Dear Customer. Thank you for purchasing Tata Indicom WiMAX Broadband Connection. If you follow the best practices outlined in this document, you will get trouble free services for a long time.

UNDERSTAND YOUR SETUP Your connection consists of two parts. One is outdoor Subscriber Station (Called SS for short) and other is POE( Power Over Ethernet). One part of POE is connected to your computer and other part is to SS by RJ-45 Cable. Note that this RJ-45 Cable from POE to SS contains power also. So be careful in removing or inserting this cable.

DO'S AND DON’T FOR TATA INDICOM WIMAX BROADBAND CONNECTION. (1) The LAN cable is properly and firmly connected to the PoE and to the LAN card. Loose connection is the source of most of the complains. Note that when you look at the LAN connector there are two lights glowing. The one on the left shows LAN activity and should be blinking when data is exchanged by your computer. The right LED, should be solid, and shows that the connection of your computer with other device (SS in our case) is proper or not. (2) Do not let the LAN cable get stretched, it will make it loose from the connectors and you might face problem in connectivity. (3) Please check that the SS (antenna installed on the terrace) is firm and fixed properly and no one is going to disturb the antenna or move in front of antenna. (4) Do not tamper with the SS (Subscriber Station) installed on the Roof Top. It is a high costing, sophisticated device. Your tampering may damage it. (5) Do not put the PoE in cluttered and high temperature area. Make sure it is out of the reach of children. (6) Do not share your User ID and Password with anyone. Only mention your Login ID to the Tata Indicom executive in your communications and never the “password”. (7) Do not try to change the LAN card IP settings. By default it is set on DHCP mode to obtain the IP Automatically in case of Dynamic IP customer. (8) Do not use any other Login ID except yours. It is illegal and can create problem. (9) Try to connect to the internet 4-5 minutes after the PoE is put "ON". 3-4 minutes are required for POE to reboot just like your PC. Check for Local Area Connection, shows "connected". (To check it, please take the mouse to the 2 computer icon at the bottom right corner of the PC. It automatically shows the connectivity status.

BASIC TROUBLE SHOOTING Login Page Not Appearing The most likely reason for not able to browse is that the PC either did not got the IP address (For dynamic customer) or IP configuration is not correct (For Static IP customers). To quickly check the IP Connectivity, move the curser to right bottom “tray” area of PC on 2 PC icon. Icon is shown below.

Double click on the icon. If IP connectivity is fine, it will show “connected”. If it shows “Limited or No connectivity” or “disconnected” use the following steps to repair the IP connectivity.

Windows XP & Dynamic IP customer facing NO browsing: • • • • • • •

Open the Internet Explorer and try opening any website you will get automatically get http://www.tataindicombroadband.com site for login. Enter Login ID and password in the login page. If the http://www.tataindicombroadband.com page is not opening then Go-to Start Button ->Setting -> Control Panel-> and double click on Network Connection and right click the Local Area Connection try disable and enable. If still facing the same then go to Run from the start button and type “command“ keyword in run dialog box, click ok. Black screen will open then type the following commands o ipconfig /release then Press enter o ipconfig /renew then press enter. Type exit and wait for couple of minutes. Open the internet explorer and open http://www.tataindicombroadband.com site. Enter user name and password in the login page.

Remember: Always logout whenever you are closing the connection and switch off the POE.

Windows XP & Static IP customer facing NO browsing: • • •

Customer should know the Static IP, Subnet, Gateway and DNS. Open the Internet Explorer and try opening any website you will get automatically get http://www.tataindicombroadband.com site for login. Enter Login ID and password in the login page. If the http://www.tataindicombroadband.com page is not opening then Go-to Start Button ->Setting -> Control Panel-> and double click on Network Connection and right click the Local Area Connection try disable and enable.

Open the Local Area Connection and click on Properties button and select the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on properties button. Select and put the Static IP provided to you by the ISP put the Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.224 and Gateway provided to you. In Preferred DNS put 202.54.15.30 and alternate DNS 202.54.29.5. Click OK and reboot the system. Open the Internet Explorer and try opening any website you will get automatically get http://www.tataindicombroadband.com site for login. Enter Login ID and password in the login page.

Windows VISTA & Dynamic IP customer facing NO browsing: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Open the Windows Vista Control Panel. Click the Start button > Network. Click on the Network and Sharing Center button in the window that appears. Click on the link on the left labeled Manage Network Connections to see a list of your network connections. Double-click on the icon labeled Local Area Connection to configure your network connection. (Note: If you do not see this icon, your Network Interface Card may be improperly installed.) Click on Properties. Click Continue if you are asked if you wish to continue. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click on Properties. Select the Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically options. Click on Advanced. A dialog box will appear Ensure that the Default gateways box is empty; otherwise, select each entry and click on the Remove button. Select the DNS tab. A dialog box will appear: Remove the check mark beside the Register this connection's addresses in DNS option. Ensure that the DNS server addresses, in order of use and Append these DNS suffixes (in order) boxes are empty; otherwise, select each entry and click the Remove button. Select the WINS tab. Ensure that the WINS address, in order of use box is empty; otherwise, select each entry and click the Remove button. Click OK to close the Advanced TCP/IP Settings dialog box. Click OK again to close the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Settings dialog box. Click Close and reboot the system

Windows VISTA & Static IP customer facing NO browsing: • •

Begin by opening the Windows Vista Control Panel. Click the Start button, then select Network. Click on the Network and Sharing Center button in the window that appears.

Click on the link on the left labeled Manage Network Connections to see a list of your network connections. What to do to completely log out / switch off WiMAX broadband connection (Graceful Logout) In order to log off, you will need to disable any kind of pop up blocking that you have. Once you are connected, you will be able to see a page which has the log out button. Once you click on the log out, you will be requested to confirm in order to log off completely

By mistake I have closed my login page without logout, what should I do now? Please switch off your PC. Start your PC after 10 minutes. To avoid this situation please follow instructions for graceful logout.

I do not want to enter my login details every time I connect to the internet? If you do not wish enter your login details every time you connect to the internet, we would recommend that you should subscribe to a Static IP. And then you can activate TAL functionality from my account

What can be the cause for a particular site not opening? The probable cause could be • •

The website itself is not working The ISP which is hosting the website is having issues

Can I use internet connection for more than 1 PC ? How Yes you can share the connection via a Router with NATTING feature. Connect the WAN link of the router to the ‘Data In’ of the POE adaptor and Laptop / PC on the LAN side of the router. Configure the router for NAT functionality. All users will get connectivity from the LAN side
