July 16, 2026 Flood Event
Ready When it
Matters Most Preparation doesn’t begin when the lights go out—it happens long before an emergency impacts our community.
When Kerr County experienced historic flooding for the second consecutive year this July, KPUB called for mutual aid before sunrise and immediately began mobilizing every available resource to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. This marked only the third time in KPUB’s history that we’ve requested mutual aid.

MUTUAL AID ORGANIZATIONS Answered the Call for Help
Widespread outages across our service area presented unique challenges, and every restoration effort was different. When floodwaters damaged the Cade Loop bridge in Ingram, our crews worked with local property owners to establish a safe temporary access route across private property, allowing us to reach customers who otherwise would have remained inaccessible. At the City of Kerrville’s water plant, a local business owner teamed up with our crews to use drone technology to pull lines across the Guadalupe River, helping repair the damaged river crossing. Despite the widespread damage and challenging conditions, most customers had power restored the same day, with all remaining outages restored the following day. I’m incredibly proud of our employees and grateful for the support of James Power Line Construction, Sendero Power Line Construction, Townsend Tree Service, ASAP Roofing and Renovation, the local property owners, and everyone who worked alongside us throughout this restoration. Although the lights are back on, our work continues. We’ll keep strengthening our electric system and preparing for whatever comes next. Because when our community needs us most, we’ll always be ready.

Flood Recovery Resilience Takes Root

KPUB’s Adopt-a-River Trail project is a long-term commitment to restoring the Guadalupe River corridor. Since planting 72 native trees this spring, employee volunteers have continued returning to water the young trees, repair protective cages, and care for the trail. While July’s flooding impacted the River Trail once again, many of the young trees remain standing—a reminder that resilience takes root over time.
Symbols of Resilience Take home a symbol of Hill Country resilience. Complimentary Hill Country Strong and Lupe the Bass “Just Keep Swimming” stickers are available by request in the KPUB lobby or drive-thru while supplies last.
