Letter from the President Friends of KCC, It is with abundant pride that I share with you the 2016-17 annual report from Kellogg Community College and the Kellogg Community College Foundation. KCC is an institution that never sleeps; this year’s report illustrates that fact once again. On behalf of the College and the Foundation, I thank you for your interest in higher education and invite you to examine this report to gain insight into how we’re evolving organizationally, how we’re guiding students smoothly into their academic and career pathways and how we’re playing a central role in developing successful workers for well-paying jobs in the communities we serve. In the past year alone, we helped hundreds of people learn advanced skills that landed them a new job or a pay raise. We also received national recognition for our service-learning program and statewide recognition for our dedication to employee wellness. Simultaneously, we provided rigorous academic instruction to some 10,500 students who span an enormous range of interests and intentions. Throughout 2016-17, KCC extended options for high school students to take college courses as dual enrolled and early college students. We added course offerings, aligned schedules, offered discounted tuition rates and created additional capacity for teenagers to begin their KCC journeys while they’re still in high school. Not only are they receiving an excellent education at KCC, they are jump-starting their college careers and saving thousands of dollars. Also this past year, the College and Foundation acted strategically to acquire new grant money from private and public sources to pay for services, programs and facilities that we know will benefit our students today and in the future. To cite two examples, we recently expanded our Center for Diversity and Innovation, which is working to create a more equitable and inclusive Battle Creek, and began the demolition and replacement of our Miller Physical Education Building for modern instructional and athletic purposes. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating the milestones and achievements that comprised KCC’s 60th year and continue to support us as we serve the educational interests of people across Calhoun, Barry and Branch counties.
