Dear Beef Producers, Danielle and I would like to welcome you to our 16th Annual Production Sale. Again, this year, we will be joining together with the Slagle Family to host this event at their ranch located northwest of Sargent, NE. We are very grateful for the continued partnership we have maintained with Mark and Kristin since purchasing the mature cowherd from them in 2012. All the cattle with the prefix “O A” have been bred, born, and developed at our Ranch south of Ansley, NE. In addition, the Slagle’s have also developed 40 powerful bulls at their Ranch where the sale is held. This offering of bulls and females are bred to perform and are full of end product merit. Regardless of your marketing strategy, we feel that this set of bulls will sire calves that are sure to add pounds to your calf crop on sale day. The momma cows that have produced this group of cattle are excellent in terms of fertility, maternal performance, disposition, mothering ability, and udder quality. We have worked very closely with our nutritionist to develop these bulls with our customers in mind. Our main focus is to produce sound-footed, athletic, breeding bulls that will handle the first breeding season with fewer problems. As always, the bulls sell with a first breeding season guarantee. The heifers selling have been hand selected from our replacements. The heifers selling are mostly A. I. sired by many breed-leading sires. We have worked hard to provide as much data on this offering as possible to assist you in the selection process. Welcome to Slagle Angus for our annual Ranchers Bull Sale. Thank You for your interest in our program and the cattle we will be offering at our 2017 production sale. We are again hosting the Ostrand Angus Family as we combine our annual sale for the fourth year. Combining the production of our two individual herds into one production sale allows us to offer high quality, performance bred Angus cattle to our customers in volume. The cattle being offered for sale have over forty years of selection for maternal, carcass and performance traits. The entire Slagle Angus offering has performance EPD’s and $Values averages that rank in the top 2% of the breed for Yearling Weight EPD and for $Feedlot value. They also average in the top 5% for Weaning Weight EPD and the top 10% for $Beef. The maternal values of these bulls average in the top 10% of the highly maternal Angus breed. The EPD’s and $Values are backed up with an average gain on test of 4.48 pounds per day for a lengthy 118 day test period. When measured by ultrasound for carcass quality, the bulls posted average adjusted Ribeye measurements of 15.01 sq. inches and an adjusted Marbling score of 5.4 % IMF. We are excited to be offering the first calf crop from our new herd sire, L/R Shaman 4036. Shaman is a big framed sire with excellent calving ease. He is as long bodied and clean sheathed as they come. The Shaman sons in this sale have high carcass quality and top performance. We have a top-notch set of calves on the ground in 2017 sired by Shaman. The volume discounts, breeding guarantees, boarding and delivery programs are all described in the catalog.
