humidifier project description

design a humidifier or hand sanitizer with in the design language of one of several company choices

concept description

three part system designed to be integrated into a house, which would allow for humidity control and curb water consumption. the three part system consists of a water boiler, a large dehumidifier, and small humidifier units

unit takes water from watermain and dehumidifier then distributes it throughout the house, including the individual humidifier(s)

located outside, water collected from the dehumidification process would be routed to the water boiler then distributed throughout the house.

researched current market’s fixed gear bikes, finding very subtle variation of style, consisting of a variance of frame thickness, frame size, color, and location of weld joinery location

inspiration

not feeling particularly inspired by current fixed gear bike style, I researched low rider bikes for inspiration towards my design

CHARCOAL the material strength opens up charcoal options, where as all other traditional shichirins are limited to a special wood charcoal

MODERN DESIGN Design of the grill is meant to emphasize a modern aesthetic.

FUNCTION Designed for the outdoors, from out in nature to the back yard. Design has an area for cooking and convince of extra surface area for work space. The cement structure can withstand different climate elements.

as a team we brainstormed our target user for outdoor products, settling on weekenders, who are upper middle class individuals that enjoy spending their leisure time outdoors

manufacturing research

researched different manufacturing possibilities and determined mold casting was the most feasible for my product

material research

after extensive research of materials, I decided on cast refractory cement for its high heat durability and cast ability

cast test

conducted a preliminary test on the material to research any potential opportunities or issues that may arise further into development

thermal test

the preliminary mock up was cast with a gradual wall thickness which allowed me to test for an ideal wall thickness based on how much heat radiated off of the surface

test results

the results from the test showed that a wall thickness no less than 0.36 inch was ideal
