Daily, hundreds of students actively commit themselves to volunteer making CBS a very unique university. Some of the biggest and coolest events at CBS are entirely planned, developed and executed by voluntary, active students. CBS Case Competition, the yearly University Election, wine tastings, movie showings, guest-speaker events and sustainability workshops are just a few of a great range of student driven activities. We all have

come here to CBS for one main reason: to study. Even though this might seem like quite a lot in itself already, we highly recommend all students to engage in volunteer activities. Most of the volunteer jobs at CBS are very flexible and can easily be combined with an already busy student calendar and one thing we can say for certain is that voluntary work is one of the best investments you will ever make in your life!

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE The activities and projects that you will engage in are guaranteed to give you a lot of practical experience. This is invaluable for your theoretical and academic development as a student. Having experience in tasks such as marketing, project leadership, fundraising, event planning etc. will give you extremely valuable competencies for the future. As a wise man once said: For the things we have to learn before we can do them we learn by doing them.

Being a volunteer you will meet a lot of amazing people. It will be people who have a lot to give and who will be likely to help you with anything from matters regarding your student life, future career plans and other issues you may encounter. You will develop great new friendships and your network will increase, as you become part of the vibrant study environment at CBS.

Committing to volunteer work tells a lot about your character, your professionality and your ambition to learn and develop. It will therefore give you an edge compared to your peers when applying for jobs, as employers are eager to work with a person who puts in the extra engagement. 7

CBS Students is YOUR student union WHAT DOES THAT MEAN TO YOU? The vision of CBS Students is to make CBS the best place for us - the students, both academically and socially. Everyday a lot of volunteers spend time getting CBS one step closer to this vision, which is why we are proud to tell that we are for the students by the students. CBS Students is engaged in almost every aspect of CBS. Our presidency meets regularly with the CBS president and management, our board members help developing CBS’ strategy and our study board members make sure you get the education you wish for! Only to mention a few examples. All our work is student political, but in many more aspects than you might think of first.

CBS Students works on establishing students’ right for feedback from professors, we organize and upgrade the skills of the elected students and we make campaigns to highlight the cutbacks in education. Moreover, CBS Students is the facilitator and helping hand of all student organizations in this booklet. We continuously work to ensure the best conditions for all student driven initiatives and activities including the student organizations. The annual Student Society Day, where you can meet and talk to every one of them, takes place at Solbjerg Plads 21st of September 2017 and is arranged by CBS Students volunteers.

As a true representative of a business school’s students, CBS Students runs several companies and thereby ensures to facilitate the university in the interest of the students. Hereby to mention our canteen Spisestuerne, our café and bar Café Nexus, our own clothing line CBS Collection and the Student Print.

If you want to learn more or wish to become a part of our organisation, get in touch! Come by our office at Solbjerg Plads or write us an email at Read more about us on our webpage or find us on Facebook or Instagram.

You can see that the activities of our organization cover a broad field. CBS Students and the network will give you rich opportunities for life time experience and a huge network across the different study programmes.

GETMONEY... ...FOR YOUR IDEA THE ACTIVITY POOL CBS Students encourages and supports students to run activities because it adds value for CBS, the study environment and the students. For this reason we have managed to let CBS allocate an amount of 1.5 mio DKK to student driven activities. The comitee deciding which activities to support consists of students only. So if you have a great idea, initiative or activity that will make CBS an even better place to be a part of, you should hurry up and apply for the CBS Students Activity Pool! We encourage you to be creative and think big – let us show what a great study environment can look like! Swing by the CBS Students office at Solbjerg Plads or read more at

SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF The extraordinary CBS study life and environment is far too often taken for granted or misunderstood. From genuine student influence on academia to canteens being open at 5pm on a Saturday. Everyday, we experience the product of tireless work by voluntary students in and around CBS Students without even knowing it.

CBS STUDENTS POLITICAL COUNCIL Do you have an opinion on SU or on why it is that CBS is extremely underfinanced? Then the CBS Students Political Council is something for you! The council is open for all students at CBS and through discussions and workshops the attendants will formulate the policy of CBS Students for the given topic.

Whether it is as a member of the Board of Directors in Nexus, as a member of a Study Board, or as part of a committee working to improve campus facilities, dedicated students make sure that we, as students, are represented and heard. They do so to make sure that CBS will continue to be a school to be proud of as they ensure quality education as well as the most vibrant study environment in Scandinavia. This is your time, and your university education. You decide what you make of it. Take responsibility, leave your mark, and let it echo long into the future.

STUDY BOARD The study board is in charge of your study program. It is responsible for developing and ensuring the quality of your study line, and it makes all the decisions regarding the content and quality of your program. Students have a unique opportunity to make a difference by running for their study board! Jonas Klint Westermann Chairman of the Board of Directors, CBS Students. 11

WITH SUPPORT FROM The Activity Pool DISTRIBUTION Copenhagen Business School and CBS Students Network CONTRIBUTIONS THE CBS NETWORK BOOK 2017/18 STUDENT SOCIETY & ORGANIZATIONS is published by:

CBS STUDENTS NETWORK The CBS Students Network contains more than 100 student organizations and student unions collectively contributing to the extracurricular life at CBS in a multitude of ways. CBS Students makes an effort to assist and facilitate the student organizations in all ways imaginable and continually provide new measures of support. In the Network we, at CBS Students, arrange several social gatherings and workshops on a topic relevant to the work of the organizations. Besides that, we organize an entire day for all student organizations each year, the Student Society Day, giving them a chance to present themselves to the students of CBS.

To make it possible for the organisations to host great events CBS Students manages the Activity Pool on behalf of CBS allows the organizations to apply for funds of 1.5 mio. DKK every year. Moreover, this Network Booklet is published by CBS Students providing an annual overview of the organizations in the Network. If you cannot find an organization that you would like to join or if you would like to start your own organisation yourself, feel free to drop by the CBS Students’ office at Solbjerg Plads to learn more. For the students by the students

Dear Student, It is a great honour for Carlsberg to welcome you to this booklet. On the next pages, you will find all student organisations and societies at CBS. We highly encourage you to engage in CBS’ many extra-curricular activities as a supplement to your studies. Being a volunteer in a student organisation proofs engagement, experience and commitment. The student organisations at CBS are an excellent way to improve your personal, academic and professional development. This is something we value at Carlsberg. This is why Carlsberg is an integrated and active part of Copenhagen Business School. This is why we sponsor the student organisations and societies at CBS: We want to give you the best learning and study environment! We hope that this booklet will inspire you – to both engage yourself and enjoy the experience with Carlsberg.
