“KEEN offers something which is unique. The ability to 'drop in' on a range of activities - but more importantly the ability to mix and make friends” A KEEN parent
Providing a truly exceptional service… KEEN is a registered charity and joint organisation of Oxford and Oxford Brookes Universities. Run by a team of enthusiastic, dedicated and inspirational volunteers, we provide social, sporting and recreational activities for children and young adults in and around Oxford with a broad range of special needs, such as downs syndrome, cerebral palsy and autism. We run four weekly sessions: GrEAT (a social club for over 18’s), KEEN Teens (a social club for teenagers), ZigZag (a performing arts session for younger children), and Allsorts (a Saturday afternoon sports session). We also run a number of special events throughout the year, for example climbing, ice skating, theatre and daytrips. We are able to provide one-to-one pairing for our athletes, and each session involves specialist equipment tailored to their needs. With the exception of GrEAT, which charges a small subscription to members, all of our sessions are free to the children involved. What does KEEN achieve? Simply put, the sessions that KEEN run transform the lives of our athletes and young adults. They get to socialise in a safe and fun environment, their families can see their child progress and get respite for a few hours each week, knowing their child is in safe hands. Furthermore, our volunteers develop a wide range of skills in leadership, organisation, teamwork, and working with young people.
“We are delighted to have raised valuable funds for KEEN, which is a wonderful charity for young people with special needs” France Baudet MD CannelleBeaute
Make a difference to the lives of families and young people in Oxfordshire today... KEEN costs around £70,000 a year to run, and we are reliant on donations from businesses and individuals, and grants from trusts and other organisations. Businesses and individuals support us in a number of ways, through donations, fundraising, gifts in kind, and by offering other services and expertise. What could KEEN do for you? We hope that the warm fuzzy feeling that comes from helping us to help young people through KEEN is rewarding in itself. But your association with KEEN does not end with your financial support. For many of our supporters, this is just the beginning of our relationship. We work actively in collaboration with each of our supporters to develop a mutually beneficial partnership, something we feel is both incredibly important and worthwhile. Our supporters really become a part of the KEEN family. KEEN can work with you to provide publicity opportunities and to enhance your reputation.

In the past supporters have organised office collections, payroll giving, dinners and auctions. We encourage supporters to have fun and be creative in fundraising for KEEN, and can offer a range of support along the way.

£500 will fund the annual KEEN Olympics, including large marquee tents and medals for all participating athletes £1000 will fund one day trip for 40 children and their carers £4000 will fund the hire of a leisure centre in which to run sixteen of our popular Saturday sports sessions between October and March
