Fire and Earth: Formations in the Desert Spring 2009 UF Design 4 l critic: Levent Kara

The desert project explores the idea of creating place in a vast landscape without any indication of scale or location. Conditions of the desert (such as sun orientation, weather, time) and human movement were important notions used to mark the landscape and introduce a sense of scale in this haven for land artists and glass sculptors. Maintaining a sense of verticality was also critical in the flatness of the desert.
