THE DANCESCHOOL THE SCALE OF A CITY SECOND YEAR

DANCESCHOOL PERMEABLE PROCESS Upon the decision to devide the floors of the building into three separate parts in order to excavate its central part, another adjustment had to be comitted. This concerned the lack of space as a consequence of the additional seating area. However, the audience could now approach the scene of performance, since this now technically would sit on the floor.

With thought of the extra space which now would be created due to the excavation, the pocketspaces, in addition to the outer balconies could serve as a café space as well as a space for meeting and correspondence.

IN FLOORPLANS & SECTION

A.

Flexibility is achieved through an emphasism of the layering floors. Elaborating the vertical and the horisontal to stimulate a cultural dynamism as well as allowing of permiability. Designing flexibility within danceschool through combining breathing-space with smaller pocketspaces allows dynasism.

THE URBAN GARDEN A LEARNING PLATFORM.

The task to perform a Bachelor project, based on an intervention intended to occur in Ålidhem, Umeå, Sweden. A part of the Swedish housing programme called Miljonprogrammet. Performed within a studio called Social Landscapes, a research profiled studio.

The project is based upon urban investigations concerning the site heritage. Ålidhem is cold during winter and prospering during summer, a time where its student population are scattered elsewhere for holidays. The goal within the project is to contain the site history through imitationg the site’s North-East topographical lines, imitating its surrounding landscape, creating a learning platform within an urban garden intended to manage through winter. This though shelters of architectral character.
