I’m an architect based in London. After finishing my studies in Belarusian National Technical University I obtained 10 years of professional experience in different fields of architecture. My own professional challenge was to try design at all scales. And I did it at all levels, from big territorial systems to furniture design. At my last office position I was a project manager in architectural office. With my colleagues - young belarusian architects we formed a non-formal community Monogroup, studying future architecture. This has lead to involving interdisciplinary specialists in Monogroup. We designed and built few interactive installations and started an interdisciplinary laboratory HackForFuture which is devoted to collaborate different specialist to work on joint projects. Last few years I’ve worked like self employed architect with my private and Monogroup projects.

URBAN CONCEPT OF NATURAL AND HUMAN SYSTEMS NEGOTIATIONS. DIPLOMA WORK. 2006

In my diploma work I tried to solve problem of natural and human systems negotiations. From global scale to single house structure in context of global ecological crisis. I developed catalogue of multy-scale design techniques. Then propose solutions for region territory (Belarus and Minsk region), settlement (Rakov), and single house. Main Ideas was to connect all natural ecosystems to one continuous nature reserve and control human ecological impact. Supervisor: Dr. I.Yoda

ECO PLUG-IN RECONSTRUCTION OF RAILWAY JUNCTION IN ORSHA, BELARUS The concept of eco plug-in was a proposal for the IAAC contest. It is a project utopia how to make our cities self-sufficient. The project is based on idea of nonstop monorail transportation system. Because of the monorail, existing railway will be used only for local transportation. This will lead to big free spaces in the centre of the city on site of railway territories. So, we place on these territories an eco plug-in that takes waste resources from existing city(energetic, heat waste, electricity, industrial waste, sewerage, light waste, etc.) and reuse them. Plug-in also gives to the city material products, food, recycled waste and also information, art and recreation areas. Plug-in will be inhabited by different groups of dwellers: repressed farmers, refugees, creative class, stakeholders and others, who want to live in the centre of the city in lofts. The project is made in big cities on the way Moscow-Berlin(Moscow, Orsha, Minsk, Warsaw, Berlin), detailed project is made for city Orsha, because now it’s an industrial city, huge part of which is occupied by railway territories, prisons and fabrics, and it extremely needs an eco reconstruction. We took Orsha because this Belarusian city has a lot of lacks in urban planning and includes international rail centre. Project team: MONOGROUP

RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX ‘NOTTINGHAM’ MASTERPLAN. MINSK REGION, BELARUS. 2008. 250,000 square meters of housing facilities for 5,000 people on 187 ha with establishment of educational, medical, sports and business infrastructure. I did masterplan design and all architectural drawings. Client:UnivestStroyInvest limited. Design in collaboration with architects A. Musov, D.Musienko and engineers. NEW TOWN-SATELLITE FOR BARINAS. VENEZUELA. 2009.

The government of Venezuela had a plan to resettlement people from overpopulated coastal areas to the centre of country in order to reanimate industrial and agricultural regions. Following to their plan we made radical reconstruction of Barinas. Barinas population is 350.000. We made reconstruction and added town-satellite to make it 650 000. I made design with team of architects and engineers, drawings, models and presentations. I worked with the government and the local government during 2 month in Venezuela, presented the project at the inter-government level. Client: the government of Venezuela. Private house in Borovlyany was designed for single family. I made design, drawings and pictures in Revit. House is under construction. Designed in collaboration with architects Nina Nemkova and Nataly Nemkova for private client. 11


HELLO, BICYCLE! BICYCLE SHOP IN SINGAPORE Design project of the shop in the big commerce building at seafront was made for tender documentation. I worked with a tender manuals and client, made design and all drawings and visualization. Drawings in AutoCAD. Modelling and in 3ds Max+Vray. Private client. 12

ECOMOTEL ON THE BELOYE LAKE. BELARUS. The project was to develop of special design techniques and recreation complex sustainable design. Ecomotel situated on the big international road at nature reserve territory. BELORUSNEFT LABORATORY BUILDING. GOMEL. BELARUS. 2013 Building includes, restaurant, offices and industrial laboratories. 24750 m². I worked on this project like project manager and partly like architect. My job was to organize and control the process of developing all design documentation; communication of design group with client, contractors and municipal services; control of building processes. 16

MULTIFUNCTIONAL PUBLIC CENTRE IN “KAMENNAYA GORKA” DISTRICT. MINSK. BELARUS. 2013 Building includes cinema, big supermarket, shops, few restaurants, bowling club, offices and other. I worked on this project like project manager. My job was the organisation and control the process of developing all design documentation; communication of design group with client, contractors and municipal services; control of building processes. SUMMER CAFE WITH INTERACTIVE BAR SELIGER LAKE, RUSSIA 2010 Summer cafe was constructed from recycled materials inside the wooden tower at the summer forum Seliger 2010. The project was an experiment of making interactive architecture. Through the collaboration between architects and designers and engineers- electricians, we made interactive floor of the cafe. It lit with different colour, when a person stepped on it. Client Rosmolodezh Design team: Progressor

BELARUSIAN NATIONAL HISTORY AND CULTURE MUSEUM. EXHIBITION HALL RECONSTRUCTION. It was necessary to place in the same space sculptures of key persons of Belarusian history. Using Grasshopper, we have developed an optimal model of movement of visitors, placement of sculptures and decorative elements. The project was developed at the request of the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus. Design by MONOGROUP 24

BLUE LIGHT PIANO. GALARY NEW DAY, MINSK, BELARUS Interactive installation was made for the exhibition Mysteria at New Day art gallery. The main idea of the installation was to make interactive piano. To play on that piano a person needs to move his hands inside the frame, which is located in the center of the room. If the projection of the hands fits in the virtual buttons, a piano gamma is played. Therefore, anyone can play piano music with his hands, moving in the air. Also, person can see his transformed reflection. Many of them thought, that reflection is independent virtual smart creature. This installation is a part of big project, dedicated to transformation of human senses of perception into each other, which is devoted to helping people with disabilities. Design by MONOGROUP 25


Mono 1 at Minsk Architecture Biennale

MONO 1.PARAMETRIC BAR. 2012. Lounge-zone for the Minsk Architecture Biennale was made using the methods of algorithmic design. In the algorithm of the creation of the object were implemented Fibonacci sequence and ergonomics of the bar furniture. Final form was fabricated with the help of CNC-machine from plywood. The project has won third prize at the international contest of young architects Leonardo 2011 in the nomination ÂŤInteriors. RealizationÂť Client:Belarusian Union of Architects. Design, event and workshops by Monogroup. Originally designed for Minsk Architecture Biennale, the bar later on was exhibited at Frisbee Summer Party festival 2012 and Minsk Design Week 2012.

MONO 1. EVENT AND LOUNGE ZONE. Bar was part of the event space. In that space we organised 2 workshops and first international conference about parametric architecture in Belarus. Mono 1 was main people an discussions attractor on the Biennale.

SYNTHESIZER. INTERACTIVE INSTALLATION AT EASA014. VELIKO TARNOVO, BULGARIA

Synthesizer was built during two-weeks workshop at European Architecture Students Assembly. Syntesizer is dedicated to making a part of urban environment a kind of orchestra on which citizens can play interacting with it’s parts or just going through the space. Through the means of computational design we gathered input data and translate it into acoustic, visual and spatial transformations in realtime mode . We chose three arcs on the city streets and transform them into analogue musical instruments: metalophone, hapi drum and wooden drums. Every arc was also connected to piezo elements with electronic sounds, gathered from the city. The whole structure was made from recycled materials, found on the streets of Veliko Tarnovo. People could play analogue instruments and electronic sounds at one time. Some of piezo elements were installed into the pavement, and people can produce sounds and lightning, just moving near the arcs.

CENTRAL INTERACTIVE INSTALLATION AT THE MINSK MUSEUM NIGHT 2014. The project is dedicated to the artist Chaim Soutine. Pavilion creates a specific isolated space. Users draw by hands in the air pictures by Soutine with the help of specially designed (with Processing) interface. Special acoustic environment was also developed. Design, construction, electronic, programming parts, as well as, operation during the event was made by MONOGROUP in collaboration with Olga Mzhelskaja.

CITYBOT. INTERACTIVE INSTALLATION AT EASA013 ZUZEMBERK, SLOVENIA. CityBot installation was built during two-weeks workshop at European Architecture Students Assembly. CityBot is an attempt to create a new urban dweller, the new environmental archetype. CityBot is developed as a focus-object for testing of interaction in the interdisciplinary group of people. Therefore, it is rather a myth and a model for experiments. However, its development leads to the finding of mass concepts, that have quite utilitarian use. Citybot is interactive installation, built on the mobile platform, therefore it can be moved through the city. CityBot reflects the environment and she shadows of passing by people. External framework is made from wood with metal joints, the shell is made from supplex. All electronic devises are hidden inside the structure. Building process
