Projecting Perspectives Charleston, SC l Summer 2009 Independent Study l Critic: Martin Gundersen

The Charleston Trades Exhibition Hall exhibits various pieces of temporary and permanent artwork and largescale sculptures. Located on the corner of Cumberland St and Queen St, the intervention provides elevated views of the surrounding cemetery and St Phillip’s Church. Drawing from the surrounding context and the city’s traditional palm baskets, the Exhibition Hall reflects the notions of horizontal compression and vertical expansion to stitch itself into the fabric of Charleston.
