Change in Management Air Marshal (Retd) Masood Akhtar took over as Chairman KEF, Pakistan with effect from 21st November, 2011. We are confident that he will bring to KEF a leadership which is experienced, dynamic and able to promote KEF vision and objectives efficiently and effectively. KEF extends thanks and gratitude to Maj Gen (Retd) M. Rahim Khan, the outgoing Chairman, for his vision and guidance which enabled the Foundation to excel in its standards, in line with its mission, during his tenure. Gen Rahim would continue to be on the KEF's Board and we expect to receive his guidance in the years to come.

Global School Partnership Programme For exposure to learning in a new and vibrant environment, Zara Riaz Khan, a PVPS student of Class XI was invited by Valentines High School, Ilford, UK, for a 15 days’ visit.

Board Results-2011 Pearl Valley Public School (PVPS) again achieved 100% success in its Matric (Class X) Exams of Federal Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (FBISE), Islamabad.

SSC (Part-II)

Hurmat Saeed Khan, student of Class IX (obtained 501 marks out of 525 marks) stood FIRST in District Poonch, (AJ&K).

Essay Competition-Results (Global School Partnership Programme) Sabahat Khurshid, a PVPS student of Class IX, second position in the Essay Writing Competition organised by Valentines High School (VHS), UK, as part of “Global School Partnership Programme”. She was awarded £ 25 cash prize, a shield along with a GSP Certificate.

PVPS’ HONOUR Zara Riaz Khan, of PVPS stood FIRST in AJ&K and secured 13th position in Federal Board's SSC (Part-II) examinations 2011 among 61,474 students (obtained 1006 marks out of 1050 marks) .

HSSC (Part I & II) The result of HSSC was also commendable. Pearl Valley Public School & College secured two positions (sixth and twelfth) among the top 20 candidates of AJ&K Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Mirpur (AJKBISE). On behalf of the Board of Trustees, KEF extends its congratulations to the students, faculty and parents for their achievement.

Dr. Qazi's Visit to PVPS&C Dr. Abdul Mujeeb Qazi, Foreign Consultant of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan visited Pearl Valley Public School & College on 15th July. He shared his views and ideas with the position holders of PVPS in Board Exams on Science and Technology and appreciated the overall efforts of KEF in imparting such high quality education to the bright children from underprivileged areas.

Annual Reunion of KEF's Alumni was held at PVPS on 30th July in which maximum ex-students participated actively. An extravaganza/ variety program was also organized by them. Maj. General (Retd) M. Rahim Khan, Founder Chairman KEF, Sardar Habib Khan, Chief Patron KEF, available Trustees and Directress CTE attended the event .

Independence Day of Pakistan To imbue the spirit of nationalism the independence day of Pakistan was celebrated on 14th August at Pearl Valley Public School & College (AJ&K). In this connection, debates and contests of national songs were also organized.

In-Service Training Programme for KEF Teachers

The underprivileged but GIFTED children of the SOCIETY.... Defence Day and The Quaid's Death Anniversary Celebrations To pay tribute to the Founder of Pakistan-Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and our National Heroes, a ceremony was held on 13 th September at SVPS. Maj. Gen. (R) M. Rahim Khan, Founder Chairman KEF honored the ceremony as the Chief Guest. He appreciated the students' performances.

Principals’ Coordination Committee Meeting The first meeting of Principals’ Coordination Committee was held on th 17 September, which was attended by all the Principals of KEF schools. It was chaired by Principal PVPS.

For the capacity building of KEF school teachers a two days teacher training workshop was organized by ITE at PVPS on 28th & 29th of July.

Coaching Classes

SVPS-Prefects for Year 2011-12 Maj. Gen. (Retd) M. Rahim Khan, Founder Chairman KEF awarded the sashes to the SVPS prefects for the th year 2011-12 in a ceremony on 13 September, 2011.

To i m p r o v e t h e o v e r a l l performance in Annual Board Exams, coaching classes for the students of grade IX-XII were held in September.

Parent Teacher Meetings were held at all KEF schools. All parents assured their assistance throughout the academic career of their children.

O B I T UA RY Mr. Abdul Razzak Kazi, a Founder Trustee of KEFth passed away on 30 September, 2011. He served KEF with his valuable and prolific ideas during the construction of all its premises established, so far. His absence on the KEF Board will be felt.

As a mandatory part of their studies, Trainee Teachers of PGDC-09 underwent a four weeks’ Teaching Practice at KEF schools during October.

Social Studies and English was held on 24th September. Principal SVPS, its faculty/ students and three local school principals were also invited on the event. All exhibits received great appreciation which encouraged the students to find and explore more innovations in future.

Day Care Center

Drama Festival On 17th Sept, ITE students staged following dramas: Ÿ “A Man for all Seasons”,

by Robert Bolt-in English. Ÿ “Firdos-e-Bareein”, by Abdul Haleem Sharar-in Urdu.

To facilitate KEF’s faculty/ staff, a Day Care Center is now fully functional and equipped at Basali Complex, District Rawalpindi.

Annual Examinations of PGDC - Batch 09 were held from 21st-25th November at Institute of Teacher Education, Basali Complex (Rawat) Rawalpindi.

KEF’s Institute of Teacher Education (ITE) has been upgraded to College and renamed as

“College of Teacher Education-(CTE)”

Annual Founders’ Day was held on 15th November at Pearl Valley Public School & College. President Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Sardar Haji Muhammad Yaqoob Khan was the Chief Guest. He lauded the students’ performance and commended their achievements in academics and other extracurricular activities. Donations of Rs. 30,000/- (as an appreciation for the students) and Rs. 1,000,000/- (for the infra structural development of the school) were announced by the President AJ&K. The ceremony ended with the distribution of Shields and Certificates to the students on their best performance in various fields. Teaching faculty, students and their parents of SVPS and BVPS also attended the function.

Assessment of Pre-School Intelligence Development (APID) Test-Intake for Session 2012 was conducted from 8th to 11th December at Pearl Valley Public School & College (PVPS&C) and Banjosa Valley Public School (BVPS).

Sports Gala Soan Valley Public School (SVPS) held the Annual Sports Day on 22nd December. Air Marshal (Retd) Masood Akhtar, Chairman KEF was the Chief Guest. The students of SVPS presented fabulous performances and made the event colorful.

Trustees, parents, local notables, Heads of educational Institutions from surrounding areas, members of the Khan Family and KEF faculty attended the event.
