Martin Compston

An Appropriate "Touch of Toughness" Now we are not saying that hunky Scottish gentleman Martin Compston is a carbon copy of the intense roles he plays with so much verve, but not far from it with that Sun in Taurus and Moon in Leo revving up his motor. In fact, most people would hang on to their seat belts at the sight of him whizzing past them on some Los Angeles freeway. Somewhat handsome with the aforementioned "touch of toughness" to his persona, his passionate Leo moon ensures he was also obstinate enough to pursue his showbiz career “to the bone”. The result? Big time popularity and iconic status as a TV cop. His origins are working class; it was important to him to get a good education, and to show others how "different" he was. Blame these ambitions on the determination of a Taurus sun sign plus unadulterated talent. "Overdressed W*****r" From the start "Line Of Duty's" super star Martin Compston ensured his role as Detective Steve Arnott was so convincing one identified with it. His strong presence on screen as the anti-corruption cop, saw a following of 4.1 million viewers in one sitting. Martin plays down his success. He told the Guardian that Steve Arnott is an "overdressed w*****r at work who is having all the office affairs!" W*****r or not, Martin must be optimistic as he starred (for the first 10 minutes) in the BBC’s Vigil; there are also rumours of another series of "Line!" One would expect nothing less from the man! So how did it all begin? Call it the astro, call it destiny, but quite unexpectedly, “Somebody up there loved him”, and he morphed from a rather unsuccessful, Celtic-Obsessed footballer for his home town Greenock Morton, Scotland, into a super talent before you could say, “Where's the red carpet?”. His starring role in Ken Loach's “Sweet Sixteen” ensured the film was a smash hit at the Cannes Film Festival, he became a living legend in his beloved homeland. A super celebrity at a young age, he even got nominated for "The Most Promising Newcomer" at the British Independent Film Awards. Interestingly, he had never acted in his life when he was talent-spotted! “After Sweet Sixteen, I did a lot of indie movies and I was seen as an independent actor, which I love. I’m probably at my happiest on independent productions – but it can be hard to get out of that."

“He morphed from a rather unsuccessful, Celtic-Obsessed footballer for his home town Greenock Morton, Scotland, into a super talent!”

The Band Video When he was a mere, flat-sharing twenty "something" experimenting with his new found talent, fiery Aries in Mercury encouraged him to "get out of all that" by creating a band video; it fell flat. The challenges of a drug fuelled sex addict with blood on his hands proved too OTT for his still somewhat limited fan base. The video was panned by the Glasgow Women's Support project, they called the performance “a cliched, cynical strategy to gain publicity and a chance for selfpromotion” – which was of course what he wanted. At the time he said, “It’s no surprise,“...Unless you’re Coldplay, no bands get their music videos played on the music channels anymore. It’s all Rihanna. So, we said, ‘If videos aren’t being shown, then let’s do something shocking that will get it talked about’. Left the Bad Reviews Behind Him Being talked about is something, dare one call "our man from the highlands" is more than used to now that he has left the bad reviews behind him. A tried and tested thespian, he stands his ground. Mars in Scorpio might encourage him to get a tad irritated if you try to steal his thunder though; he appears to have an impulsive streak when the mood takes him. In other words do not try to pinch his parking space either! But generally, he is a “Hail Fellow Well Met” kind of bloke. He is probably good at learning his lines, he has naturally organised thoughts and a determined delivery. Kind of moody, with that bright Leo moon shinning right over him, there is a hidden depth, an empathetic soulfulness to him. This sensitivity surfaces in his capacity to get under the skin of a character. It also showed up on a personal level, when showbiz gossip inferred that he and his American wife Tianna Chanel Flynn had struggled with fertility. On a Radio 2 interview he announced that the information had been wrongly assumed and had caused “needless distress” . “Sadly, something so shamefully insensitive and completely without foundation has to [be] called out,” the actor added. This clearly is a guy who will not allow his personal life to be overshadowed by gossip, or showbiz negativity and gossip. The Stars on His Side His Sun could be in no other astro house but the tenth. This combo ensures success and honour will continue to be showered upon him. He might have a superstitious side to his thespian nature though, certainly he would not "go public" with it. One could be almost certain he would not wear a purple shirt on location, and definitely honours Lady Luck. Yet deep down he probably knows he manifested his own success with sheer will power and outrageous talent; seeing his name in lights is no coincidence. One could claim the "stars" were on his side and his sensitive soul, strong demeanour and oodles of chutzpah did the rest. Philip Garcia - Astrologer

Abusive Relationships

Imagine you went on a first date with someone who was sarcastic, nasty, disparaging towards you. It's hard to believe that you would agree to a second date. Yet an abusive relationship can creep up on us and have us gradually accepting that behaviour, justifying it, perhaps even feeling that we are in some way responsible for it happening. The abuser often couches their behaviour subtly; they may claim they are trying to help us improve, are encouraging us to remedy a perceived failing or flaw. It is often sexual abuse that gains the most media coverage but abuse also covers physical, emotional and mental cruelty and can be experienced by people of either gender, age, in any strata of society. It's important for us to become aware if escalating patterns of unacceptable, sustained bad treatment start to appear. Abuse is often about control. The abuser may be insecure, afraid of losing you, fearful that you'll find someone better, so they try to hold onto the relationship by increasingly checking where you're going, what you're doing, how you're spending your money, how you dress. Often an abuser will try to make you increasingly dependent and reliant on them. They may discourage you from working; they earn enough, why not take a break, why not take time to think about doing something else? It can be a seductive, attractive process where you feel cared for, loved, supported but over time you gradually lose your financial independence, career, friends, even family.

Emotional abuse often starts by establishing a cosy 'us against the world' scenario where you're assured that you're all they have/need/want. At first you feel loved and secure, safe in the loving bubble of warmth and protection. Gradually you'll find you spend less time with friends, especially if it becomes an increasing hassle to make arrangements, they are regarded as a bad influence or your family is accused of being unfriendly or interfering. Over time it becomes harder to make plans to see 'outsiders'. You may find that when you try to make plans they often clash with 'special' or 'important' functions you're required to attend, or there is an insistence in dropping you off and picking you up, where they return earlier than agreed. This in itself may be fine. You justify the behaviour as friendly, sociable, helpful, but combined with negative remarks about your clothes, hair, makeup you may gradually start to lose any confidence in yourself. Some abusers become so controlling that they methodically check every financial transaction and request for money, query every call or text on the itemised phone bill, undertake daily mileage checks on your car, phone or return home at unexpected times to see what you're doing. If you try to challenge their behaviour they will justify themselves logically and reasonably, even making you feel guilty, apologetic at having questioned their motives.

Physical abuse often starts with a tap, a push, an angry slap. Sometimes alcohol is involved. The perpetrator is often seriously contrite afterwards, promising never to repeat their behaviour. It's important to be firm with them, discuss what's happened and insist that thy seek help, perhaps to specifically deal with anger or alcohol related issues. Keep a diary of abusive behaviour, try to save money in a secret account and have a safe place where you know you can escape to if you become afraid. Sexual abuse can involve gradual but increasing degradation; the pressure to do things, engage in practices you find off-putting, unpleasant, painful or humiliating. You may be accused of being frigid, a prude, old-fashioned but whilst it can be fun to experiment and explore sex together, a relationship should be about both parties feeling comfortable and moving at a pace that is fine for them both.

Start as you mean to go on is an important message for new relationships. Keep regular channels of communication open between you and be sure to discuss any areas you feel unhappy about. Be firm and refuse to be bullied into doing things you don't want to do. You're allowed to change your mind even if you've gone along with things previously.

If you're beginning to feel uneasy in your relationship find an ally, a friend, a therapist with whom you can confidentially discuss matters. It may be that you're being over-sensitive, feeling vulnerable, or past experiences have made you ultra-cautious. Even so, you're entitled to consideration and respect, to have your concerns listened to. Is there a place you could go to de-stress, to take a break, giving you both time to reflect on your relationship? Might you benefit from outside help from a counsellor, a mediator, priest, family friend? Take time to explore what the triggers are, what happens to spark off the abusive behaviour. Look for help for either or both of you to deal with those issues. It's important to protect yourself and your self-esteem, and perhaps help your abuser too.

Important November Astrology Dates

Mercury in Libra trine Jupiter in Aquarius This month brings good news and the willingness to try new things. Keeping a positive attitude and being extra generous with your time and money will help you to set up a great holiday season. You need to make an extra effort to get out the house and mix with new people and go visit with old friends. A smile on your face and the desire to spread joy will help others like you more. Make use of those eloquent social skills which have been gathering dust over the last few years while you have been in seclusion. A good plan, and some careful use of money will help your life run smoothly if you are willing to use your communication skills instead of your cash. A charity needs more actual hands-on help than dollars, so book in some time to help instead of handing over your credit card.

New Moon in Scorpio – Sun in Scorpio opposition Uranus in Taurus You are torn between supporting others and doing what is best for you. You may finally be ready to express what is in your heart, but others may not be ready to hear you just yet. Avoid the urge to express yourself in emotional outbursts but do not let the maddening need to let someone know just how much they really mean to you pass you by. While this person may not be expecting your declaration this early, you will find they are not opposed to the idea of making your connection more permanent. You are prone to overwork and so you will need to make time in your schedule to rest and relax. That does not mean taking to your bed, it could be just taking the time out to do things which bring you peace and happiness.

Taurids meteor shower You have no excuse for not taking responsibility for your own actions. This is a good time to stuff off bad habits and let your inner desires shine brightly. Others will be looking to you to step up and become the leader you were always destined to become. Do not let your fears hold you back from taking centre stage and accepting a commanding role of the world around you. This is also a good time for you to consider getting your living space redesigned to reflect your style. If something really is not working for you, then cast it aside or better yet find it a new home with someone who will really love what it does for their home. Anything which you have been putting off because it does not need to be done right away, suddenly becomes a top priority. Get moving and you will find it is much easier than you thought. Mercury in Scorpio conjunct Marks in Scorpio – Mars in Scorpio square Saturn in Aquarius Seemingly unrelated events suddenly connect in strange and unusual ways; depending on how you react to these changes, will have a great effect on your life. The more you resist accepting the efforts of others to help you through this difficult time, the larger the affects will be especially to your pocketbook. You are great when it comes to making quick decisions but before you act, be sure you get at least one second opinion to avoid missing a critical fact. Others may perceive you as a little more self-centred than normal but that is only because you have a lot to do and very little time to do it in. Be careful of the way you speak to others as your lack of patience can make you aggressive and challenging for others to engage in a healthy dialogue with you.

Sun in Scorpio square Jupiter in Aquarius You have great opportunities for success but along the way there will be some tests to your character. Take care that you do not snap at people who come asking for advice. Instead of just rattling off a response, stop what you are doing, have them sit down, explain the problem clearly, and then after careful thought give them an answer which will help them; not only will this approach help to show them that you care, but it will also help you build a reputation as a solid advisor to those in need. Your natural tendency to collect mementos of past accomplishments is a noble trait, but you should also consider collecting items which help you remember your failures as well. Though we love to relish in our success, we learn more from our failures and a reminder of what not to do can be important too.

Mars in Scorpio opposition Uranus in Taurus Are you feeling fed up and ready to blow? That is because the fiery elements of Mars are fuelling your desire to rebel, especially when it comes to issues of the heart. All those little annoying habits of someone close are just a little more than you can handle. Look for some space, even if it just taking an afternoon for yourself to walk the streets and do some much needed window shopping. While you might not feel that you have much physical energy, that does not keep your mind from going a mile-aminute. This excess mental energy can lead you to be impulsive, innovative, and determined to get things your way, it does not increase your likeability with those who must interact with you. Keep this in mind when it comes to handing out assignments, unless you want to end up seeking out new friends when this time Mercury in Scorpio trine Neptune in Pisces - Leonid Meteor Shower It is time to focus in on your love life both in the spiritual and physical realms. If you have been waiting to try out something different, then it is time to do so now! A little more sensuality and tangible pleasure will help you to overcome the stress in other areas of your life. Material needs must not only be acknowledged but also dealt with. There is a strong connection between a happy home and a happy life. If you cannot see the connection, then you will not understand the problem. However, others can clearly see when your home life is out of control. You may want to consider getting someone to come in and help you make better use of your space, or at the very least get it cleaned up and ready for the holidays. If financial resources are a problem, there are other ways to compensate people.

Mercury in Scorpio square Jupiter in Aquarius When trying to find the right path, take a broad philosophical look at the choices in front of you. You have a greater understanding of abstract ideas and an aptitude for learning new things. The only problem you may find is the motivation to stay focused on the subject at hand. Be aware of your tendency to fall down a rabbit hole and get dragged off task by misinformation and conspiracy theories. Sloppiness is the enemy, and you should always be on your guard against it. Your full potential can only be realised by consciously working on your concentration level. You certainly have the ability to do something great, if you are willing to keep studying and improving your skills.

Mercury enters Sagittarius You are less concerned with what others are thinking and instead more focused in on what needs to be done. The objective viewpoints of others are often helpful, but you are in no mood to listen to them rehash ideas which have already been discarded. In this time of quick and hasty decisions, make sure you are very straightforward in your directions, leaving no room for errors or misunderstandings. When you must pick between two pathways, go with the one which is less complicated, the time saved will help you to get other projects off the ground quickly. Family and friends still require your attention so make sure you schedule out accordingly and remember when it is time to go, it is time to go.

Mercury in Sagittarius sextile Saturn in Aquarius — Venus in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces — Sun in Sagittarius sextile Saturn in Aquarius You are focused on the big picture and have some great plans in the works. Make use of your increased mental skills and extra energy to get things on the right path early on. While normally you do not like to work on multitude of projects at the same time, the planets are in your favour to take on more than is superhumanly possible. This is a great time to pick up some extra help to ensure you have a smooth holiday season. A little teaching and mentoring of others will help you to cut the drama and stress out of life. If you have not spent the time needed to plan out your holidays and where you are going to go, do it now as friends and family need to have time to prepare for you and someone special.

Oh and make sure you keep all of your receipts, just incase any gifts aren’t quite right in some way. This way you can make sure you’ll get a refund for anything sent back. There’s nothing worse than having to send a gift back without the receipt and wasting your money as they won’t take it back without a receipt. You can’t overlook the significance of early planning when it comes to Christmas. The tips given above will help you enjoy a more cost-effective Christmas. Make sure you plan for next year’s Christmas by reviewing the mistakes you committed this year and developing a strategy for doing things differently next year. Make the most of the sales just after Christmas. If you need to stock up on Christmas gifts for next year, wrapping paper, cards…etc, now is the time to do it when the prices will be at their lowest! ARIES November has an intense beginning for you. It's possible you'll get an unexpected bill on the 4th, when the New Moon disrupts your cash flow. If you're looking for work, seek opportunities that pay on a commission basis. You'll easily outperform the competition. Close relationships can be a source of irritation in the middle weeks of November. No matter what you say or do, your loved ones take exception to it. Seek to satisfy yourself instead. The Lunar Eclipse on the 19th warns against lending or borrowing money; mixing friendship with finance is a big mistake. Opportunities to expand your horizons will abound at the end of the month. You'll welcome the chance to escape the boredom of the old routine. Take an online course or plan a long-distance trip.

TAURUS A close relationship demands your attention at the start of November. The New Moon on the 4th pressures you to make a commitment or walk away from a union. An intense desire for freedom may prompt you to go solo. Don't overestimate your importance at work towards the middle of the month. Demanding special treatment, cutting corners and breaking rules could result in disaster. On the 19th, a Lunar Eclipse will tempt you to change your image. This could do more harm than good. It's better to maintain the status quo than make any sudden alterations to your appearance and persona. Your love life will sizzle with excitement in the final days of November. A rendezvous with the object of your affection will be lots of fun.

GEMINI On the 4th, the New Moon warns against accepting a job that seems too good to be true. It's better to hold out for a position at an established company with a good reputation than a start-up operation. In the middle of November, you'll be focused on improving your physical and emotional health. Scale back your work schedule to make more time for therapeutic activities and supportive relationships. A Lunar Eclipse on the 19th brings the end to a secretive situation that has been making you miserable. Turning your back on this part of your life will be a relief. Lean on your best friend, romantic partner, or workmate during the final weeks of the month. Their loyalty will renew your faith humanity.

The opening days of the month can emphasise the need for fun, romance and adventure. The New Moon on the 4th could make you irritated about the lack of leisure in your life. Until you change your priorities, you'll remain anxious and stressed. Midmonth is ideal for taking a break from work. If you can't go away on vacation, you could enjoy a romantic interlude with the person who is close to your heart. Are you single? This would be a great time to post a profile on a dating site. On the 19th, the Lunar Eclipse will prompt you to leave an organisation or friendship that no longer reflects your values. Devoting more attention to health is strongly advised for the final week of November.

LEO Family matters will inspire a big change on or around the 4th, due to a conflicted New Moon. Alter your approach to work so that you can spend more quality time with your nearest and dearest. VIRGO Traffic tie-ups and electronic breakdowns could wreak havoc in your life on the 4th, due to a tense New Moon. Rather than insisting on moving forward with plans, be flexible. Reschedule a trip or meeting. Use the unexpected free time in your schedule to catch up on your reading, enjoy a movie marathon or listen to relaxing music. The middle of November warns against overindulging in food and drink. Practicing moderation will boost your productivity, helping you attract a good work opportunity. LIBRA Salary negotiations could be stressful at the start of November. The New Moon on the 4th will make it difficult to get the compensation you deserve. Instead of committing to a longterm contract, it might be best to sign on for a couple of months, then renegotiate the terms of the deal early next year. In midNovember, you'll be tempted to spend money that you don't have. Instead of shopping until you drop, it will be better to practice financial restraint. The Lunar Eclipse on the 19th puts strain on an intimate relationship. Maintaining separate bank accounts can put an end to intense squabbles about money. Shafts of sunlight appear during the final week of the month, when you'll get an opportunity to study with a respected teacher.

SCORPIO Resist the temptation to undergo a radical makeover at the beginning of November. Although the New Moon on the 4th will make you yearn for a different look, you could be terrifically disappointed with the results. Wait until next month to alter your hairstyle, radically change your image or attitude, or revamp your wardrobe. In the middle of November, you might face off with a relative who makes great demand on your time and resources. Regaining your freedom will allow you to pursue an intriguing job during the final week of the month. This position will offer lots of intellectual stimulation, travel and study.

SAGITTARIUS The New Moon on the 4th could push you into the background, despite a desire to command the spotlight. Attending to background tasks and administrative work is critical to your wellbeing. After forcing yourself to rest, it will be easier to take a diplomatic approach to a stressful work matter. Beware of talking more than you listen; you don't want to disclose any confidential information to the wrong people. A Lunar Eclipse on the 19th demonstrates the need to take good care of your body. Replace sugar, fat and alcohol with lean protein, fresh produce and whole grains. Your improved diet will give you an attractive glow that's impossible to resist at the end of November. Enjoy the adulation you'll receive.

CAPRICORN Working on a group project could be frustrating at the start of the month. The New Moon on the 4th could throw some technical glitches into a teleconference, making it difficult to see and hear instructions. Instead of trying to force the issue, agree to reconvene later in the week so everyone can easily communicate. The middle of November warns against engaging in retail therapy. If you want to fill an emotional void, pour your energy into realising a dream you've had since childhood. On the 19th, a Lunar Eclipse could cause you to abandon a creative project or romance that has been giving you trouble. Spend the final days of the month engaging in a sacred practice or studying a fascinating belief system.

AQUARIUS The New Moon on the 4th brings your attention to career matters. If an exciting opportunity falls through, don't despair. A bigger and better job will arrive. Your job is to stay positive and imagine yourself doing the work you love. When you act as though you already have the job, it will become yours by mid-month. A Lunar Eclipse on the 19th brings an end to an upsetting family matter. Letting a relative take responsibility for their problems will allow you to focus on a cherished personal goal. During the final week of November, you'll miss the company of your nearest and dearest. If you can't meet in person, arrange a big online reunion. A spirited Zoom chat will make your spirits soar.

PISCES It may be necessary to cancel a trip or academic program near the 4th, due to a challenging New Moon. Instead of dwelling on your disappointment, fill your time with a writing or learning project that stimulates your intellect. Beware of making mountains out of molehills. Dwelling on disappointments and mistakes can drive opportunity from your door. The Lunar Eclipse on the 19th could deliver shocking news about someone you have always admired. Instead of idolising people, remember and embrace their humanity. The last week of the month is ideal for pursuing a career goal. Landing a great position that draws on your creativity will be a great use of the ambitious energy that swirls around you at the end of November.

Maxine (Leeds) asks “I have been increasingly noticing that a person I consider to be an important friend has gradually become quite distant, behaving in ways that are unpleasant, disloyal and even underhand. She arranges things that exclude me and even tries to distance me from others in our friendship group. I’ve tried justifying, ignoring and making allowances for what’s going on by telling myself that she’s preoccupied or depressed, but it’s becoming too obvious and stressful to ignore. I’m hurt because over the years I’ve been a good friend, taking her to concerts and theatre shows, significantly extending her social interests and circle. I work full-time and am busy with a successful career, whilst she has professional qualifications that she’s never used, choosing to stay at home since the birth of her children thirty years ago. I’ve never considered this to be an issue, though it’s been made clear to me and others that my full life and many interests tend to irritate her at times.” Therapist Susan’s reply: There are no guarantees that everyone in our inner circle will stay in our life and it can be a tough realisation when a good friend or longstanding relationship is discovered to be harbouring disdain or even contempt for us and our life choices. Prior to this, have you occasionally noticed subtle cues, prompting you to reflect on the relationship, perhaps causing you to either become silent or try harder with them? If attempts to talk things through resulted in them becoming openly defensive or difficult, maybe even followed by an unenthusiastic apology, you may have to question if you really want to live this way. Will you always have to tolerate being treated badly to ensure that your inner circle runs smoothly? There are times when a person's actions are so divisive that they can cause a split in a friendship group, forcing others to take sides. If you feel that you’re the catalyst for this

Has the time come when you have to accept reality, take stock and accept that their behaviour is their problem? And even if your paths still occasionally cross, safeguarding your peace of mind and not becoming stressed, unhappy or unwell is important. There may be business or social events when you're still required to rub shoulders with them. It’s important to be the ‘bigger person’, smile and be polite in return. It oils the wheels of any meetings, alleviates tension and allows others to feel better able to relax. But, behind the smile, ensure you mentally distance yourself from the relationship, so providing protection from becoming vulnerable and risking the same thing happening again. Remember, if you continue to mix with people who don't value, respect or treat you well you're not doing yourself any favours and are missing out on opportunities to find a circle of real friends. Value yourself by walking away, even though it might mean losing your old connections and, perhaps for a time, ending up alone. When you fill your life with people and things that feed your soul, that bring you joy you'll gradually notice you attract more like-minded people who are supportive and on a similar wavelength to you. When you value yourself, you let others value you too.

Paul Pogba Releases Vegan Football Boot With Adidas & Stella McCartney Plant Based News have confirmed that the athlete designed the shoe over lockdown when he was missing playing football. Then, he had a chat with sustainable fashion designer Stella McCartney and the idea was born. ‘Hearing how passionate [Pogba] was about fashion and learning how much we had in common really sparked the inspiration for co-creating this iconic boot’, McCartney said in a statement sent to PBN. She added: “One comment that stuck with me was how fashion was part of his personality both on and off the pitch, so it was important for this to shine through in the design.” Speaking on the launch, Pogba revealed it’s an ‘incredible feeling’ to combine his passion for football and style. As well as being vegan, the Predator Freak features recycled materials. And, it’s gender-neutral too. ‘The boots we created with Adidas are bold and unique, and I can’t wait to wear them when I step onto the pitch’, he added.
