Faith, Courage, and Cash: Ashley Kirkwood's Blueprint for Kingdom-Driven Success
LINDSEY WALKER
In the dynamic landscape of Christian entrepreneurship, few voices resonate with the power and authenticity of Ashley Kirkwood A beacon of faithdriven success, Ashley's journey from corporate law to empowering speakers and leaders is a testament to God's transformative power in the marketplace
Ashley Kirkwood isn't just another success story; she's a living example of what happens when faith meets tenacity in the business world As the founder of Speak Your Way to Cash®, Ashley has redefined what it means to be a Kingdom-minded entrepreneur in today's fastpaced, often secular business environment
Her path wasn't always clear After nearly failing out of undergrad and initially being rejected from every law school she applied to, Ashley's unwavering determination led her to not only gain admission but excel, eventually transferring to Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law one of the top ten law schools in the country
But God had bigger plans for Ashley than a traditional legal career Sensing a divine calling to impact lives on a grander scale, she took a leap of faith, leaving behind a $300k+ corporate job to start her own virtual law firm It was a move that many would consider risky, but for Ashley, it was an act of obedience to God's prompting
"Faith has been a huge influence on the vision and mission of Speak Your Way to Cash® " Ashley shares "I quickly realized that 80% of my audience identifies as Christian and their faith deeply impacts how they pursue their goals "
This realization led to a pivotal moment in Ashley's business journey "Through prayer, I realized I was holding back from fully sharing how much my faith in God informs the confidence I have in business " she explains "I started coaching clients not just on their strategies, but on mindset strategies related to their faith, helping them understand that God wants them to put in the effort and that success isn't a result of 'magic ' but rather a partnership between faith and work "
Ashley's unique approach to business coaching, deeply rooted in biblical principles has struck a chord with entrepreneurs and corporate leaders alike Her signature talks, "The Currency of Confidence" and "The L O V E Method of communication," have helped countless individuals overcome imposter syndrome and lead with authenticity
But for Ashley, success isn't just about personal achievement She's on a mission to diversify vendor lists across America by teaching diverse speakers, consultants, and experts how to land corporate speaking and consulting contracts It's a vision of Kingdom impact that extends far beyond her own success
When asked how faith-driven businesses can transform industries Ashley's response is powerful: "I believe faith-driven businesses have the potential to bring integrity, purpose, and a higher standard of excellence to industries When your business is guided by faith you operate with a deep sense of responsibility not just to your customers, but to God "
For those struggling to merge their faith with their business, Ashley offers this advice: "Start by being authentic about who you are and what you believe Don't shy away from letting your faith guide your decisions both big and small Start incorporating faith into your daily routines whether through prayer reflection or seeking divine guidance "
Ashley Kirkwood's story is more than just a tale of business success; it's a powerful testimony to what's possible when we align our professional pursuits with God's purposes In a world hungry for authentic, purposedriven leadership Ashley stands as a shining example of what it means to be a true Kingdom Changemaker
As we navigate the complex intersections of faith, business, and personal growth, voices like Ashley's remind us that with God, all things are possible even speaking your way to cash while illuminating the path for others
“Through prayer, I realized I was holding back from fully sharing how much my faith in God informs the confidence I have in business”
Prophetic Playlists: How Worship Music is Disrupting the Global Music Industry
CONTRIBUTOR
Takhia Gaither
Soloists, quartets, shade tree musicians with their traveling plug-up amps, choirs, crowd-gathering worship events, groups, bands, and more, oh my! These aren’t even all the turns that gospel music has taken over the years They’re just the ones that I’ve witnessed
Growing up I was a choir kid at a church that had and still has a phenomenal choir, and there’s always a particular sound that appeals to my ear I know now that with all the training rehearsing practicing and just singing for fun we did growing up, we learned how to usher in God’s presence
For many church services are a different scene now Gone are the days of the choir lining up, filing into the choir loft to lead the congregation in musical worship In many churches, there’s not even a choir loft anymore! I could ramble on and on about the differences and disruptions, but I wanted to hear the thoughts of those tasked to lead worship weekly
I was honored to interview Colleen Allen, Jeff Hinds, Melissa Knight-Taylor, and Erika Washington of the Kingdom Nation Church & Ministries Praise & Worship Team in Baltimore, MD
We remember the days of what we call “the old church ” Hearing songs by Mahalia Jackson, Walter Hawkins, and others We only heard church music on the non-church station for a few hours on Sunday mornings for their Sunday Inspiration programming
It was usually a 4-hour block from 6:00 am to 10:00 am, showcasing and highlighting well-known gospel artists However, at 10:01, it seemed radio stations would find the most ratchet song to play, announcing the clear end of the gospel music segment of the day, not to return again until the following Sunday
One of the significant shifts in radio programming was classic, well-known gospel artists partnering with R&B singers In 1990, The Winans debuted “A Friend” and “It’s Time,” which featured Aaron Hall and Teddy Riley, respectively, from the 90-s R&B group Guy. Many of us still know Teddy Riley’s part in “It’s Time ”
It was gospel with some rap mixed in It was new, exciting, and, as club-goers will tell you, had a nice dance beat Fast forward to now, it’s not uncommon to hear music from Maverick City, Canton Jones, or others played on secular stations as part of their regular programming
This creates an interesting dynamic and the space where our conversation takes off Everyone highlighted the seamless and nonchalant crossover in today’s music space. However, what is the outcome? What are the motives? Who wins? Is God still being glorified in all of this?
What is Worship Music & Has it Changed?
“Worship music is about loving on God and showing our appreciation for all that He’s done, doing, and going to do,” shares Melissa. “It should be authentic because we are offering it to God.”
Colleen agrees, “Worship music was created to invoke an emotion in the believer The artists wrote and sang songs of trials that ended with victories It was meant to be relatable and a reminder that God is the answer While the intent and goal of worship music has not changed, the believer has in many ways
Some are harder to reach and many are a lot younger and haven’t been exposed to the traditional worship sound This generation wants a tight beat and then they’ll consider transformation and change Making worship sound like hip hop sells, but you can’t sell Jesus, you have to usher Him in with stories of triumph, His goodness and mercy ”
“Yes, worship music has transformed over the past 5-10 years to become more mainstream and acceptable,” Erika continues “This is widely due to the rise of CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) and inspirational artists While it has broadened the spectrum of exposure of gospel/Christian music to the secular world, another question to ask is, ‘At what cost?’”
The ladies were in complete agreement that while the exposure appears to be a thing we would want to spread the message of Christ and His love, it is questionable whether that’s happening Worship music should prick the heart and turn one toward growing one ' s relationship with God The secular music industry, noticing the popularity of artists who made successful crossover music, wants to continue the trend because, for them, it’s not about the message; it’s about the profit
Countless artists have been found to engage in activities that do not glorify Christ, sending a mixed message, especially to young people and those new to the faith Colleen points out, “Beats, bells, and whistles are what sells, which means more people may be listening, but what are they hearing?”
“Now it is common to hear worship songs appearing in club mixes,” Melissa reflects Think Marvin Sapp’s “Never Would of Have Made It,” mixed with “Some Cut ” “It’s now seen as hypes and likes And your daily inspirational vitamin, but not a transformative experience ”
“What’s the point of playing these songs in that atmosphere?” Erika continues, “Yes, it’s lent itself to the opportunity to be heard by people around the world and in nations that otherwise may not have given it a thought by including samples, snippets, and features from secular artists, but in doing so, I feel it has also diminished the value and authenticity of true worship DJs bump Kirk Franklin, Lecrae, and even Shirley Ceasar in the club, but not with the intent of creating a space for worship It’s turned into a means to grow fans and wealth instead of growing followers of Christ ”
Let’s Talk about Musicianship
The 150th Psalm carries instructions for the minstrels of the house of the Lord “Praise Him with a blast of the ram ’ s horn; praise Him with the lyre and harp! Praise Him with the tambourine and dancing, praise Him with strings and flutes! Praise Him a class of cymbals ”
Jeff is the director of the Kingdom Nation Band He emphasizes musicianship, improving your craft, and honoring God with your gift. While he agreed with everything stated by the psalmists of the group, his standpoint as a musician brings a fresh perspective to the global impact of worship music.
“Historically,” Jeff began, “ as Melissa stated, most musicians back in the day started in church Even if they chose to play secular music, the common thread among many, as seen and heard in interviews, is that they started playing in church With this came a standard of professionalism, which meant no taking shortcuts
Musicians were expected to learn the songs, note for note, practice, be prepared I do not want to take anything away from newer artists or their training, but it seems now that’s not the full expectation in music
“DJs bump Kirk Franklin, Lecrae, and even Shirley Ceasar in the club, but not with the intent of creating a space for worship.”
As a musician, I can listen to most CCM songs during the week and play them on Sunday with little to no rehearsal The songs have touching messages, but the music is not challenging There is not much room for the creativity of the musician to expand ”
A few weeks before this interview, Bishop A Scott Rowson of Kingdom Nation reminded and encouraged the musicians and psalmists to embrace and use the prophetic nature of their gifts to prophecy through music They were admonished to use their instruments to set and change atmospheres Jeff says that while prophetic creativity isn’t always heard in music, artists such as Ricky Dilliard and Vincent Bohannon display this through their worship songs
However, while this creativity is not always found in Christian music, secular music has become inviting to musicians who can create new and different sounds
“With the decline of choirs, the traditional music we have been used to is not produced on the scale it used to be Today’s music is more about the message than the music (keys, chords, etc.), whereas our predecessors focused on word and feel Simply put, it is the message and the music
This is leading to a decline in certain musical traditions and styles. My mind was blown the day a church musician told me he’d never heard of Richard Smallwood! Can you believe that?! Our newer and younger musicians don’t know how to play hymns and songs we ’ ve been singing for years and generations, which we take to be songs everyone knows I love the musical direction Bishop Rowson has given us for Kingdom He breaks out in hymns; we have to keep up We have to respect the past to appreciate the future of music ”
In his conclusion, Jeff states, “Whether some may accept it or not, the Gospel industry has a profound effect on the Secular industry It is absolutely crucial for us to realize and be aware of who should lead whom. We need to be mindful that cues taken from the secular world do not change the direction and the outlook of what worship music and its role in the world ”
So Now What?
We could redo this interview with a different praise team and arrive at a different conclusion Yes, the music world has benefited from its embrace, if you will, of worship music We pray that those hearing the music in secular spaces will come to know the Lord Final words on how worship music is disrupting the global music industry:
Melissa - Worship music is in a lane of its own, or at least it should be We are offering it to God It should be authentic We pray that inspirational moments or regularly programmed worship songs entwined with secular music lead the hearer into an authentic worship experience that brings them to Christ
Jeff - This is a great topic to bring to light Back in the day, you were supposed to learn how to play all your keys, or you wouldn't get any gigs, but nowadays, everything is just made easy We need to respect the past and appreciate the future, not allow shortcuts and lack of preparation to change the outlook of the actual role of worship music in the world
Colleen - Worship music saves souls We need to get back to that. Yes, enjoy the unmatched beat, but also focus on the meaning In the words of Donald Lawrence, a song with a good beat and a message, “Let’s get back to Eden and live on top of the world!”
Erika - Worship music is disrupting the global music industry by aligning itself with the industry's mainstream and gaining exposure to areas, countries, and people who would not have likely engaged in traditional worship experiences However, the real question is how the global music industry has disrupted worship music Where’s the Relentless Effective Authentic Levitical, R E A L, Worship™?
In conclusion, the evolution of worship music leads those of us “who remember when” on a journey to find our way back to the music that dispels the pressing questions of today's authenticity and purpose in its uses As time forges on, it is essential to remember that true worship transcends trends and beats. It should invite genuine encounters with God.
The voices of those in ministry, like Colleen, Jeff, Melissa, and Erika, remind us that while music may shift, the core intention of glorifying God should remain at the forefront As we embrace contemporary styles, let’s not forget the original intent: to lead us into authentic worship experiences that transcend the moment of the sacred space and beyond The conversation around worship music is far from over and invites us all to reflect on our roles in this dynamic journey
Kingdom Nation Church & Ministries, Bishop A Scott Rowson, Sr (Pastor), is in Baltimore, MD Services are held weekly at 10:30 am and can be viewed on the church’s Facebook page and YouTube channel

How Monique and Rashad Davis of T86 Marketing Are Building with Kingdom Purpose
Monique and Rashad Davis are more than just business owners they’re a powerhouse couple with a mission that’s built on faith, purpose, and community Together, they lead T86 Marketing, a digital marketing and talent development agency that’s thriving not just because of their strategy but because of the way they infuse their business with God and Kingdom principles
T86 Marketing isn’t just about helping clients build digital communities; it’s about creating spaces where people truly feel seen, heard, and valued Monique and Rashad share how their faith has guided them in this journey, the lessons they’ve learned along the way, and what it means to build something meaningful
For Monique and Rashad, faith is the foundation of everything they do From day one, T86 Marketing has been a faith-driven journey for them Rashad recalls that stepping out as a fulltime entrepreneur in 2014 was a leap that required a lot of prayer and trust in God’s guidance
“Faith has played a huge role from the beginning,” Rashad explains “In 2014, I made the decision to become a full-time entrepreneur after much prayer and meditation Every step we ' ve taken, from launching the business to growing it, has been rooted in our faith Every move we ' ve made it’s because God guided us ”
The way Rashad tells it, the decision to leave behind the security of a regular paycheck and dive headfirst into entrepreneurship wasn’t one made lightly It was through prayer and deep reflection that he felt the call to launch T86 Marketing and put his full energy into building something that was not just about business but about purpose
Monique echoes that sentiment “We are Christians who happen to be entrepreneurs not the other way around Faith is in everything we do, whether we ’ re making decisions on how to grow the business or just navigating the everyday challenges of being entrepreneurs It’s who we are ”
That grounding in faith has helped them weather the ups and downs of entrepreneurship with resilience and grace Like any business, T86 Marketing has had its share of challenges One of the biggest hurdles they’ve faced is managing cash flow According to Rashad, last year was their biggest year in terms of revenue, but it came with a hard lesson in financial management
As entrepreneurs we have to focus on cash flow once revenue is generated Are you allocating the right percentages into your business? Is your budget sustainable ” Rashad says “By the end of the year, everything crumbled Through prayer and a client interaction, God led me to a book called Profit First, and it changed the way we handle our finances It’s not just about making money it’s about being strategic with it making sure you allocate it wisely ”
As Kingdom Business owners, we must do our due diligence and consistently plan, budget and properly manage our money Even when things are going well on paper there’s always room to grow and learn, especially when it comes to stewardship of resources
Monique goes on to say that challenges can sometimes be a sign from God that it s time to pivot We get stuck in familiar patterns, but God will let us know when it’s time to change things up Being able to listen and shift has been key for us Sometimes [as believers], we ’ re doing the same thing over and over, and God is telling us to pivot, but we ’ re so caught up in what’s familiar that we don’t hear Him ”
This ability to pivot when necessary and trust in God’s timing has been a crucial part of their success They’re open to change, even when it s uncomfortable, knowing that God’s plan is always bigger than their own
For Monique and Rashad, community and collaboration have also been essential elements of their growth Inspired by a vision from God, they developed a partnership program that allows digital coaches and community owners to introduce their audience to T86’s services In return, they earn revenue for every successful referral, creating a mutually beneficial opportunity for growth and impact They’ve seen incredible success with this new model and understand that there is power in numbers
Collaboration has been everything, Monique says We ve grown so much through partnerships, and when it comes to building digital communities for our clients it’s about listening to what God is leading us to do We’re not just building for engagement; we ’ re building spaces where people feel connected, where they belong ”
This focus on community sets T86 Marketing apart For them, it’s not just about building brands it’s about creating meaningful spaces where people can connect and grow It s this focus on relationships and people that makes their approach to digital marketing so effective Running a business as a couple can be tricky, but Monique and Rashad have found a way to balance work, family, and faith They’ve learned that setting boundaries is essential to maintaining that balance
“We’ve grown so much through partnerships and when it comes to building digital communities for our clients, it’s about listening to what God is leading us to do ”
Rashad believes in setting clear limits to protect family time and ensure that work doesn’t overtake their personal lives “Keeping God first is the foundation of our relationship,” Rashad explains “We pray before meetings, we fast, and we keep our business covered in prayer But I also set really clear boundaries Business doesn’t seep into family time, and while there are seasons where we have to work longer hours, I’m very intentional about protecting our family time ”
This intentional approach has helped them maintain balance, even during the busiest seasons It’s a reminder that no matter how demanding work gets, there’s always space for family and faith. For Rashad, this is non-negotiable work can never come at the cost of their personal lives
Monique shares that she used to be a workaholic, always feeling the need to push herself to the limit But over time, she’s learned the importance of balance “I’m more spontaneous than Rashad, but I’ve learned to stop and save tasks for tomorrow Having boundaries has been key for us It helps us keep both our marriage and our business thriving ”
Their openness about the challenges of running a business while maintaining their faith and personal lives is refreshing Monique and Rashad don’t just talk about balance they live it
When asked what advice they’d give to entrepreneurs who are feeling discouraged or struggling in their journey, Rashad and Monique had plenty of wisdom to share
“Expect adversity it’s going to happen,” Rashad says “The Bible says life is full of challenges, so you have to be prepared to fight for the vision God gave you Stay resilient, and keep telling your story In marketing, it’s about how many touches you can make before someone converts Everything you launch make it a big deal, because it is ”
Rashad’s advice is a reminder that success doesn’t happen overnight It takes consistency and perseverance Every step counts, and showing up every day for the vision God gave you is key to making it happen Monique adds, “Remember your ‘why ’ You’re a solution to someone ’ s problem Stay connected to God and don’t be afraid of pivots He’ll shift things when it’s time Just keep serving and everything else will follow ”
Monique’s words serve as a reminder that purpose is at the heart of every successful business For her and Rashad, their purpose is clear: to serve others and build something meaningful
Together, Monique and Rashad Davis have built T86 Marketing on a foundation of faith, community, and purpose Their journey is a beautiful example of what can happen when you lead with heart and stay true to your values At the end of the day, it’s not just about business it’s about people, relationships, and making a lasting impact With God guiding every step, they’ve created not just a business but a legacy of service, resilience, and growth And for them, that’s what it’s all about

For Christian entrepreneurs and Kingdom business owners, navigating the complexities of building a business while honoring God can feel overwhelming Success demands sacrifice, grit, and a steadfast commitment to excellence But how does one ensure that their pursuit of success aligns with their faith in Jesus? How can one serve others, scale their vision, and remain faithful to God’s calling while caring for themselves in the process?
In an era where hustle culture reigns supreme and women are often lauded for their ability to juggle countless roles, there is one voice that rises above the noise to offer a refreshing and much-needed perspective on self-care: Dr Cindy Trimm As a globally recognized empowerment leader, best-selling author, and sought-after speaker, Dr Trimm equips women with the tools to navigate their spiritual and professional lives with purpose, discipline, and a profound sense of personal empowerment
Her presence is magnetic, and her words immediately shift the atmosphere with wisdom that blends faith and practicality Known for her dynamic speaking engagements and transformative leadership teachings, she sat down with The Kingdom Business Network (KBN) to share her insights on self-care and mindset mastery two vital components not only to survive but to thrive as women in today’s world
At the heart of her message is a belief that self-care is not indulgence it is an act of stewardship Dr Trimm explains that many women, particularly those called to lead, have been conditioned to prioritize the needs of others before themselves “We’ve been trained to make everyone else a priority and ourselves an option,” she says, with a calm but firm conviction Her insight pierces through the cultural expectations that surround women in leadership, as she shares that true self-care is far from a luxury it is a spiritual necessity
This concept of self-care, as Dr Trimm lays it out, requires intentionality It’s not about finding time when it’s convenient, but about carving out sacred spaces for what she calls “ me moments ” These are times of reconnection with faith, moments to pause, reflect, and align with God’s vision for one ' s life As Dr Trimm sees it, caring for oneself is deeply intertwined with understanding one ’ s identity in Christ “You cannot care for a self you don’t know,” she states, reminding us that self-care is rooted in a deep, spiritual understanding of who we are in God’s eyes
The more Dr Trimm speaks, the more it becomes evident that this isn’t a simple invitation to take a day off or indulge in momentary pleasures She redefines self-care as a form of stewardship, where taking care of one ’ s mind, body, and spirit is not only a way to honor God but a fundamental part of living a purposeful life. “Self is the sanctuary of God,” she adds, a powerful reminder that in caring for ourselves, we are tending to the space where God dwells within us
But Dr Trimm doesn’t stop there For her, self-care is only the beginning The true work comes in the form of selfmastery She sees the two as inseparable “Self-care is about self-mastery,” she says And this is where her words challenge even the most seasoned leaders to go deeper It’s not just about relaxation or physical maintenance selfcare, in Dr Trimm’s philosophy, is about discipline, refinement, and the ability to master one ’ s gifts and purpose
explains that God has already placed purpose inside each of us woven into our DNA But it is up to us to cultivate and refine that purpose through intentional practice
“Take yourself seriously enough to refine your gifts ” she urges, encouraging business owners to see the connection between their personal growth and their ability to scale their businesses In other words, self-mastery is not just a personal journey it directly impacts how one leads how one grows and how one influences others
outdated versions of themselves “Every birthday is a death date, she says with profound wisdom, explaining that each year requires the release of the old self to make room for the new It’s an invitation to evolve to step into new versions of ourselves, and to see each phase of life as an opportunity for growth
Dr Trimm’s reflections on personal evolution tie seamlessly into her belief in the importance of mentorship She views mentorship as a lifelong journey one that is crucial for personal and spiritual development “Mentorship is for a lifetime,” she explains, differentiating it from coaching, which often has a set duration A mentor, in her view, is someone who can guide you through the ongoing process of self-mastery, offering wisdom, encouragement, and accountability For women serious about stepping into their purpose finding the right mentor can be transformative
As the conversation winds down, it’s impossible not to feel inspired by the depth of Dr Trimm’s wisdom Her approach to self-care is not just practical it’s spiritual It challenges us to redefine what it means to care for ourselves, reminding us that in doing so, we honor the Creator who made us
Dr Cindy Trimm’s teachings are deeply rooted in faith, and her desire to see women rise into the fullness of their God-given potential is palpable Her message goes beyond surface-level selfcare routines, offering instead a profound understanding of how selfmastery mindset renewal gratitude and mentorship can cultivate lives of purpose and intentionality
“You are called to more, but you must first care for the vessel that God has created,” Dr Trimm reminds us Her words resound deeply with those who long to lead lives that not only honor their businesses but reflect the Kingdom of God in all they do
By redefining self-care as a spiritual practice, Dr Trimm offers a path forward one where women step boldly into their purpose, mastering their minds and spirits to become vessels of transformation in their businesses, communities, and the world
Join Dr Trimm Atlanta, GA, for her End Your Year Strong Conference on December 6-7 This event is designed to provide a space for reflection renewal and recalibration as attendees prepare to embrace new opportunities in the coming year With a focus on finishing the year strong and entering 2025 with clarity and purpose the conference promises to offer invaluable insights, faith-filled mentorship and divine inspiration For more information, visit End Your Year Strong

For her, whether she’s delivering a sermon or leading worship, the objective remains the same: pointing people back to the cross She passionately shares that the essence of her calling is to ensure that people know God loves them, no matter how the message is delivered through song or word This dual mission gives her a unique perspective on how to reach people in their spiritual journeys
Her approach to worship is one grounded in prayer, always seeking God’s direction for what the moment requires “We often ask God to meet us where we are, but sometimes we need to go to where He is,” she reflects This deep connection between her faith and her craft is evident in how she collaborates with others in ministry, ensuring that worship ties seamlessly into the overall message being preached Her thoughtfulness in aligning the musical worship experience with the sermon is part of what makes her leadership so impactful.
But leading a congregation in today’s world has changed significantly from years past, and Pastor Chisolm is keenly aware of this shift She recalls growing up in a time when everything was tough communication was rough, and life’s lessons were often hard-won Now, as she pastors younger generations, she finds herself needing to approach them with more care, patience, and understanding. “Everything is offensive now, ” she observes, explaining how today’s sensitivities require a different kind of leadership one that listens more, prays more, and adapts more.
Her compassion extends beyond just understanding the unique challenges younger generations face She recognizes that leaders today must stay informed, even if that means Googling something a congregation member is struggling with just to understand it better It’s this combination of humility and empathy that defines her pastoral care. Pastor Chisolm is committed to growing alongside her congregation, learning as much from them as they do from her.
In the world of gospel music, Pastor Chisolm is equally discerning about her role While she is deeply driven by the Holy Spirit in her creative process, she is realistic about her audience She knows that not everyone will resonate with her music, especially younger listeners, and she’s okay with that. Her niche, as she puts it, is the 25 to 50 age range. It’s where her music seems to make the most impact, and while she would love for younger generations to connect with her songs, she understands that her ministry may reach them in other ways
When asked how her faith has guided her through the challenges of balancing ministry, music, motherhood, and community responsibilities, her answer is heartfelt and honest The past few months, she admits, have been particularly tough, and it is only her faith that has kept her grounded. She speaks candidly about how her relationship with God has carried her through moments when she felt like she was on the edge
“If I sat in the issues that I was going through, I’d probably be pulling my hair out one lock at a time,” she says with a laugh, though there’s an undeniable truth behind her words Her faith and her history with God remind her that, even in the toughest moments, He has always come through.
Pastor Chisolm also speaks to the power of going back to where you first heard God. Like Elijah returning to Mount Sinai, she emphasizes the importance of reconnecting with the foundational moments in your spiritual journey, especially when life feels overwhelming She encourages others to reflect on their own history with God, knowing that those experiences are often what sustain you in the present
As the conversation turns to words of encouragement, Pastor Chisolm offers practical advice for those who may be feeling stuck or overwhelmed First, she urges people to return to where they first heard God and to reflect on how their relationship with Him has changed Secondly, she reminds us that as long as we are alive, there is hope no matter what we are going through. Finally, she emphasizes the importance of finding balance and joy, whether through listening to music, journaling, or just creating space to hear God more clearly
In a world that is constantly changing, Pastor Marica Chisolm’s steadfast faith, compassion, and leadership provide a beacon of hope Her journey as a pastor and gospel artist continues to inspire those around her, reminding us all of the importance of faith, perseverance, and the power of God’s love in every aspect of life

The Politics of Prayer: How Faith Leaders Are Shaping 2024 Election Narratives
The pulpit in a church on Sunday morning, a midweek prayer meeting, the typical social media video of a trusted voice in the faith community, and most recently both the Republican National Convention and Democratic National Convention stage, all serve as the perfect platform to share and shape the 2024 election narrative For as long as I can remember, politics have been a part of the faith arena Whenever it was time to vote, various political leaders and candidates would visit every church or religious based group meeting that would open their doors and allow them to plead their case.
Faith leaders would take advantage of the opportunity to have these perceived prestigious members of the community visit and speak to their body of influence We would wear our Sunday’s best whenever such events were scheduled to occur and what a show it would be The landscape looks a bit different now that faith leaders are doing much of the communicating, without shame, regarding their candidate of choice I cannot recall an election year with such heightened intensity and visibility from the faith community as this one
Theresa Shawn McIntosh
It is common to allow a politician to represent themselves and share their hopeful agendas with constituents However, when an influencer from the faith community declared allegiance to one of the world’s most controversial political figures live and in living color, the world took note Pastor Lorenzo Sewell, Senior Pastor of the 180 Church in Detroit Michigan galvanized the crowd at the Republican National Convention through his spirited address to attendees in the building and those watching on live stream all around the world
Never in a million years would I have imagined that a Pastor would rally the crowd in such a way regarding a political candidate There are numerous video clips of Pastor Sewell’s address posted on the internet on PBS com to Newsweek Anyone watching, whether friend or foe, was standing at attention as this young Black minister from the inner city of Detroit rendered a boisterous word on the party’s controversial nominee, endeavoring to shape the perspective of American voters
Many leaders of the faith community have leveraged their influence in support of one candidate or another Another notable figure of faith is none-other than Reverend Franklin Graham, son of the late Evangelist Billy Graham He, like Sewell, has publicly extended his support towards Donald Trump When you think about the massive following that encompasses the Graham dynasty, his endorsement has the potential to affect the decision of thousands of voters He is a trusted voice in the faith community on his own merit along with the respect that lingers from the legacy of the voice of his father
Reverend Amos Brown, the 83-year-old Baptist pastor that prayed during the 2024 Democratic National Convention, has rallied his support around Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris He is a longtime friend and proclaimed personal pastor of the Vice-President Brown is also a civil rights activist who is said to have served alongside cultural catalysts such as Medgar Evers and Martin Luther King, Jr
His voice is one that rises above many While respected, Brown has been known to make accusatory statements regarding the United States of America His comments after the terrorists’ attacks on 9/11 raised suspicion that America may have played a role in causing the horrendous acts towards humanity on that day These days, he is using his platform to encourage African American voters to support the democratic agenda without question aiming to secure the Presidency for Kamala Harris
It is easy to see how the 2024 election narrative can be swayed by pastors or leaders in the faith community These are people many of us look up to and respect as servants of God Their voices are supposed to echo the very heartbeat of what God is trying to say to His people Because their voices are esteemed high many do not challenge the messages these faith leaders convey about the candidate they are endorsing
We are expected to listen to the voice of a preacher and vote the way the preacher says to vote In the realm of politics the listener is sometimes hearing the opinion of man from the pulpit versus what thus sayeth the Lord Stating the facts about the process and those involved in the process, sharing scripture to support the facts, and allowing the narrative to take a shape of its own is a lot to ask for during this election season
The First Amendment in the Constitution speaks to the separation of church and state However, with notable endorsements from the faith community, it is challenging to see the line of demarcation in the 2024 Election narrative One would think that they are now combined when surveying the weight of the voices that faith leaders carry regarding the election
Praying for the candidates is necessary They need prayer as they are facing a level of scrutiny and ridicule that would be cumbersome for the average citizen It takes courage to take on such a feat as running for public office Any level of support and prayer they can get from their respective faith leaders is surely appreciated
Not only is this favored by the candidates, but it is also the hope of many constituents that prayer will guide the hearts and decisions of those elected to serve this country It is when prayer turns into persuasion that the narrative becomes questionable
As we approach the 2024 election, it's crucial for voters to discern between spiritual guidance and political persuasion While faith leaders play a significant role in shaping our moral compass the ultimate decision at the ballot box rests with each individual As Kingdom-minded citizens we are called to pray for wisdom seek truth beyond partisan rhetoric and vote according to our conscience guided by both faith and reason During the upcoming election may we remember that our highest allegiance is not to any earthly candidate or party but to the eternal principles of God's Kingdom
The Kingdom Executive: Cultivating Leadership Excellence with Divine Purpose
BIANCA MODO
The boardroom falls silent as you take your seat at the head of the table Eyes fixed on you, waiting for direction, for vision, for leadership In this moment, you ' re not just a CEO a manager or an entrepreneur - you ' re a steward of divine purpose in the marketplace The weight of this calling can be overwhelming, yet exhilarating How do we, as Kingdom-minded professionals, navigate the complex terrain of executive leadership while remaining true to our heavenly mandate?
Gone are the days when we could compartmentalize our faith and our professional lives Today's marketplace demands leaders who can seamlessly integrate spiritual wisdom with business acumen It calls for executives who can drive profit margins while prophetically shaping company culture But how do we cultivate this unique blend of heavenly perspective and earthly effectiveness?
This isn't about slapping a Christian label on secular leadership principles It's about fundamentally reimagining what it means to lead in a world desperately in need of Kingdom values It's about forging a path that honors God while delivering excellence in the corporate arena So, let's embark on this journey together, exploring how we can develop executive leadership skills that not only meet the demands of today's business world but also advance God's purposes in the marketplace
At the core of developing executive leadership lies a fundamental question: Who is the leader in you? This isn't just about identifying respected leadership qualities; it's about unearthing the unique gifts God has bestowed upon you As we read in 1 Peter 4:10 "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms " Your leadership voice is not just authentic; it's divinely ordained
Consider Moses, a man who initially doubted his ability to lead
Yet, through his journey, he developed a leadership style that combined humility with assertiveness wisdom with action Like Moses, we must pursue our own leadership style, one that aligns with both our personality and our spiritual convictions This pursuit involves continuous self-reflection and a willingness to grow, always anchored in prayer and scriptural guidance
Projecting a positive, trusted professional image goes beyond mere appearance It's about embodying integrity as we ' re reminded in Proverbs 11:3, "The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity " In the corporate world this integrity becomes your most powerful tool for building trust and influence
Speaking of influence, as Kingdom executives, we must recognize that our sources of power come not just from our position or expertise but from our connection to the ultimate source of power - God Himself This understanding should shape how we navigate organizational politics and expand our networks We're called to be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves (Matthew 10:16), engaging in workplace dynamics with wisdom and purity of intent
Motivating others is perhaps one of the most crucial aspects of leadership Here, we can take inspiration from Jesus, the ultimate servant leader His approach was never to demoralize but to uplift, challenge, and transform As we lead our teams, we must strive to see the potential in each individual, much as Christ sees the potential in each of us
Developing your leadership style is a journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth It involves understanding different leadership styles and assessing which aligns best with your God-given strengths Remember, your style should be a reflection of your values, which in turn should be rooted in biblical principles
Communication is the lifeblood of leadership Effective leaders must not only master various communication patterns but also understand the types of subjects that inspire and guide their teams In this, we can look to the Apostle Paul, whose letters demonstrate an incredible ability to address complex issues with clarity, compassion, and conviction
Vision, mission, and value statements are more than corporate jargon; they're the modern-day equivalent of Joshua's declaration: "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" (Joshua 24:15) These statements, when genuinely embraced and followed, provide a North Star for your organization, aligning every action with your core purpose
Projecting executive presence – that elusive quality that marks true leaders – is about more than charisma It's about embodying the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and selfcontrol (Galatians 5:22-23) These qualities, when consistently displayed, create an aura of authentic leadership that inspires trust and followership
As you embark on this journey of leadership development, remember that your ultimate aim is not just organizational success, but Kingdom impact Your role as a leader is a sacred calling, an opportunity to be salt and light in the corporate world By grounding your leadership in biblical principles, continuously developing your skills, and remaining open to the Holy Spirit's guidance, you can become the kind of leader who not only drives business success but also advances God's purposes in the marketplace
In conclusion, developing executive leadership is a holistic process that engages your mind, refines your skills, and most importantly, transforms your heart. As you grow in your leadership capacity, may you always remember the words of Jesus: "Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant" (Matthew 20:26)
This is the paradox of Kingdom leadership – in serving, we lead, and in leading, we serve Embrace this calling, and watch as God uses your leadership to illuminate the corporate world with His love, wisdom, and purpose

The fourth quarter will be a season of innovation, insights, and intelligence, where God is releasing new innovative ideas He's giving you new insight and wisdom, and he's giving you the intelligence, aka the strategy, to be able to execute The fourth quarter is also a brief time of Jubilee, as many have been struggling for quite some time, and you ' re getting ready to see the tide shifting You're getting ready to see how it all made sense. You're getting ready to see clearly what God was doing with you in your business, in your purpose, in your ministry You're getting ready to understand that it was necessary
You'll understand why you had to go through the long-suffering You'll understand why you had to break off some of those relationships You'll understand why God had to shift you violently the way he did for many of you And so in the fourth quarter, as God gives intelligence, it will thrust you into the next few years You're getting ready to have the insight needed to operate from a position of authority to operate from a position of prosperity
As you step into the intelligence, innovation, and insight, you will be rewarded well on Earth for it There will come new levels of influence that will pass over to you because you will have the answers For many of you, God is positioning you to be a leader, to be the leader of leaders, to be the go-to person You've overcome so much You've gone through so much. You are now getting ready to be considered a source of wisdom For the fourth quarter, as God begins to continue with the changing of the guards and the shift of influence, you'll have to ensure that you do not allow imposter syndrome to keep you from stepping into your rightful place of leadership
The enemy would try to come and make you feel as though you are not worthy, as though you are not chosen, as though you are not qualified Even if those things may be true, the minute that God puts his stamp of approval on you, you are qualified Do what you need to do to ensure you have the confidence and the courage to operate in the way God is positioning you for the fourth quarter
Some of you have struggled through so many different things, and it's almost like you don't believe that the shift, the transfer, is happening for you The Lord says, This is not the season for you to operate from a position of fear, but from a position of victory You will need to obtain a victory mindset I don't care what you ' ve gone through I don't care what has happened to you in the past You are going to need to step into your rightful place from a posture of victory Trust that you will have what you need for the assignment when you need it As things are changing and shifting and influence is shifting, and you may feel like you do not have the schooling, you may feel like you don't have the education, you may feel like you don't have the backing, God's going to tell you to do some things, and you ' re going to be like, Who's going to come? Who's going to show up?
God says I'm sending the people I can make your name great in a moment I can shift the power, and I'm looking for people so because many of you have kept your heart and your mouth and your mind clean, you ' ve operated from a posture of repentance The Lord says, I can use you

Looking to the future, Kenya is excited about expanding her reach through mindset-shifting techniques and leveraging technology "We're working on creating a series of online courses and webinars," she reveals "The goal is to duplicate our principles and impact more lives, regardless of geographical limitations "
This digital expansion aligns with Kenya's vision of showcasing Kingdom leadership in the marketplace on a global scale "We're not just building a business or a ministry," she explains "We're creating a movement that demonstrates how faith and excellence can coexist in the business world "
Kenya is particularly enthusiastic about the potential of social media and digital platforms to reach younger generations "We need to speak the language of the next generation," she emphasizes "That means being present where they are and addressing the unique financial challenges they face in today's economy "
ACTIVATE: A PLATFORM FOR TRANSFORMATION
As our conversation draws to a close, Kenya's passion for the upcoming Activate conference is palpable She's preparing a session that promises to be transformative, focusing on self-forgiveness, surrender, and acceptance.
