Newsletter 2 of 2013 Greetings from the Kasparov Chess Foundation Africa, and welcome to our second newsletter of 2013! Our first event of the 2013 calendar year was the Waterkloof Open and congratulations are definitely due to Marissa van der Merwe and her exceptional team for running another outstanding tournament! We have also made progress with a number of exciting sponsorship opportunities and we are confident that we will have some exciting announcements on this front in our next edition. Players looking for a chance to play in another major international tournament are encouraged to look at the 2013 Capablanca Open which will be held in Pretoria at the end of April. This event is expected to feature two separate IM norm sections this year and will also offer a host of strong FIDE rated round robins for players looking to secure or improve on their FIDE ratings. Feedback and / or contributions to this newsletter are always welcome so please feel free to respond should you have comments or suggestions for items you would like to see included in future editions.
