KE paisajista | Jesús Gómez Nos pidieron colaboración para crear este jardín en el Puerto de Santa María. Como las dimensiones de la parcela no eran muy grandes, tuvimos que agudizar mucho nuestro ingenio para sacar espacio y así ver cumplidoS los sueños y necesidades de sus moradores.
We were asked to collaborate in the creation of a garden in Puerto de Santa Maria. As the size of the plot was not very big, we had to use a lot of ingenuity to take advantage of the space and make the dweller’s dreams come true and fulfil their needs.
La piscina se ubicó en un lateral de la casa, aprovechando un amplio pasillo existente, y así dejamos exenta la zona trasera para el disfrute de una pradera, sin obstáculos que la limitaran. En esta zona de la finca antes había una enorme pendiente, que concentramos en un lateral, creando terrazas con traviesas de tren, sirviéndonos Ésta como pantalla de la casa vecina. Además ubicamos árboles y arbustos mediterráneos recortados con el arte topiario, como los antiguos, haciendo un guiño a los antiguos griegos y sus “bosques sagrados”.
The swimming pool is located on one side of the house, making the most of the existing pathway. We left the back part empty to be enjoyed as if it was a meadow, with no obstacles limiting it. There was an enormous slope on this part of the plot, in which we centred our efforts, creating terraces with railway sleepers, acting as a screen from the neighbouring house. In addition we planted Mediterranean trees and bushes trimmed with topiary art, like ancient gardens, as a tribute to the ancient Greeks and their ‘sacred forests.’
Las plantas que usamos juegan con tonos glaucos, como teucrium fruticans, olea sylvestris, ficus carica, cupresus…. Así creamos un microescenario, que cumple triple objetivo: disimular y contener desnivel, crear privacidad, y embellecer esta zona del jardín, gracias a esas masas arbustivas y las esculturas que realizamos, recortadas en chapa de hierro, y que hacen alusión a ese guiño al mundo helenístico: ninfas (En la mitología griega, una ninfa es una deidad menor femenina típicamente asociada a un lugar natural concreto, como puede ser un manantial, un arroyo, un monte, un mar o una arboleda ), y Fauno, ser mitológico caracterizado por su lascivia, que habitaba en los campos y selvas junto con las ninfas; se representa con figura humana de orejas puntiagudas, cuernos y patas de cabra.
The plants we used were of light green tones, such as Teucrium fruticans, olea sylvestris, ficus carica, cupressus… We created a micro stage in this way, which fulfilled three objectives, concealing and containing the slope, creating privacy and embellishing this area of the garden, thanks to the tree mass and sculptures we created. They were made out of steel sheets suggesting the Hellenistic world, nymphs (in Greek mythology, a nymph was a minor female deity typically associated with a specific nature spot, such as a spring, a stream, a mountain, a sea or a grove) and Fawn, a mythological being known for its lewdness, who inhabited fields and forests with the nymphs and was represented with a human figure with pointed ears, horns and goat hooves. We designed a little classical style multipurpose pavilion at the back of the garden and in the centre in relation to the main house’s porch. We placed a fountain on the wall, in axis to the house viewpoint, which is on the highest point and on the sides of the house, we made the most of the space to locate a changing room and a bath room allin-one, and a room for the gardener’s tools, a store room in the other. Flanking this and symmetrically, we placed some benches from our store, with acanthus leaves, very Romanesque, and Cupressus sempervirens, which exalts the ensemble. What is used as a gate, when the children play football in this space, are some old letters from our store, which we mounted on steel plinths as if they were sculptures, we enjoyed making them so much, “the end is the beginning”, “the beginning is the end”, hinting to that idea we have, that all of us,
