The Little Mr. And Miss pageant is one block west of Highway 33 on Washington Street. Events being held in conjunction with the Jesse James Festival include the black powder shoot at the James Farm Museum, located three miles east of Highway 33, via Missouri Highway 92 to Jesse James Farm Road — turn north and follow the road as it curves to the east. The James Farm will be on the north side of the road.

Rodeo moves to new evening time Sept. 21

Sunday afternoon time remains the same This year rodeo fans have two times to choose from for the URA/ MRCA Rodeo during the Jesse James Festival. On Saturday, Sept. 21, the rodeo moves to a new evening time at 7 p.m. at Jesse James Park Arena. “We’re excited to see how the community responds to moving the rodeo to Saturday evening instead of its usual time in the afternoon,” Julie Hedges of the festival committee said. “It should be cooler in the evening, and people can relax and enjoy the show.” On Sunday, Sept. 22, the rodeo will remain at its usual afternoon time of 2:30 p.m. At both shows, admission is $5 per person and free for ages 5 and younger. There will be a chicken scramble for kids and the popular Dusty and Rawhide Trick Horse & Roping Show. Cowpokes can go to www.jesse jamesfestival.com for details.

Kids, cast a line Children’s fishing contest Sept. 22 Children ages 12 and younger are invited to bring their fishing poles to the Jesse James Festival Kids’ Fishing Tournament. There is no cost to enter, and the worms are free — just bring an adult and a pole. The tournament will be 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at the Jesse James Park lake. Two classes will be available — 0 to 6 and 7 to 12. There will be trophies and prizes for the biggest fish overall and first, second and third place in each class. Every participant will receive a “goody bag,” and those who do not win a trophy will have their names put in a random drawing for prizes on site. Parents may help bait the hook and release the fish, but the child must reel in the catch. Other rules are pole and line only, one pole per person, and catch and release. Other forms of bait are permitted, but worms are provided free. For more information, contact Josh Tipton at 305-9671.
