready for road as club action takes centre stage Figures in the national media might be resisting the idea but, like it or not, the intercounty campaign is now firmly in the rearview mirror.

The GAA’s first ever split season has officially entered the club phase and those of us hanging for a fix of football will be going local for the rest of 2022.

From a Kerry person’s perspective, it will be very hard to top the month of July and those long-awaited victories over Dublin and Galway, but our own Club Championships rarely disappoint when it comes to quality, intrigue and sheer drama. I’m sure this year will be no different.

The Senior Club Championship gets underway this Saturday with Group 1 matches between Spa and Dingle

(Strand Road) and between Na Gaeil and Kenmare Shamrocks (Lewis Road).

Both matches are at 7pm. Kenmare will be aiming for their third consecutive final – they lost the previous two to Austin Stacks – and with Kerry star Seán O’Shea pulling the strings they should have enough to earn a top two finish and a spot in the semi-final.

Dingle, who recently secured another County League Division 1 title, will also fancy their chances, although don’t rule out newcomers Na Gaeil and relative newcomers Spa from pulling off an upset or two.

Group 2 gets underway on Sunday at 1pm as defending champions Austin Stacks take on Templenoe (Derreen)

and, in a repeat of last year’s ill-tempered Kerry SFC semi-final, Dr Crokes go up against Kerins O’Rahillys (Castleisland).

That Killarney v Tralee clash promises to be the tie of the round as Crokes will be eager to exact some kind of payback for the tough defeat they suffered at Rahillys’ hands last November.

A couple of Intermediate Club Championship fixtures were played last weekend. Legion got their promotion drive off to a positive start by beating Laune Rangers in Beaufort with six points to spare; well-taken goals by Ryan O’Grady and Will Shine proved decisive. The other two teams in Group 2 – Dromid and John Mitchels – face off on Saturday at 7pm.

Rathmore also got their Intermediate campaign off to a winning start as they had a double scores victory over St Mary’s Cahersiveen in Glenbeigh.

Meanwhile, Kerry heroes David Clifford and Paudie Clifford were in action for Fossa in the Junior Premier Championship. The younger Clifford kicked 1-9 (1-2 from play) and Paudie added a point as their boys defeated Listowel Emmets by 1-14 to 0-10 in Killeen.

SQUAD: The Singapore Valkyries team that participated in the North American International 7s tournament in Utah. Six players from Killarney RFC lined out with the Valkyries as they won the plate final.

Six U16 girls from Killarney and Killorglin recently participated in the North American International 7s tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The girls combined with six girls from Singapore to represent the Singapore Valkyries team. Drawn in the pool of death against last year’s winners and the eventual 2022 champions, the girls couldn’t have had a tougher start in the searing Utah summer heat, which got up to 40 degrees at times.

The Valkyries played three pool games on day one and qualified for the quarter-finals against Belmont from California, a side that was comprised of some phenomenally talented girls, two of whom are on the USA U18 squad. Valkyries are women warriors from Norse mythology and they certainly lived up to their name by going 14-0 against the tournament hot favourites.

Killarney girls shine at American 7s tournament Unfortunately, the girls just fell short and ended up losing on a scoreline of 22-14.

Next up was the plate semi-final and they duly put in another good performance to qualify for the final.

In the final, the combined Kerry/Singapore team got off to a very strong start and never slowed down, eventually running out 38-10 winners. The six girls who all play for local club Killarney RFC were Ali O’Donoghue, Ava O’Malley, Clodagh Foley, Fia Whelan, Katie O’Donoghue and Maria Eagar.

“The girls had a trip of lifetime to the US,” coach Diarmuid O’Malley said. “Some of the rugby was of the highest of standards against very good opponents. Our first

game was against the team who eventually won the tournament, and we then got drawn against them in the quarter-finals. We definitely gained their respect in that match as the improvement in our performance from one day was incredible.

“The eventual winners got the shock of their lives by the quality of our play and unfortunately we just ran out of steam.

“Post that game I had a good chat with the coach of the team who beat us, who himself was from New Zealand and most of his girls were also of New Zealand decent. He had actually played under Joe Schmidt and he said that they really did get a mighty shock by how good the qual-

ity of our rugby had been throughout the game.

“Considering we only had two training sessions in the prior two days before the tournament started, it was so rewarding to see the way the girls from two different sides of the world integrated so well and competed so well against teams who had put in a lot of time preparing for the biggest annual tournament in the USA. “Not only did the girls return with such good memories and learnings from their trip, but more importantly they created new friendships for life. A huge shout-out to the parents of the girls and all the local support we received in advance to make this ambitious trip possible.”

Kerry U13s to host rivals at Rose Cup The Rose Cup is back for 2022 and it was launched recently at the Rose Wall in the Tralee Town Park where six of this year’s Rose contestants joined members of the Kerry girls’ squad, their head coach Siobhán Cushen and Director of Girls Football Noel White.

The inaugural Rose Cup took place in 2019 when the Kerry Schoolboys/Girls League (KSBGL) teamed up with the International Rose of Tralee committee to host an U13 inter-league tournament.

The Clare Schoolboys & Girls Soccer League were the first winners and their captain Keelan Madden was presented with the trophy by the then Rose of Tralee Kirsten Mate Maher on the Denny

Street stage ahead of the Rose Parade.

The event will take place on August 20 with Tralee Dynamos FC the hosts. Taking part alongside Kerry will be teams from the Metropolitan Girls League (Dublin), Clare, Cork, West Cork, South Tipperary and Limerick.

The Rose Cup and Shield will be presented to the captains on the stage on Denny Street ahead of the Rose Parade that night.

Chair of the KSBGL Aidan Murnane said the League was delighted to renew its association with the Rose of Tralee.

No joy for Kingdom against really strong Royal outfit Eamonn Fitzgerald reflects on the Kerry ladies’ heartbreaking defeat to Meath in the All-Ireland football final The improbable dream of Kerry football All-Irelands in consecutive Sundays never looked like becoming a reality when Kerry ladies were beaten by Meath at Croker on Sunday last.

Reigning champions Meath showed that last year’s feat of stopping Dublin from recording five-in-a-row was no flash in the pan.

Kerry were back in the All-Ireland final for the first time since 2012 and were very reliant on Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh, their top scorer. However, they were not fazed by the reputation of Meath and they got off to a flying start.

They surprised the Meath defence in the 6th minute when ageless Kerry veteran Ní Mhuircheartaigh pounced for a goal.

Managers Declan Quill and Darragh Long had decided on a full press on the Meath kickout and it reaped early dividends when Louise outwitted Monica McGuirk.

piled on the pressure and went into a commanding lead as they crowded out and blunted the threat of the Árd na Caithne lady.

It looked ominous for Kerry but they fought and were happy enough to be just 1-8 to 1-5 in arrears at half-time.

They were well in contention but Meath, led by Vikki Wall who is on her way to North Melbourne and the AFLW, killed off Kerry with goals.

It was disappointing for Kerry but Dar-

ragh Long put the season in context and where they have come from in the past three years. They won the league defeating Armagh in the final.

They are back in Division 1 and will be serious contenders for next year’s championship. One must also give due credit to former brilliant Kerry players Anne Marie O'Donoghue, Geraldine O'Shea, Cassandra Buckley, and Sophie Houlihan.

Well done Kerry ladies, all 36 of you on the panel. Meath are tops now taking

over from Dublin and Cork. However, nothing compares with Kerry of the past when they completed that unbelievable nine-in-a-row.

The best of them all was Beaufort’s Mary Jo Curran, who won 10 All-Irelands and 11 All-Stars, which even Pat Spillane could not match. Mary Jo retired from teaching recently. Go gcúitítear do shaothar leat, Mary Jo. 44,440 was the attendance at Croke Park. Hasn’t the ladies football caught the imagination of the Irish sports lovers? Maith sibh, uile.

ONE THAT GOT AWAY

When Kerry won their 37th All-Ireland in 2014 the team was co-captained by Kieran O’Leary and Fionn Fitzgerald. Kerry were on a roll in the minor grades at the same time, going on to win five in a row.

The future looked very rosy for managers Jack O’Connor and Peter Keane, who went on to manage the county senior teams.

With such a steady flow of minor stars to senior ranks, it seemed only a matter of time before Kerry would win their 38th.

But why did it take four years to achieve the natural progression? Why do good minors not commit to the Kerry senior panel? Some emigrate, or move to another sport, or drop out of sport completely. Most go to college, where academic progress is more important than the near professional demands of time and energy with the Kerry panel. Injuries or plain loss of interest are other excuses for the fall off from minor ranks.

When one studies the five Kerry minor All-Ireland winning panels, the above still do not satisfy me to explain why senior success did not come much earlier. One very important reason - though not the whole reason - is that one of the greatest Kerry minors of that golden era emigrated to Australia to ply his skills in the AFL. Mark O’Connor from the Dingle club was a star minor and how well we remember him; the 6 foot 3 inches high fielding midfielder won consecutive minor All-Irelands in 2014 and in 2015. In the ‘15 final he captained Kerry and won the Man of the Match award. Micheál Burns won the same award in 2014. Mark also won two Hogan Cups with his school Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne in the same years.

His physique, fielding ability and temperament were quickly noted by the Aussie scouts and they convinced him that he would make it big as a professional in Australia.

Kennelly and Tommy Walsh were the standout Kerry players who went to Australia and were hugely successful, especially the former. They did, of course, come back to win an Al -Ireland with Kerry.

David Moran was outstanding in 2014.

However, in subsequent years he could not dominate midfield play. After all he suffered two cruciate injuries that would hasten early retirement for most players. And still he laboured as Kerry tried a fair share of midfielders, but too often it was left to the old fella from Strand Road to win primary possession for Kerry.

The foot soldiers didn’t cut the mustard and consequently Kerry didn’t win the vital midfield battles. The Dubs took over. Brian Fenton in particular became the number 1 midfielder in the country and the most valuable link to set the Dubs on the road to victories. Moran tried hard but the injuries caught up with him and when Kerry was bidding for All-Irelands, Dingle’s Mark O’Connor was starring with Geelong. He was a rookie in 2016 and progressed up the line quickly.

When interviewed he said: “I want to play for Kerry down the line. That essen-

tially was my dream when I was a young lad but this came up and I thought it was an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down. Whenever it is, I want to come back and play for my club and hopefully my county if they want me.

“The way I looked at it was even if I come back from Australia I’ll be stronger, I’ll be fitter, I’ll be faster, I’ll get a bit of education while I’m there. I just thought I would be the better for it overall, that even if I did come back to Dingle and Kerry I would be a better player and athlete. I didn’t really see it as a loss but as an opportunity to improve myself and that’s why I went.”

In 2019 he played 23 times for Geelong and 21 times in 2020. When that season ended Geelong allowed him to play back in Ireland in the off-season.

It seemed as if his dream came through until summer 2020 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh and that late winner by Mark Keane, another returned Aussie player.

“I remember watching it (2020 Munster final in Cork,) with my family, Kerry, and Cork – again, horrific weather. But I was kind of giggling towards the end, I was like, ‘Lovely, this is huge. This is finally about to happen for me’.

“Nobody spoke and everybody just looked at me and I didn’t know where to look or what to do. I was like, ‘That is just heartbreaking.'”

The O’Connor dream didn’t come through. Kerry won without him. Da-

vid Moran played his part in his parting glass and would not have been taken off until later in the second half but for a tough bout of tonsillitis in the week coming up to the match. His stamina was suspect.

Will Mark O’Connor win an All Ireland senior medal with Kerry? After all, he is only 25 years old. Hope springs eternal.

Stefan Okunbor went to Australia but returned to be a sub with Kerry in the final.

Still in Australia is Deividas Uosis, the 21-year-old Lithuanian-born Dingle club man who speaks fluent Irish, and won his All-Ireland minor medal in goal for Kerry.

The Aussies were also impressed by 17-year-old Seánie O’Shea and David Clifford. Fortunately for Kerry, neither went to Australia and they played key roles in bringing back Sam. O’Shea’s mighty winning kick between the posts in front of Hill 16 sent Kerry into the final.

Big David made it a ‘David Clifford’ final scoring, eight points to defeat Galway.

Why did they stay?

Former AFL star Troy Selwood, the football and sports performance coach at Geelong Grammar School, said that he approached O’Shea about possibly pursuing a playing career in Australia.

They met in a café in Cork in 2018 – the year before the Kenmare star lined out with Kerry in the All-Ireland final – and

spoke to him about joining Geelong.

O’Shea listened, but the prospect of an All-Ireland was too compelling.

David Clifford was hot property after the minor All–Irelands of 2016 and 2017. In those two finals he scored 1068, 10-50 of which came from play.

He scored four goals in a Man-of-theMatch performance against Derry in that final. Since that game, Clifford has won three All-Stars before he won his first senior All–Ireland recently.

The AFL scout approached Clifford and reported back. He said: “David is unbelievable, I watched him in the final and he’s a very good player. I’m sure he’d adapt quickly.”

Clifford's physique, athleticism and poise were the big attractions for the Aussie scouts, but they failed to get Clifford to sign up. Jokingly, Clifford said, “My mother wouldn’t let me go”.

Weren’t Kerry lucky that Seánie and David weren’t lured away with the prospect of making big money?

I contend that if Mark O’Connor had stayed we would have won the two All-Irelands that were allowed get away. Don’t rule out Mark O’Connor returning. After all, he is just 25 years old. There are currently 13 Irish players playing in Australia.

All Kerry need is one to return. The correct one.

This week Adam Moynihan met Killarney sprinter Sarah Leahy at the Killarney Valley AC Arena to chat about her recent appearance at the World Championships, her goals for the rest of the year, and a very special pair of socks Hi Sarah. Thanks for showing me around Killarney Valley’s facilities. It’s an impressive set-up…

The track facilities here are perfect. We have everything we need and Killarney Valley are always looking to improve the facilities and the club itself. All the people behind the scenes at are the MVPs, people like Jerry and Tomás Griffin, Jean Courtney, and Bríd Stack to mention just a few.

You recently competed in the World Championships in Oregon as part of the Irish 4 x 100m relay team, finishing eighth in your heat. How did you feel the event went for you?

We're very proud of each other, and we did well, but we definitely could have run better. We had more. We were aiming for and felt we were capable of running a national record. But on the day, it just didn't happen. So we ran the best we could on the day, but there was definitely more in us.

Personally, it was a great experience. I loved every second of it. But I will admit that the actual running part is a bit of a blur. I came onto the track and there's this huge stadium, but I was more looking around at the people I was running against. Ewa Swoboda – I thought she’d win the World Indoor - she was four people away from me and I was looking at her… She was probably like, ‘Why is this woman staring at me?’ I was very nervous. But it was still amazing and I hope I can do it again.

The fact that I was running against international athletes that have been to the

Olympics and been finalists, I was kind of star struck. My trainers are like, okay Sarah, calm down. You're meant to be here.

Don't act like you shouldn't.

Can you describe your mindset before a race? Do you often get nervous?

On the line it's all about how you're feeling, what you can do. You just have to get mentally prepared for a good start. Especially for me. Get out, and run as fast as you can. Just getting in the zone, I guess.

I’ll know if I'm not in the zone, because I’m thinking of other things. If I'm on the blocks my head shouldn't be wandering. It should be blank and all I should be waiting for is that gun.

5.08.2022 yourself as ultra competitive?

I'm a competitive person, obviously.

Otherwise, I wouldn't be competing at this level. But I also come from a team background, and I’m friends with a lot of these girls, so I want them to do well as well. And if they happen to beat me, fair play. You put in the training, you did very well. I'm very happy for you.

We all kind of get prepared differently. A lot of people for the warm-up, which is an hour or half an hour before the race, have the earphones on, gameface on, not talking to anyone, not smiling at anyone. I’m completely different. The more nervous I am, the more I’m going to talk.

There was a situation in Greece where everyone had their earphones on and I was mad to talk to everyone. That could change but as of right now I do tend to talk a lot. And then, going on to the track, obviously there's no more talking. You’re getting ready for the race and mentally preparing.

Tell me about the socks you wore in Oregon.

My socks were a Valentine's Day gift from my boyfriend, Daniel. They had his face all over them and they say ‘I love you’. So yeah, I just ran the Worlds with my boyfriend’s face on my feet. He was delighted!

Daniel was the person who pushed for me to go back to running. He knew I was no longer enjoying the football and he heard the way I spoke about athletics. He helped me make the decision to go back.

It was the best decision so it was only right I wore the socks and he was there in some way. I probably wouldn’t have been there without him.

Did you have some of your own supporters over there?

Yes, my mom and dad (Marie and Mike) actually travelled over. They spent the week and it was unreal to have them there. And then my cousins from Vancouver in Canada drove down which was I think over 10 hours. I was actually warming up before the relay

and then I saw and heard my family with all their Kerry jerseys, Irish jerseys, Irish flags, roaring my name. That was really nice.

What’s the plan for the rest of 2022?

I'm almost finished the season. I have yet to find out about Europeans - hopefully we're going to be sending a team, and hopefully I’ll be on it. We are qualified as a 4 x 100 relay. And the men are actually also qualified. So if we were sent to the Worlds, hopefully they’ll send us to this.

I do think we'll perform better [this time].

We should find out within the week. I think we should have a very strong team if all the girls I'm thinking of are available.

We'd have a very good chance over there to at least get to a final.

You’re moving to Dublin for work later this year. How will this affect your training?

I might have to change coaches again, which I'm a bit sad about because I really liked the Limerick training group (Leahy was in UL where she trained with the Harrisons). I think I performed well and I loved the training. I was surrounded by the right people who were really lovely.

I hope to find a group like that in Dublin and keep running well and performing better.

And what about next season?

As for the indoors, I'd like another good season. I was talking to Lauren Roy in Stockholm and she told me that I have the European standard in the 60m from last year. Which I didn't know! So that's kind of in my head now to try and get there, to improve my time. I think I could actually run faster. I ran 7.39 and I'd like to run at least 7.30, hopefully get another European standard, and actually go to the Europeans. I think it's in Germany.

That'd be my target.

And then next summer, there's the Worlds again, because of COVID. So it'd be nice to continue making the Irish relays and definitely improve my time, because there's more. I can definitely run faster over 100.

What is your current PB in the 100m?

Are you close to bettering it?

I ran 11.67, which I was delighted with. But it was my first run of the season. It's quite rare that you run a PB in the season opener. But I ran it, and I haven't ran it since.

The closest was 11.70 in Switzerland. So I definitely think there's more in there. And I think I have a lot to learn as well. I'm still new to the sport and I’m a powerful kind of runner. I was doing a lot of gym work at the beginning of the year, before I ran my PB, and then afterwards usually people taper it off. So I did what other people do. I think that affected my running a little bit. I'm slightly weaker. So I've learned that maybe next year I shouldn’t do that.

Then hopefully I’ll be running PB after PB, instead of just a one-off.

Killarney Legion GAA MEN: Our Senior Men got their Intermediate Club Championship bid off to a winning start overcoming a lively and gallant Laune Rangers side in splendid sunshine in Beaufort. Although victorious there were still enough wrinkles to iron out in the weeks ahead but as with all Championship an opening day win is imperative.

KERRY LADIES: Hard luck to the Ladies who were beaten by All-Ireland Champions Meath in last Sunday's decider.

Despite getting off to a dream start the experienced and more physical Meath team eventually wore them down to run out winners. They can feel very proud of their years efforts and getting back into the All-Ireland conversation must be their goal for the seasons ahead.

ACADEMY: Our Saturday Morning Academy has taken a little sojourn for the month of August to give both coaches and participants a chance to recharge their batteries. But fear not we will on the first weekend in September where all boys and girls from age 4-11 will be welcome to enjoy the basics of Gaelic Football in a fun and safe environment.

EAST KERRY: Once again crowned U21 County Champions the District side had to fight tooth and nail to overcome a determined North Kerry side in Austin Stack Park last Wednesday evening. Peter O’Sullivan lined out at corner back for the entire game, the hour plus extra time while Ryan O'Grady leading the attack on the forty kicked three points. Will Shine, a half time substitute, contributed a vital point while Darragh Fleming was introduced midway through the second half.

Kieran O’Donoghue was also part of the panel which eventually got the better of North Kerry on a 1-11 to 3-14 scoreline.

Mastergeeha LOTTO: There was no winner on July 29 of the Jackpot for €2,600. Numbers drawn were 6, 18, 21, 25. Fossa GAA SENIOR MEN: Junior Premier Club Football Championship - Listowel 0-10 Fossa 1-14. A great start to our Junior prem. championship last Sunday in Tralee, after a close first half Fossa led by 2 points with a score line of 0-7 0-5. On the resumption of the second half Fossa were fast out of the blocks and some great scores from David Clifford, Harry Buckley, Paudie and Jack Clifford saw Fossa run out winners by 7 points.

KERRY LADIES: Hard luck to the Kerry ladies senior team and management especially Fossa’s Erica McGlynn and Anna Clifford, a great achievement by the Kerry ladies and the two ladies.

U14 GIRLS: Division 1B County League.

A match made for a less than ideal night, Fossa U14 Girls took on the mighty ISG in an U14 Division 1B Final in Barraduff. This was a tough game and a virtual rematch of the 2021 Championship final. The game was dominated by close marking and a strong breeze which saw Fossa trail early but end the half 2-4 to 1-4 up.

With the assistance of the wind in 2nd half Fossa pressed up on the ISG kick out and turned it over for some superb team scores. ISG were always a threat, but Fossa kept the scores ticking over and

finished well to take the win 4-9 to 3-4.

We had 3 hard games and after a slow start the team found their rhythm they really got into the games linking up well between defence and attack along with a great work ethic. They have made huge progress over the last few months and have set a very high standard. It was a great day and a fantastic experience for the players and management.
