단 군 Dan-Gun

21 Movements Dan-Gun was the legendary founder of Korea. He founded Korea in 2333 B.C.

What your belt means: Your yellow belt symbolizes: The seed of Tae Kwon Do that has been planted. You are beginning to understand some of the basics and starting to realize the dedication needed to reach your goals. It will sometimes seem like a long journey, but realize, it is the journey that you should be enjoying.

Hand Techniques

Kicks

1. Ridgehand Strike: Tuck your thumb all the way across your hand and strike with the muscle behind your thumb. The striking hand will start at your hip, thumb up, and move like a hooking punch to the target.

1. Spin Outer Crescent Kick: Spinning over your back shoulder, let your legs “twist up”, then swing the leg in front upward while pulling your hips around. Your kick should impact your target using the outside blade of your foot. Land your kicking foot back down behind you in a back stance.

2. Square Block: Chamber both fists on your back hip. Bring both arms crossing in front of your body. The top hand will execute an Outer-Forearm Block while the bottom hand will execute a High Block, thus making a “square” with your arms.

3. Double Fist Block: Chamber front hand with fist toards your face, your back hand extended straight out, thumb down. Your front hand will execute an Outer-Forearm Block while the back hand will move horizontally to in front of your sternum, thumb up.

4. Double Knifehand Block: Executed exactly the same as a double fist block, except your hands are open in a Knifehand position.

2. Spin Side Kick: Bring your back leg knee into your chest, turning around your back shoulder. Spin your front foot so it is pivoted toward the back. Extend your back foot, thrusting your heel through your target. Retract the kick the back to your body like a lead leg side kick.

2. Step forward with your right foot into a right front stance and right high punch.

14. Execute a left high block without moving.

3. Move your right foot 180° clockwise into a right back stance and right double knife-hand block.

15. Step forward with your right foot into a right front stance and right high block.

16. Step forward with your left foot into a left front stance and left high block.

Left ridgehand strike (temple) Slide your front foot to your back foot and execute a right spin crescent kick.(Yell)

Slide your front foot to your back foot and execute a left spin side kick Execute a left high backfist to the temple. (Yell)

3e. 3f.

Left jump front kick Right forward elbow. (Yell)
