Dear Parents, The school this morning is a hive of activity with Year 6 children showing prospective parents around. They assumed their responsibilities with an air of confidence and are a delight to listen to as they explain what the school is about and how proud they are of it. Your children are our greatest ambassadors and we count ourselves very lucky to have such wonderful children in our school. Kindergarten Blue have been to Pizza Express and waxed lyrical about their newly acquired cooking expertise. I am sure that KGB parents were all delighted that supper was already “on the plate” at the end of the day. Year 6 held their Bushcraft Assembly on Wednesday and performed “Tribe’s Got Talent” for the Junior House to laughter and screams of delight. The acting talent bodes well for our end of year plays. They clearly had a most amazing experience which they will take on with them in life and they have given Year 5 a taste of what is to come next year. Well done, Year 6. Next week we celebrate the Harvest Festival with assemblies on Friday 4 th October. Our Harvest food collection will go to the Twickenham branch of the Salvation Army for distribution to people in need. We would be very grateful for all contributions of non-perishable and in-date food goods on Wednesday and Thursday so that we can make an excellent display. Please bring the goods to the Sedum entrance. On another note, I have been made aware of parking issues outside the school. I would kindly ask that parents park sensibly in allotted parking bays if they are parking in the vicinity of the school, even if they only need to visit the school for a few moments. We aim to keep all children safe in the road and maintain good relationships with our neighbours. I would greatly appreciate your help in this matter. I very much look forward to writing to you again next week with further news of events and activities. Have a happy and relaxing weekend. Marianne Austin

YEAR 4 NETBALL v KEW GREEN PREP TUESDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER On Tuesday 24th September Year 4 girls played in a match against Kew Green Prep. We were raring to get on to the court for our first match of the season. The whistle blew and Kew Green Prep took the first centre pass. Kew College snatched the ball and we attacked their end. I passed to Sophie who tried to score but Kew Green caught the ball and passed quickly up to their goal. They missed and some great passing from both sides followed. Suddenly the ball was back down our end, I passed to Eve and she scored a goal (1 – 0 to us)! At half time we had an encouraging talk from Mrs Tabor and we were back on. We showed some good movement and ball speed in the second half, the ball moving swiftly down the court. Eventually it was back in the circle, passed to Sophie who shot and scored a goal, 2 – 0 to Kew College. Well done to all the girls who played. Betsy 4F YEAR 4 FOOTBALL v KEW GREEN PREP TUESDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER Bubbling with excitement and adrenalin pulsing through our veins, we ran onto the pitch to play our first match of the season. Before we knew it we were 2 - 0 down. However, we battled back and working together as a team, the ball came to me and I managed to slot it home twice bringing the scores level. Two minutes into the second half we conceded a further goal... BUT Jake soon scored a blinder making it 3 - 3. With only seconds to go until the final whistle, Max saved the day by scoring a screamer...the winning goal! We all jumped for joy shouting "WE DID IT!!!" Well done to all the boys who played - Joel, Paddy, Luke, Leo, Max, Jake and Josh Josh 4F YEAR 5 NETBALL V ORCHARD HOUSE THURSDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER On Thursday 26th September Kew College played a match against Orchard House. We got the first Centre pass but lost the ball and Orchard House scored. With team work we managed to get the ball back down to our end and Katie scored. At half time the score was 3 -1 to Orchard House. After a quick talk from Miss Townsend and Miss Elkington we started the second half, unfortunately Orchard House scored again. We managed to get another 2 goals during the game but at the end of the match the score was 5-3 to Orchard House. There was great play from Tilly, Lauren, Olivia H, Kate, Rose, Katie, Jasmin M and Jasmine P. I think we need to improve on our spacing and dodging. Jasmine P 5W

Pizza Express On a beautiful autumnal morning this week, Kindergarten Blue set off to make pizzas at Pizza Express. As we walked to Kew Village through the fallen autumn leaves and conkers the children excitedly talked about the pizzas they were going to make. We were warmly greeted by the staff at the restaurant. After a warm up quiz which all the children excelled in, it was then off to wash our hands. Aprons and hats at the ready and we were all set to go! The children loved touching the freshly made dough and spontaneously came up with their own adjectives to describe the feel of their dough, ‘sticky’, ‘springy’ and ‘soft’. All too soon the pizzas had been cooked and it was time to return to school. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the staff commented on how beautifully behaved Kindergarten Blue had been. So a big well done to all the children and to the wonderful help we received from Ms Goncalves and Mrs Mahbub who so generously gave up their morning and helped to make our trip so successful.

CONGRATULATIONS to Georgia (Yr6), Ian (Yr5) and Georgina (Yr5) who all participated in the Richmond Running Festival last weekend. There were approximately 350 children taking part in the mile run and special mention must go to Georgia who came 2nd out of all the girls. Well done from all of Kew College.
