Toesocks—INJINJI I had no idea what I was in for. Even though my roommates and colleagues teased me for wearing the Injinji Toesocks , the joke was on them. After a day hike and a long day in the mountains, my feet felt fabulous. These socks are a pain to get into and they may look a little goofy, but the comfort pays off and then some. Available at Bozeman Running Company. $12; injinji.COm.

Peony Foldover Turtle and Peony Long Jane—ISIS The Peony Foldover Turtle top and the Peony Long Jane bottoms are essential layers for tackling powder. Breathable, lightweight, and moisture-wicking, this top and bottom combo is one of the best ski layers I've worn. The duo's seamless construction prevents chafing, and the nylon and spandex fabrics move with your body, allowing you to ride comfortably. My favorite feature of the set is fit. The bottoms are long but don't bunch or ride. They're high-waisted to keep snow and cold out, but you can alsofold them overfor a sleeker fit. Length in the sleeves and torso prevents that irritating (and frigid) feeling of bare skin being slapped by the cold. The turtleneck also substitutes for a neck warmer on colder days and you can fold it down for spring skiing. Available at g iris Outdoors, Northern Lights, Timber Trails, and g allatin Alpine Sports. $65 and $59; isisforwomen.com. —aMnsundborg

LOVE ne Sozematt^M!
These insulated winter boots were a little girly for my taste but extremely functional in wet, slushy weather. They have a plush fur lining to block out snow, and the lacing system is very secure. The Vibram soles are great for tread, but the shoe felt a little high for me, almost like a platform boot—perhaps because they're filled with primaLoft, arch support, and a cushioned heel to absorb shock. But platform or no, I do love these moon boots. (And note the snowflake design on the ankle!) Available at REI and Wholesale Sports. $125;
