“I love working at GVSU because of the professional development opportunities. The more I can grow and develop, the more of an impact I can have on student’s lives.” - MarcQus Wright Assistant Director Illinois State University (Graduate Instituion) Illinois State University (Undergraduate Institution)

Gender Neutral Housing Our Housing & Residence Life department is one of the first schools in Michigan to offer Gender Neutral Housing. Through collaborating with students and the LGBT Resource Center, our department has made intentional changes to make sure all of our students feel safe and supported by their community. Gender Neutral Housing is defined as a housing option in which two or more students may share a multiple occupancy apartment regardless of the students’ sex or gender. This gives students the opportunity to base their roommate choice on factors other than gender, such as living habits and personality compatibility Gender Neutral Housing is open to all students whose needs are not met by our traditional housing options and is available throughout campus in all multiple occupancy units. Gender Neutral Housing supports the University’s non-discrimination policy, which includes sexual orientation and gender identity/ expression.
