Kansas City Power & Light Completes Acquisition of Aquila The acquisition of Aquila by Kansas City Power & Light was completed midJuly, meaning that Grandview customers--both residential and commercial--now share the same electricity provider. Over the next few weeks, customers will begin to notice a transition from Aquila to the KCP&L brand. The transition also means that some familiar faces in the community will change or move to different territories. Chamber Chairman of the Board Matt Dority is being promoted to District Manager for the North District. His office will be in St. Joseph, Missouri and his district covers the cities of Maryville, Mound City, Trenton and other communities up to the Iowa bBorder. Formerly, Dority served as Field Operations Superintendent from the Olathe, Kansas office. He will continue his chairmanship until the Chamber’s year-end on September 30, 2008. Mark Dawson, Past Chairman for the Chamber, is now serving as District Community Affairs Manager for the South and Southeast districts which include Sedalia, Warrensburg, Marshall, Carrollton, Clinton & Warsaw. For the past several years, Dawson had served as Economic Development Manager (South) for Aquila. The new Manager of Economic Development for the Grandview and Cass County areas will be Greg Kindle of KCP&L. Kindle was already serving in that role with the company, so now his territory will now move from the northern edge of Grandview to the entire community.
