2.5m x 2.5m x 2.5m Dialogue box, incorporates conceptually the past historical and political issues that have disconnected the people of South Africa


The Conservation Centre will house data about the natural & cultural history in an integral landscape or courtyard setting but not as a museum, rather as a research centre which empowers the local community with a multimedia library, to integrate the farming subsistence sensitively with its natural context. It uses contemporary technology to become one with the landscape & harnessnatural energy, resources & climate. Together with the incorporation of landscape and senory expriences the centre encourages users to experience surroundings to its fullest potential.


This highly sensitive site unlocks enormous future potential by providing student accommodation for UJ & Wits, skills training, trade & job opportunities for the local community. As a Catalyst in this highly contested scenario, a strip development along the stretched out site on Main Road. Urban design is encouraged enormously to achieve a gateway to currently very segregated areas. The student housing stimulates social activities with activation of the ground floor and views to sporting events.
