Winthrop sits on a 100 acre campus complimented by a 325 acre recreational area


The West Center The West Center is located in the center of campus and accessible to all Winthrop students. On the first floor is an impressive 36 foot climbing wall, 4 basketball courts which will also serve as volleyball and badminton courts, 4 racquetball courts, a 25-yard pool with 8 lanes, a 2,000 square foot cardio space, and an 8,000 square foot weight room and an aerobics/activity room. The second floor houses an additional aerobics/activity room, a 1/8 mile track, 4 additional cardio stations for a total of 56 pieces of equipment, and the administrative offices for Health and Physical Education, Sport Management, Recreational Services and the West Center Director.

Winthrop is on the cutting edge of Technology

The Center is equipped with a stock ticker that runs around the perimeter, world clocks, a nine-screen data wall for cable news feed, and Bloomberg, Telemet Orion and Morningstar financial data to use in real-world trading simulations. The center accomodates 24 students with double-screen computers and has a second level Mezzanine for viewing the activity. The building also contains a 220-seat auditorium , two seminar rooms, a 50-station computer lab that can be split into two classrooms and six breakout collaboration spaces.

Paul Molinari Assistant Coach • Ninth year on staff at Winthrop • CollegeInsider.com Top 25 Assistant Coach in America • Served as an assistant coach under legendary head coach Rollie Massimino for 12 years at Villanova, UNLV and Cleveland State • Also served as an assistant coach at Wichita State and Kent State • Was part of three NCAA tournament teams while at Villanova and UNLV, and made two post-season NIT appearances • Works with Post Players at Winthrop


Kenny Burr Director of Basketball Operations • Fourth Season on Staff • Helped lead 2009-2010 team to Big South Championship and NCAA Tournament Birth • Has extensive experience working camps at Duke, South Carolina, Clemson, College of Charleston, Florida, Wofford, Five Star Camp, Morgan Wooten’s Camp, Kevin Boyle’s Backourt Camp, and the Eastern Invitational. He served as an assistant coach at South Aiken High School and as head coach of the 16U Nike Team Georgia Elite AAU team prior to joining staff at Winthrop.
