Michelle Bishop Allen, Versailles, graduated from UK in 2006 majoring in accounting and finance. She received her M.B.A. from UK in May 2010. She has worked for Ashland Inc. for the last six years where she has had roles in Internal Audit, Supply Chain Planning and now is an associate brand manager for Valvoline Global Brands. At UK she was a member of the Student Government Association where she served as a senator at large, and president of Alpha Lambda Delta honor society.

Jeffrey L. Ashley, Louisville, graduated from UK in 1989, earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism and in 1997 from Webster University earning a master’s degree in marketing. He is president and senior consultant of Ashley|Rountree & Associates, a consulting firm he founded that focuses on philanthropy and a nonprofit leadership business. He is past president of the Greater Louisville UK Alumni Club. He is a member of the Trinity High School Foundation Board and a member of the Rotary Club of Louisville.

George L. Atkins Jr., Hopkinsville and Columbus, Ga., graduated in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and in 1986 from Yale University’s Executive Leadership Program. He attended UK on a full fouryear basketball scholarship. Atkins served as mayor of Hopkinsville, auditor of public accounts and Kentucky secretary of finance. He was also a senior vice president at Humana for 10 years. In 1991 Atkins founded Health Reform Strategies, a health care consulting firm. He was a charter member and president of the HopkinsvilleChristian County UK Alumni Club and a member of the President’s Club and KFund. Atkins is active in his local community, including as a member of the Columbus Rotary Club.

Lisa Greenwell Atkinson, Lexington, graduated from UK in 1992 majoring in communications and from the University of Louisville in 1994 with a master’s in education. At UK, she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Atkinson is the di-

rector of alumni programs and marketing in the UK College of Engineering and previously worked in the UK Alumni Association and Office of Development. She is a current board member and past president of both the Fayette County UK Alumni Club and the Lexington Dream Factory. Atkinson is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Lexington and is a 2003 graduate of Leadership Lexington.

Price Atkinson, Easley, S.C., earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism in December 1997. He was a three-year varsity letter winner on the UK men’s swimming and diving team (1994-97) and a staff writer for the Kentucky Kernel. He has worked in public relations at various levels (UK Sports Information, U.S. Naval Academy Athletic Media Relations, Congressman Bob Inglis, America’s Health Insurance Plans) and is director of communications and development with the Energy & Enterprise Initiative based at George Mason University. Atkinson has served on the UKAA Board of Directors since 2009. In 2008, he founded and started the Upstate S.C. UK Alumni Club, serving as club president for three years.

William “Bill” Bacon, Flemingsburg, attended undergraduate school at UK from 1975-1978, and was accepted into the UK College of Medicine, graduating in 1982 and completing a family practice residency in 1985. He has spent 28 years of practice in Flemingsburg, and his solo practice has grown into a three physician and one midlevel provider. Bacon is a member of the Medical Alumni Association and an associate volunteer faculty member of the UK College of Medicine and UK College of Health Sciences. He is still in full time practice and an active member of the Medical Staff at Fleming County Hospital, as well as an active member of the local Board of Health.

Trudy Webb Banta, Indianapolis, Ind., received a bachelor’s degree in education in 1963 and a master’s degree in counseling in 1965 from UK. Her doctorate in educational psychology is from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville. Banta is a professor of education and senior advisor to the chancel-

lor at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis. She is the author or editor of 18 published volumes and over 300 articles and reports, and she has received nine national awards for her work. She is a 2005 UK Alumni Association Hall of Distinguished Alumni recipient.

Ted Bates, Lexington, received a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture in 1952, having previously been a student at Louisville Male High School. He has been the owner of the Bates Farm in Lexington and was also named Farm Manager of the Year by the Kentucky oroughbred Farm Manager’s Club in 1993. Bates developed and managed BKY Farm before starting Bates Farm in 1986. He is also a former general manager of Fasig-Tipton Co. in Kentucky. In addition, he has managed Wimbledon Farm, Pine Grove Farm and was a member of the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees for two terms.

Richard A. Bean, Louisville, graduated from the Gatton College of Business and Economics in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in business. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and the Junior Inter-Fraternity Council. Bean retired from a 35-year banking career with Liberty National Bank and BB&T. He also served in the U.S. Army with duty in Germany and Vietnam. Bean is active in the Greater Louisville UK Alumni Club and was a previous president. He also serves on a number of Home Builders Association boards. He is a member of, and has been chairman of, the Kentucky Community and Technical College System Board of Directors.

Brian R. Bergman, Georgetown, received bachelor’s degrees in mining engineering in 1985 and civil engineering in 1986 from UK. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and was on the UK Student Government Association. Bergman spent 10 years in the Washington, D.C., area and worked for two commercial building contractors.

Now in Kentucky, he is the vice president of a national construction firm and active in several construction associations. Bergman has been a member of the UK Alumni Association for 26 years and has also been active in local UK Alumni Clubs. He was president of the Washington, D.C., club in the early ’90s and is now leading a startup club in Georgetown and serving on the UK Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Heath F. Bowling, Paducah, graduated from UK in 1996. He is a certified financial planner and advisor for Edward Jones Investments in Paducah. He is past president of the McCracken County UK Alumni Club and is actively involved in student recruitment activities through the club. Bowling is also involved in the community, currently serving on the advisory board for the Salvation Army and the St. Nicholas Free Clinic.

Willis K. Bright Jr., Indianapolis, Ind., is director of youth programs at Lilly Endowment in Indianapolis. He works with local, state and na-

tional organizations that are building youth development opportunities. Previously Bright was manager of issues and research in Honeywell’s Corporate and Community Responsibility Department and has been a board member for the Association of Black Foundation Executives and Indiana Blacks in Philanthropy. He also serves on the UK College of Social Work Advisory Council and has been inducted into the college’s Hall of Fame. He is active in community service, including the Beautillion Militaire Committee for the 100 Black Men. Jeffrey J. Brock, Harlan, received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from UK in 1984. He was a member of the football team for two years. Following graduation from UK, Brock attended Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University, aerward returning to Harlan to practice law for 18 years. He has been serving as the Harlan District Court Judge, and he is active in many civic organizations, including the Rotary Club, Lion’s Club, and the Harlan County 4-H and Extensions Councils. Brock is the past president and vice president of the Cumberland Valley East UK Alumni Club.
