nursing home toilet accessory

Concept

Most elderly in the nursing home need to have safety for using toilets.Due to the most accidents in toilets happening to the elderly, this art thesis is based on the problems of using toilets in the elderly as a guideline in design,including informantion of toilets surveyed in the nursing home in term of application, problems and environment in order to improve the design.

Research

According to the real place, it is found that although the toilets in private nursing home are in good condition, they lack caretaker who can be accessible enough. Besides,there are not enough special appliances in the toilets for the elderly. The main cause is that some private homes are adapted to be nursing homes which need to renovate their toilets suitable for the elderly. While governmental toilets are in bad conditions with sub-standard sanitary products due to no provided budget for development. According to the mentioned problems, it leads to a guideline to design supplementary appliances to normal toilets for safe use facility as well as new application for toilet space.

The design is consisted of three main parts. First, Toilet armrests the moving difficulty when standing and sitting. Moreover any build-in is not necessaryfor regular toilet armrest. Second, supplementary appliance of flush button which reduces problem of bending yourself to press flush button Third, bathtub which the elderly can either stand up or sit down when taking a bath. With this bathtub, the elderly can use only one water bucket with auto water filling in order to lessen caretaker burden.

Toilet armrests Easy to Install 1 : Insert steel structure into the underside of the toiletbowl water tank. 2 : Insert the armrests between the gap. 3 : Assemble knot for weight supporting the armrests. 4 : Repeat step 2 snd step 3. 5 : The product is available.
