The neighborhood is home to a few large parks, such as Coffey Park and the Red Hook Recreational Fields that structure the urban fabric. Coffey Park, for example, is located at the intersection between the two orientations of the Red Hook grid. The Recreational Fields separate the Red Hook Houses from the waterfront. The latter are known for the big football matches played there, and the large outside swimming pool. The park system also consists of a few smaller parks, such as the Louis Valentino Jr. Park at the waterfront. It is one of the few places where the waterfront is accessible.
