Team 8Cis thrilled to be in the new wing now with all the great technology!
Mr. Hartings: American History The second quarter of Social Studies with Mr. Hartings was a great learning
experience. The first topic we learned about was the beginning of our new nation. We focused on the problems the country faced and the freedoms we gained as citizens in our country. We focused on the writing of the Constitution and the creation of our three branches of government. We learned about the War of 1812 and the positive and negative outcomes of it. We also learned about the Lewis and Clark Expedition and what they discovered for the country in their explorations of the Louisiana Territory. The purchase from France at a low price helped to double the size of the United States. Throughout this entire learning process, Mr. Hartings has made it fun and interesting while continuing to teach us everything we need. We learned a lot this quarter and will continue to learn throughout this semester. Written By: Taylor ROOOFFFF!!!!
Mr. Fagan: Math
In Math 8, we have been working with triangles, other polygons, and 3D figures. Now we are beginning to work with proportions. Stephen Hastings In Algebra the past couple of weeks we have been learning how to solve systems of equations. We’ve been graphing, using substitution and elimination. Brandon Cooper “El Prsedente” P.S. Mr. Fagan is a great teacher who uses power point slides to teach
Mrs. Edwards: English Welcome to Mr. Stephens, student teacher! The second quarter, along with Mrs. Edwards teaching us, we got a student teacher from Xavier named Mr. Stephens. He helped us with getting to know vocabulary chapters better as we went over them. We also did a research report about racism and rights that people have. Our class mainly focused on the Holocaust. We used many resources to help and Mrs. Edwards also gave many guidelines to help us succeed. With the project of your choice (power point, poster board, song, etc.) we also had to present it in front of the class. To start off our theme in racism before hand, we read the story, The Diary of Anne Frank. Getting to know about the actions Hitler forced upon the Jews we realized that it was unfair. We got taught a lot this quarter and plan on learning more next semester. Meaghan Swearingen
Mr. Thompson: Science Last quarter in science we learned about things such as Weather, the layers of the atmosphere, different types of precipitation, and how to draw and interpret a weather map. In weather we learned about the different ways heat can be transferred which are conduction, convection, and radiation. We learned about the troposphere, stratosphere, thermosphere, and the exosphere. We learned why precipitation occurs and what humidity is. We ended with learning how to draw a weather map and tell what symbols mean what. We will begin learning about science next quarter.
