KidWise Hi KidWise Partners,
We are looking forward to a productive, great summer this year. The Lord is leading His people into great things as we move forward from the great things He has already done for us. We hope that this edition of KidWise will bless you and your family with fun family ideas for the summer. Inside, the content is about the 'greatness' of our God and His love for us; how He has designed us to see His wonders and experience His glory, as well as communicate with Him. As families, we can experience the glory of His rich character and design together, spreading His love to each other. We believe that the Lord desires our families to experience Him together, as well as experience His design of each of us individually in our families He has created. We as families are made up of God's unique colors, mold, and purpose. It is His desire, through His Word, that we come to know that we as a family can experience His comfort, His peace (nothing missing and nothing broken) in our lives. His kingdom is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17), and His desire is that we share His Word, His presence, and His life with each other in our families. Our children and the joy we experience through them in our lives is a definition of the joy of His kingdom. The Lord stated that the kingdom of God belongs to such as these, our children. "Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14

O ne day as I was praying and meditating on
God's Word I was thinking about the parable where the sower went out to sow the word. This is the passage found in Mark 4 where Jesus is talking about the Word of God being sown in the hearts of men. He said if you understand this parable you will understand the Kingdom of God. In this chapter, the Lord tells us of the many different ways the Word was sown: 1.By the Wayside (v15) In the greek, 驶by the wayside始 means by a course of conduct, a way of thinking, a feeling, and/or a decision(s). Here, the Lord tells us the Word will take no root because people are leaning on their own abilities, thinking, and ways, conduct, course, direction, etc. This is where Satan comes and takes the Word away because the Word is taken casually and for granted and is not taken outside of their own understanding and feelings. 2.On Stony Ground (v17) A ground or heart full of rocks and hard places is defined as 驶stony ground始. The Lord tells us that these are places of offense where persecution and affliction from the enemy and circumstances have created these offenses, this hardness. Here there is no root, therefore no sprout can spring up. In Hebrews 3, the Word of God tells us that hardness of heart is unbelief, which means believing something other than what the Lord has said. Israel in the wilderness allowed themselves to become hardened by their situation, persecutions, and afflictions. They never
received the promise land because of that.
3.Among Thorns (v19) Among thorns is where the Word is choked and unfruitful in this heart. Here it is because the thorns, as Jesus said, are cares, worries, desire for other things rather than the Word of God, and deceitfulness of riches. Here deceitfulness of riches can be clearly as the greek Word states, "that with which one is enriched". People can be enriched with their own ideals, strengths, abilities to success and climbing the corporate ladder, as well as the things of pleasure that are filled with the temptations that sin has to offer. All these things are filled with the cares of the world, the deceit of the world, which all produce a growth from thorn seeds that create unfruitfulness and produce the double minded heart, desiring God at one moment and other things at another. 4.The Good Ground (v20) Jesus talked about the good ground where the Word is "received" and produces fruit. You can think of ground as a foundation for building and constructing and as a place that is inhabited. You can also see ground is a place where it is generally tilled, yielding and producing sustenance when planting seed is involved. Above the wrong things were being built on 'unfruitful' ground. Jesus promises in the verses to follow that there is a harvest of God's Word in 'good' soil and a great building of His kingdom on this ground.
In verses 27-29 Jesus makes it clear that when the seed is planted that the seed grows without your help or you knowing how. Then within time, you see, eat of, and experience the harvest and He produces great things in your life. Then He states in verses 30-32, that the seed of God's Word and His kingdom's ways are likened to the smallest seed, a mustard seed, but it grows to a mighty harvest and even others will benefit from it. He made it clear in verses 21-22 that a candle or light cannot be hid and is not meant to be hidden. He said nothing can be hidden that will not come forth. A seed is planted in the ground but will burst forth like light through darkness and, His Word will manifest the same. His Word is a lamp unto our feet; a light unto our paths. (Ps 119:105) This brings me to April showers... The term, "April showers bring May flowers" is one I'm sure you are familiar with. I had asked the Lord about the soil, the ground, and the heart, and how does ground become 'good' for that 30 fold, 60 fold, 100 fold harvest found in Mark 4? He said to me, it is through the 'rain', or as rain is, 'water'. Water softens ground and brings growth to seed. "For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned." Hebrews 6:7-8 Rain? Water? Throughout the Word of God He refers to the Holy Spirit and His Word as waters, rain, gushers, and blessing. He refers to rain in Proverbs 16:15 as His favor coming from the light, (word, glory, and character) of His countenance. "In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain." Proverbs 16:15 Here we can see that the harvest of His Word in our lives brings life and light. His glory and His blessing. Just as Jesus said in Mark 4 along with the parable of the sower, 'you can't hide the light or candle of God's word, which is His favor, presence, and personhood, under a bushel.'
So what's the key to being good soil and bringing your children into the position of the harvest of God's Word in their lives? Keep yourself and your children from a course of conduct or thinking that is contrary to God's Word. Keep yourself from getting caught up in anger or offense at circumstances or people. Choose to have a positive outlook and to forgive. Live by Hebrews 3:1 and don't allow your heart to harden with unbelief. Don't take opportunity to believe in something other than what God has said in His word. Keep yourself and your children from getting caught up in what sin has to offer. We can do this by being aware and teaching our children that following the temptations of the world, which offers them opportunities through the thorns of godless ideals, self achievements, and empty, vain philosophies, cheat us out of the rudiments of Christ and the blessings of God. Most importantly, receive God's word like the ground receives April showers. Be thirsty for it and embrace the rain, looking to His ways and expecting your harvest for you and your children. You will find so richly, God's greatest and His increase in your lives. In this mighty harvest, it says in Isaiah 55, you will find more seed, that even you may spread around and sow into the lives of others. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." Psalm 19 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. 2 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race. 6 Its rising is from one end of heaven,
You may ask, 'What does Psalm 19 have to do with Family Finances?" First, we find that Psalm 19 speaks of the handiwork of God and that the heavens declare His glory. Looking to the majesty of the heavens, the stars and the sun and the moon, beyond that the glory of the universes, we can see that our God is rich. He is rich in creation, He is rich in wisdom, and He is rich in substance. We also can see in verse four, that His creation utters speech and reveals knowledge. The Psalm tells us that there is 'no where' where the voice of God's creation is not heard. His words of creation have drawn a line in the earth. Even so far as to be a tabernacle for the sun. From its rising to its setting, His word holds the sun in its socket and moves out of its chambers like a strong man running a race. Making it very clear that nothing is hidden from its heat, just as nothing is hidden from the heat of His word, the motion of His word, the power of His word, or the source of His word. In verses 7-9, we find His word is perfection. His word converts, His word makes wise, and His word enlightens us and brings rejoicing. His word lasts forever and is righteous. Even as we see the sun being held in its socket by His word, the earth in its rotation by His word, the oceans kept in their pockets by His word, and the sand on every shore as tiny particles as they are by His word, we can see the greatness of His riches, His glory and His speaking into our lives the very essence of His wonders and wondrous creation. We find by the end of Psalm 19, God's word is sweet as the honeycomb, brings direction to us and that in 'keeping them there is great reward". Here lies the truth about our family finances. We can see the signature of His wondrous riches in His creation and His substance. Yet, we find the thing that has brought His glory to us has been through His spoken
And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat. 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward.
word. His word reflects the beauty of His riches in everything we see, even in each other in our families and in our children. We can be prosperous and rich in many things including substance. Yet, richness and reward come through His word, His wisdom, and His design. King Solomon was the richest man in the world. He was the son of David and God kept His covenant with David. God said to Solomon in 2 Chronicles 1:11-12, “Since this is your heart's desire and you have not asked for wealth, riches or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, riches and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have. As we see that the rulership He has given us as kings and priests on this earth and to our families, we can see that wisdom would be the principle thing. godly wisdom, with whom Jesus has been made unto us wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30), and as we go after His wisdom, His word, and desire His truth in our lives, we will find that, "all these things shall be added unto us." (Matthew 6:33) As Solomon did, seek godly wisdom for your family. Seek His counsel and look to the majestic order of His creation to verify to you that His glory and His wisdom produce increase, abundance, life and blessing. His word is His wisdom and He will divinely lead you as parents and as a family to experience all His glory. The secret of your family finances is found in His wisdom alone, "more to be desire are they (His word and wisdom) than gold, yea than much fine gold, and in keeping them, there is great reward", for you and your children.
Keep your eyes looking at His marvelous handiwork, 'the heavens declare the glory of God' and His word holds everything into place, including that which concerns you and your children. You will find what Jesus said coming to pass in your lives, as He spoke of Solomon in Matthew 6:28-31, "See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you... So, don't worry... your heavenly Father knows... what you need." The sun didn't have to work at creation and it doesn't have to fume for its flame. The stars didn't have to burst with a grunt to come into existence. Solomon received because he asked. The lilies don't toil, they don't even spin their splendor to gain their own glory. Solomon in earthy riches wasn't dressed with the glory of the lilies that God designed and prospered them by His hand and His word. God's design, His blessing, and His prosperity belongs to us without our toiling for it. After all, the heavens declare His glory, but we are the 'light of the world', 'a city set on a hill', that our light would shine before men, that these 'good works', these 'riches of His glory' would shine as the heaven's shine forth the sun. In that, we 'will glorify the Father which is in heaven.' (Matthew 5:14-16) Experience and receive His riches that come through seeking and living by His wisdom, so that your family as the heavens, ' will declare the glory of God' in and through your lives.
What is the importance of prayer? You think you know how important it is and then you don't do it because you're so busy. Can you imagine having a million dollars in your back pocket and never using it? I once heard a story of a man who shoved his mattress full of money and starved to death. When he was found, they discovered almost a million dollars in the mattress he was laying on. As absurd as that was, he never tapped into the reservoir that was right there accessible to him. Well, there is a reservoir of wisdom, greatness, glory, and abundance from Heaven's 'open' doors that we can tap into each day but, too often we find ourselves caught in between the spiritual and the natural. So what's the deal about prayer, and how can our natural person tap into this glorious reservoir?

We all need to understand and come to the realization that prayer really does make a difference. If that man knew the money he was using to make a difference in his sleeping would also make a difference in his living, I don't think he would have ignored reaching into that mattress and tapping into that source for his existence. So what can we do to understand and realize that prayer really does make a difference? Once you have a revelation of prayer's power, you will not want to be casual about it. It's not about how long you remain in prayer, or about how much prayer you do, but about what you believe when you pray and how prayer matters most. Once you realize these things, casualness will be removed. Once you come to the understanding that your prayer life is an attitude of connection with the personal God who desires to express His glorious abundance of essence in your life, and not about an 驶hour a day始 connection, then you will not let go of your moment by moment, day-long communication with Him and His Word. God is not One who is experienced by those who are casual seekers but rather by those who are diligent and 'steady始 seekers. Maybe you remember the term, 'going steady' from when you were an adolescent. It meant you were steadily committed to only one and no one else. Your devotion was directed to them alone and your thoughts and time were focused on experience with them. If KidWise
in the adolescent life, the fickle ideals of flesh can be determined with a 'steady' commitment for even a short period of time, what more can we do with the Spirit and a 'steadyʼ seeking with our Lord? That 'steadyʼ seeking meaning a steady meditation and communication with Him, all day long. Moms and Dads, I know how busy you can be. In years past, I never thought that I could ever be so busy with the 'natural' things of life that I find myself busy with since we have had five children ages 4 and under. These last 4 years have been amazing yet humbling at the same time. As the head of a world-wide, international ministry, I have found my time for what used to be, 'spiritual', has completely changed. I have come to learn that God desires me to share with others the 'simple' things that He sees, as well as the 'rich' and 'deeper' things. Walking with the knowledge that He is beside you and with you throughout your day, brings a 'steady seeking' attitude or gratitude of His all-knowing wisdom that comes through 'walking with Him and simply talking with Him' along life's way, all day long. Knowing He's there and walking side by side with me, abiding with me, and me abiding in Him, makes life simple, yet so rich. The main problem is ʻremembering' that He's there for you to tap into and rely on even when you're soooo busy. As you become God-conscious, and remember that He says, “Whoever asks, believing in their heart, they will receive when they ask” (Mark 11:24) and, “I Am the vine and you are the branches” (John 15:5), meaning ʻyou are grafted into Me every minute of every dayʼ, you will begin to experience a knowing of the simple, constant connection with Him as He fills your life with His presence. “If you abide in Me, and My word abides in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you." John 15:7 The greek meaning of 'abide' is important here. That word 'meno' means, ʻto tarry and not depart, to be held continually and be keptʼ. It means ʻto live inʼ and references to abiding as a condition, a position or meaning, a ʻplace'. It means ʻto remain as one, and not to become different to, but to wait and sojourn there in that place of keepingʼ. In other words, to abide in Him means to tarry there all day long and live in that condition and position. As you remain in that 'place', sojourn there and wait. He then goes on to say that His word will 'remain with you, tarry with you, position itself with you and be in its place with youʼ. He is saying His word will wait on you, sojourn with you and remain 'one' with you as it keeps you! What a wonderful thing to realize, to have revelation of! And in this place of 'abiding', He says, whatever you ask will be done for you! Is that difficult to comprehend? It will be done for you... whatever you desire? Those are red-letter words! Abide there for awhile and meditate on them. Let those words remain in you and keep you. As you go after His Word, don't try and grasp tons a day, just grasp what He is saying to you through His ever-present Word and ever-present communion with you in that moment, 'all day long'.
We moved this year and I have been reminded of something about children that is so easily missed. That is, how much children draw from you and find 'security' in you. Have you ever thought about how your children look to you for everything in their lives? You are their supply for joy, love, peace, clothes, food, beds, shelter, and even God... You are a supply and source that God is using to reach your children. As you love them and nurture them, you are sending messages to them. You are their security. When we moved to our new home, we found that even though their rooms were different, their location was different, their schedules became different, the solid secure thing for them, that never changed, was us. It was us as parents that they were looking to as the vessels that the Lord was using to bring them to the blessing of our new home. I was reminded how this is the way it is with everything in their wonderful, tiny lives. This is also true if you are thinking of adopting a child from another country or one that has been settled in a foster home prior to your adoption. These children, when they come to you, will have left the areas that
they have gotten used to and accustomed to. As you become their source of security and love, they will find that 'home' is where you are, that 'love' is where you are, and 'you' are the source that God has placed in their lives. The source of Him, His word, His love, and His ways. Also, if you go on a vacation this summer, your children will be in unfamiliar surroundings and possibly be experiencing a new time zone. These things can be a source of change that can create a 'big' difference in the way they are used to doing things. Again, you are the strength and solidity of security they will draw from. As you head towards your destination, they will be drawing from you. As you arrive at your destination, they will be looking to you. As you complete your stay, they will be adjusting through you. While on their way back home and even once they get there, they will depend on you. Your 驶tiny tots始 are right by your side, looking to you at every moment. They can stray away to play but they still draw from the security that you are there. They can sleep in the very next room but still want to get up just to sit on your lap or cuddle with you under a blanket. You are their source of security and their 'kiss' from God Himself. Let them draw from you. Remember, as your children sit with you, walk with you, laugh with you, play with you, and do life with you, they are continuously gaining security from your time, your love, your acceptance, your strength, your praise, your presence, and most importantly, your relationship with Jesus Christ. Allow His rule and reign in your life to shine bright through you to your children, and be your security, as you are theirs. KICKS Tots
He Made the Stars Also Have you ever thought about how big our galaxy is? The Hubble Space Telescope has released 59 new photographs on its 19th anniversary. What an amazing sight. We have the Milky Way, the Andromeda, and more. We now have a new galaxy that has already been named, Milkomeda. All these galaxies are made up of millions of stars. To think that the nearest star to us, after the sun, is 4.3 light-years away. That is, if you left to go visit that star, traveling at 25,000 miles per hour, it would take you 10,000 years to arrive. Yet, this Hubble Space Telescope can capture images within the vastness of our galaxies. The Starburst galaxy is a galaxy that is known for its webs of shredded clouds and flamelike plumes of glowing hydrogen which blasts out of its center. Starburst is 12 million light-years away.
In a Galactic Merger, two galaxies collide together and billions of stars are born in groups and clusters. The brightest of these and the most compact are super star clusters. There are galaxies that spiral, like one called Sunny Side Up, powered by the black hole within its very core, and Light Up The Night where star-birth explodes within the nebula. Its very large yellow 'yolk' center brings a fried egg image through the Hubble. The Cartwheel galaxy that has clouds of beauty circling at 700,000 miles per hour. The glowing dust of Orion Nebula is stated to be, "a dramatic cavern of rolling dust and gas where thousands of stars are forming". Pillars of creation are columns of cool hydrogen gas in what is called the Eagle Nebula as it incubates new stars like tiny bubbles within its pillars. The Eagle Nebula and its tower of gas and dust is 57 trillion miles high. Clouds of glory are 'Herbig-Haro objects' that are formed when very young stars jet out into space. These plow through its surrounding nebula and send shock waves that heat gases causing a glorious rainbow glow. In Genesis, chapter 1 we find the word of God telling us about creation. When you look at these pictures brought from the Hubble you can see throughout the universes the earth could be formless and void, empty, and dark. You can see that darkness would be over its surface and how the Holy Spirit was hovering over the waters. (Gen 1:2) To look at these photos that man has obtained we can see the vastness of God's completeness that is ever existing. "In the beginning God created the heavens and KidWise
the earth." (Gen 1:1) The large vast endless light years are just a handful of time in the hand of our Creator. Through the Son, he made the universe is, what Hebrews 11:2 tells us. "In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands." Hebrews 1:10 How was it in the beginning? God spoke and there was. He said, "Let there be..." and he separated light from darkness. The He called the light, 'day' and the darkness, 'night'. He said, "Let there be...", Expanse between waters to separate water from water, and He called the expanse sky and separated the water from under to the water above. He then called that expanse into one place that was under the sky and dry land appeared. He called the dry ground 'land' and he called the waters, 'seas'. He called forth vegetation, trees, seed bearing fruit, and called the lights in the day and the night to mark seasons, days and years, giving light to the earth. We find this on the forth day, "God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day." (Gen 1:17-19) On this fourth day we find God said in Genesis 1:14-16, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night... He also made the stars. " When you look at what the Hubble Space Telescope has pictured and sent to humanity to view of God's creation, you realize the vast great glory of our Father. As you see, stars are continuing to be made throughout the multiple universes and galaxies that exist even today. God's words, "Let there be", continues to create and continues to form and has brought existence to the stars that are still today moving among the masses of gases and atomic energy that is living and moving just because God said so. When you read verse 16 of Genesis 1, it ends, "He also made the stars." It sounds like an after thought as if to say, "Oh yeah, he made the stars too. It was nothing to it." These stars and galaxies are magnificent to see and they have been hidden as if to say, "It's the expression of the KidWise
mystery of God and His glorious greatness." The eye of the universes, conglomerated together is a focal point of heaven's door where the throne of the creator sits with the Son at His side on our behalf. Heaven's doors open to only those who enter through the Son of God because of His resurrection and we just, 'bypass the stars' on our way there. Psalm 19:1 says, "The heavens declare the glory of God;Â the skies proclaim the work of his hands." To think that He simply made 'the stars also' is a wonder to behold. As we look at the pictures the Hubble Space Telescope sends our way (www.hubblesite.org), we can see the greatness of our God, His love for us, and the power of His word that continues to work on our behalf. His word is so powerful that it is still creating and holding the very essence of this earth in existence. His word is still producing life and bringing forth His glorious witness in our lives. His word is holding the very earth in its socket and the rays of the sun in their place. His word has painted the heavens with glory and holds the very picture in a bottle that He has declared in His creation of time. He has called the days and the nights into existence to form seasons, days and years, and it is within Him when He will come and create a new heaven and a new earth that man will dwell in with His glory in greater dimensions than we can ever imagine. Our God is a great God, a good God, and His word and creation is a witness to us and our children of His awesome love for us and His awesome power in our lives. This summer, take some time and talk to your children about God's simple dotting of His 'i' as He made the stars also. Let them know how great our God's creation is and how wonderful it is that His word is still moving, working, holding, and designing existence and life today. His creation is at work because His word is ever living. If you notice in Hebrews 11:3, in the King James translation, it tells us that we can understand that God created the 'worlds' by His word. The word He uses is 'worlds', which is a plural word. It is not amazing that our God is in charge of it all, and to think, "He also made the stars..." How simple it is for His spoken word to create that which He has sent it to do. That's a great heritage to give your children as you teach them the power of God's word that is displayed in His creation called our universe and 'also the stars'. Â "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God..." Hebrews 11:3

LI FE “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.” I John 5:11 During the summer season we are surrounded by so much life. Not only by all the people around us out and about, enjoying the beautiful weather, but also by all the birds chirping, the flowers growing, and the bright green lawns that we spend our days on. Through this season, let us all remember the life that we have inside of us. God’s life. Eternal life. As your days are filled with this life, let’s rejoice and shout:
I’VE GOT THE LIFE, I’VE GOT THE LIFE, I’VE GOT THE LIFE OF GOD IN ME! I’VE GOT HIS LIFE, I’VE GOT HIS LIFE, I’VE GOT HIS LIFE ETERNALLY!
sprinkler fun Have you ever thought about making 'simple' Summer fun? Your kids aren't complicated, they love the simple things! One of those simple things can be playing in the water hose. So many people are thinking about a pool pass, the community pool, or even looking to buying a 'big' pool or wading pool, they forget that life can become so much simpler if they just pull out the hose and enjoy the fun. Why not enjoy something you already have? A water hose and a little bit of your time which will actually end up saving you time since you won’t be driving somewhere away from home! This summer, plan a picnic of peanut butter tacos (see our recipe this issue) and juice, go outside in shorts and Ts, and get to squirting your kids with water. They will love the fun and they will love being with you, sharing some Summer fun. Making things complicated can only add to the confusion of a busy schedule. Taking the time for the simple things this Summer can be like a ‘vacation’ from the things that keep you so busy. A hands-free, even a bit simpler way to do it is by pulling out that old sprinkler you never use. Hook it up and turn it on so you can just watch your kids run and jump through the water. You can do this while you are sitting in the chair with a cup of lemonade resting in the joy God has brought to your family. You'll find as those wonderful faces turn your way with smiles that are shining brighter than the sun, how blessed you are with the simple things that add to the joy of just simply enjoying your children. The most difficult part of taking the time to simply squirt your children with a hose will be to make yourself stop, look, and listen to taking the time to 'slow' down and do something so simple. It's one of those hot and fun Summertime events that is 'ol' fashion' enough to just enjoy, as you enjoy the 'abundantly simple life' God has so blessed us with!
KICKS Kid Activities
S um m e r What is Summer? There are scientific definitions for Summer; something to do with equinoxes and solstices. However, Summer for so many is a time for outdoor activities, cookouts, vacations, zoo trips and lots of family fun. I know Summer can also present challenges for many families. Busyness is a year round issue for a lot of us. It is difficult to slow down long enough to enjoy the warm weather and longer days. But I want to challenge each and every one of you to set aside time to have family activities. That does not mean you have to take a month long trip around the country. How about short day or even a few-hours-at-a-time trip, to local places of interest. Check out the local activities in your area, I'm sure you will be surprised at the variety of things your family can do. God wants us to enjoy an abundant life that includes spending special time with our families. Trust me you will be amazed at some of the 'simple' things your kids would enjoy doing WITH YOU. Our children are always making memories. Be a big happy part of those memories. Go find the fun!

KICKS Family Life - KICKS Crafts
Rainy-Day Pouch What We Used: •Denim (from an old pair of jeans) •Ribbon •Scrap fabric •Thread For this issue we wanted a craft that would work for an ‘indoor’ or ‘rainy’ day, because even though it’s Summer, there are still days you just can’t go outside! As I pondered a ‘rainy-day craft’ I came up with the ideas for this ‘rainy-day pouch’. This was super easy to make, and will be for you, too.
First I cut some denim from an old pair of jeans (any heavy, durable fabric will work). The size of the finished pouch is 8” tall by 6” wide, but add about 1/2 inch to the top and bottom and about an inch to the side (the opening) because of sewing it. Next I used the shape tool in one of my computer programs to make a star ‘stencil’. I made it the size I wanted then printed it, cut it out, and cut my fabric with it. Then I stitched my star to the front side of my ‘pouch’, then turned my pouch inside out to stitch the top and bottom. Finally, I hemmed the opening sides. To finish it up I used a needle with a very wide eye to stitch some ribbon through the opening sides to tie it closed. There are many ways you can close your pouch -- ribbon (like I used), a zipper (if you’re good with the machine :)), snaps, button holes with buttons, eyelets with old shoe strings... get creative and use whatever you like most! Finally I gathered some goodies to stick in my pouch -- a ruler (6 inch would be great!), some small paper tablets, a small pair of scissors, some crayons, and a sheet of smiley stickers. Just gather what’s around the house that you don’t use much and stick it in there. On that rainy-day it’ll be great fun to spend time with your kiddos creating with the goodies in your pouch to make something simple and fun!

Movies On Review -
A Christian Perspective
Cadet Kelly RECOMMENDED! "Recommended for family viewing"
Hilary Duff plays Cadet Kelly Collins in this Disney made movie. Surprisingly, this movie has a good lesson and a great theme. Cadet Kelly learns how to submit to authority, what authority is all about, and how important authority is. She learns to go after something and not quit. I was surprised that I liked this movie. She learns after a face off with her step father that she can respect her mother's new husband. She also comes to understand that her relationship with her father doesn't have to be challenged by that fact either. She comes head to head with Cadet Captain Stone, played by Christy Carlson Romano from 'Kim Possible', who is her commanding officer determined to break her down.
Yet, Cadet Kelly pulls through and even teaches the honor of team work and forgiveness. As family viewing your kids can draw a nice moral lesson from Cadet Kelly. It is a difficult movie to find in rental stores. Check your local library or Disney videos on line. Pressing through Hilary Duff's acting may take some effort for parents and Cadet Kelly does at times come across as a bit of a know-itall but, her character is sincere and pure. Disney doesn't always come across so pure so take advantage of this one with your kids. Genres: Comedy/Family Running Time: 100 min Release Date: 8 March 2002 (USA)

(that means ‘plans’ :-)) from Elmer
Wow! I am looking so forward to the first day of Summer. I am going to go on a jungle safari, ride some giraffes and elephants, and have a lunch of peanut butter tacos in my fort in the corner of my back yard. Then I am going on a deep sea adventure search for the great hump backed whale and play with some dolphins then enjoy some dinner (whatever Mommy makes). Then I am heading out on a balloon trip around the world with stops in my bedroom, the kitchen for a snack and then off to my backyard again! I will finish it all off with a bath (my mothers idea, not mine) and then a good night’s rest so I will be all ready for day-two of summer! Are you ready for summer and all the adventures you will have?! I love summer!! ;-) Hope you do, too!

can see it daily and speak the scripture as they pass it. ** For extra fun make two sets and before connecting circles, scramble each set and see who can put it together the fastest. The first team done wins! For more KICKS Family Life games, visit, kicksclub.org/familylife KidWise
