Deep Urbanism, is a double entendre, one referring to the utilization algorithms for their generative potential for creating a novel architectural and urban form, the other referencing a contemporary mode of “deep state” where the data of individuals are constantly collected, archived, manipulated and weaponized. Computer vision systems of control to be deployed. We have used the current form of computer vision systems and the databases they create as our arsenal to understand how machines see our world, and critically utilize machine learning to decipher how they interpret what they see. Our interpretation for NYC being underwater by 2050 led us to design Echochamber cities on the bases of social media algorithms. Using Styletransfer we generated a new landscape upon which the echo chambers are designed. The three echo-chambers are Hipster, Golf, and the Stock Market. The Stock Market echo-chamber is a VR based echo chamber.

‘Predicting Climate Change and the Future Environment using Machine Learning’


Governed by algorithms that amplify and exacerbate specific point of views, social media creates “echochambers” where beliefs and choices of the participants are reinforced by repetition inside a closed value system. Determined by demographics, socioeconomic status and political orientation, these echo chambers create monocultural virtual environments. What if these virtual echo chambers in social media also started to form in the physical urban environment? “Echochamber City” speculates on a post-anthropogenic scenario where New York City, due to dramatic sea level rise, is no longer habitable in its current form and the inhabitants are forced into physical, climate controlled “echo chambers” that are configured as isolated, self sufficient urban enclaves.

We used drone footage of NYC from Google Earth Studio as the training data set for DCGAN to generate fake footage, generated by the misreadings and errors as seen by the GAN. This fake footage is used to generate a physical block model evaluating based on its architectural potential. We used an additional algorithm “Style Transfer” which is a low-level GAN to add more design elements on the massing. We used visual samples of contemporary artists to add a layer of complexity for facade generation, ornamentation, and another architectural expression.

‘Actuated Model by using Arduino, it reacts to Human Proximity’

We derived the form by adding acetone over a foam cube and used different techniques to further develop the model. A series of operations were done over the cube using Rhino and Maya. Operations like split, rotate, split, slice, boolean, etc were used to derive a final result. A layer of localization was added over the generated mass. As a second phase we used Arduino to actuate the model using human interactions. According to human proximity the cube will expand and contract and the localizations inflates.

The aim of this competition is to design a ‘Film City Tower’ in Bombay and explore the possibility of a new vertical typology for a film city.The project resolves to put Bombay and Bollywood on the global map through a futuristic and contemporary landmark for the city. The competiton hopes to achieve the following: - Propose a new holistic and integrated vision to inject a new sense of purpose in a Film City. - Translation and appropriation of the components of a Film City in an innovative vertical tower typology. - Creation of a contemporary icon for Bollywood and the city of Bombay. - Initiation and adaptation of a responsible and sustainable architecture discourse as an approach to design. - Enliven and transform the social and community fabric within and around the Film city tower. CONCEPT To produce a comprehensive film, the idea is generated in the commercial world which is refined by the film industry and appreciated or criticised by the general public. Our structure continuously captures the scenic beauty of the city.

Our Structure, STARDUST TRINITY, considers all the aforementioned aspects in mind and stands high in the sky with a trilogy, each for a different purpose. The commercial tower contains housing units for workers, film academy, production office, hotel for film stars as well as public; along with sustainable techniques to make building more energy sufficient. The public tower comprises recreational facilities, restaurants, etc. for public use. And the film tower consists of various sets of movies such as forest, snow world, deserts, suburbs, etc. which when not in use by the crew members, can be allotted as recreational facilities for public. In addition, it also consists of flexible sets, music studios, recording rooms, workshop spaces which otherwise are located at varied areas in a city. Film crew members play supporting role during film making to make it convenient we have also provided flying crew for connectivity without any disturbance.

‘D’ - ARCHITECTURE Deteriorated Dilapidated Decayed Destructured Demolition Dismantling Deconstruction (ism) Due to many external aspects natural or human caused, a structure or a place starts to deteriorate, or decay or gets destructed. So question stays, what happens to this structures/place or what can be done to this place? As it always has some events or memories attached to it! So the thesis aims at two things : 1) to pre design a place or structure keeping in mind that the structure will get decayed or deteriorated after certain life span and after its life gets over it represents a beautiful ruin representing the past events. 2) to look at such structures which are already gone through this process and what can be placed as an insert that lets the present continue while conserving the past! The thesis was based on different theories : 1) INEVITABLE ARCHITECTURE - Lebbeus Woods. 2) FAILED ARCHITECTURE - Mark Minkjan. 3) RUINS DECAY - Bradley Garrett. 4) RUIN VALUE - John Ruskin. 5) THE THEORY OF RUIN VALUE - Albert Speer

This project take a different design process unlike other concept or form finding processes. This process determines a strong set of parameters for each of the program namely Park, Parking and Housing. And each of the programs are explored through the process of diagraming. The basic process that we went through was as follows: 1) Depth of Research: What are the most important features? Identification of critical parameters within each program’s various components. 2) Ingenuity of Analysis: What larger logic is at play? Diagram of an underlying logic within each program based on their interest/understanding of it. 3) Programmatic Understanding: How are the different components related? Or can they be? Relationships / connections / inter-dependencies between the various components of each program based on their analysis.

This project was a unique one that I have worked on during my Internship. The project was a completely concept driven, where the basic concept was brought up by the Client himself. The Client requirements were : 1. 6-10 Villas with Goan feel 2. 3BHK villas with pool 3. Communal Parking 4. Landscape Design 5. Interior Design To fullfill the Client requirement of Goan feel to the villas, we did a brief research on how the Traditional Goan House functions, it’s layout, it’s structure and most important the elements that come together to form the Traditional Goan House.

An interesting project where I had a chance to lead a small team of 2 under the supervision of Studio Leads. It was a redesigning project where the client wanted to remodel the existing old Goan houses into Primary and Pre-Primary schools. The project started as per the discussions with the clients, but my Idea of considering the actual users (Kids) as the clients and taking there pointers as priority was taken ahead and the schools were designed. The project cost was redused by using all the locally available materials like tree trunk, sand, mud etc.

It proved to be one of the best experience as I spent a week with the kids noting down their requirements, how they used the space, and how can we design it to be more open and one with the nature.

Design Studio - Sem 05 Project - Visitors Centre Site

Access (from roof) McLeod Ganj is a suburb of Dharamsala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Tibetans who came migrating from the north eastern borders and settled in this place. Dalai Lama built a buddhist monestry and temple, which led to increase in tourism. Here we can see tibetian culture, art and tradition. The local market consists of hand made products like clothing, wood crafts, tibetan products, local food stalls, cafe, tea stalls, etc. The place is always crowed with locals, tourists, and the people who come there to serve the buddhist monks, or to learn the culture. INFO-DESK In this project I have designed a visitors center for the tourists at the enterance Main Square. It provides a relaxation space for the tourists after a long journyey to this place. Spaces to temporarily keep the luggage, waiting lounges, local workshops and museums, recreational spaces, restaurants, etc. It acts as the perfect entry to a mountain top location.
