Communication Studies Class to Offer First Training for the Community Boot Camp to Tackle Media Interviews the Right Way
STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Communication Studies organizational spokesperson seminar class is offering a spokesperson training on Monday, April 13. In the Operation Organizational Speaking training, participants will receive personalized feedback and practice in Tarleton’s state-of-the-art media convergence center. There will be three concurrent sessions held, where attendees can sign up for specific help with live interviews, crisis situations, social media, international communications, and ethical dilemmas. This free training will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in room 396 of the O.A. Grant Humanities Building on the Tarleton-Stephenville campus. The class is limiting it to around 24 attendees. Online registration is available at www.tinyurl.com/operationos. According to Assistant Professor Sarah Maben, “It’s a real-world application of what they are learning about spokespeople, and they are going to share this in a hands-on way with community leaders, area nonprofit executives, and volunteers and campus departments.” This is the first time that this class has been offered through the Department of Communication Studies and the first time they are offering training. The training is completely planned, promoted, and produced by the students of the class. Tarleton State’s Department of Communication Studies provides programs in journalism and broadcasting, public relations and event management, speech communications and teacher certification.
