Charlie French

Embracing Creativity, Joy and Advocacy Through Art In the vibrant world of contemporary art, few artists exude the sheer joy and freedom of creativity like Charlie French. A professional intuitive abstract artist, French’s work is characterised by an adventurous spirit and a deep connection

to nature. His journey as an artist is not just a tale of creative exploration, but also a powerful narrative of overcoming personal challenges and advocating for disability rights.

THE IMPACT FORMULA

PAGE 10

The Birth of an Artist For Charlie French, the path to becoming an artist was not a conventional one. "When I turned 25, I told my parents: I am an ARTIST. It’s my JOB," he recalls. This declaration marked the beginning of his professional journey, a journey that would see a garage transformed into a vibrant studio space where he could paint daily. His parents’ support was crucial, providing both emotional encouragement and practical resources, thus enabling French to dive headfirst into his passion. French’s studio is a treasure trove of artistic tools that fuel his creativity. "Some of my favourite tools in my studio include giant window scrapers, fat palette knives, round brushes, and rollers of all sizes," he shares. His favourite colour, green, alongside the blues inspired by the sky and ocean, frequently appear in his work, reflecting his profound connection to nature. "Nature is a BIG inspiration for me. I paint what I see and how I feel, in my own way," he explains. This intuitive approach allows French to translate his inner joy onto the canvas, inviting viewers to share in the emotional resonance of his art. Embracing Freedom and Joy French's philosophy towards art and life is rooted in the concepts of play and freedom. In a world that often feels constrained by rules and judgements, French advocates for a liberating approach. "My message is always that people should PLAY and be FREE: free to be yourself, free to be okay with YOU, free to let go and just be without judgement,"

he emphasises. This mindset allows French to approach each blank canvas with excitement rather than fear, embracing the process and the possibilities it holds. “My message is always that people should play and be free: free to be yourself, free to be ok with YOU, free to let go and just be without judgement.” For French, art is not about perfection but about expression and enjoyment. "If my painting is beautiful, then that’s good. And if my painting is not beautiful, then that’s OK - I can just paint over it and try again," he says. This perspective is a refreshing reminder that creativity is as much about the journey as it is about the destination. It’s an invitation to others to engage in artistic endeavours without the pressure of perfection, to find joy in the act of creation itself. Current Projects and Future Aspirations Charlie French is continually pushing the boundaries of his creativity. One of his most beloved series, "Morning in Paris," is set for a special release in October to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month. This series, known for its vibrant and emotive compositions, resonates deeply with audiences and showcases French’s ability to capture the essence of a moment through abstract forms. Additionally, French is working on illustrating a children's picture book, a project that has seen multiple iterations as he strives for the perfect expression. THE IMPACT FORMULA

"I have painted it many times, but it is not quite right. This spring I will try again," he says with determination. His willingness to revisit and refine his work speaks to his commitment to excellence and his passion for storytelling through art.

“I paint what I see and how I feel, in my own way. The painting process brings me so much JOY. I hope you feel it when you see my ART. ” Spirituality and Balance

Inspirational Forces and Personal Resilience French draws inspiration from his imagination and the unwavering support of his family. "My imagination pushes me to new places every day," he says. His parents’ belief in his artistic potential provided the foundation for his career, and their support continues to be a driving force in his life. Living with Down Syndrome and Down Syndrome Regression Disorder (DSRD), French faces significant challenges. Yet, art serves as a powerful tool for expression and healing. "ART lets me express myself in a way that I haven’t been able to since I got sick with DSRD," he explains. Through his creative process, French navigates the complexities of his condition, finding solace and communication in his artwork.

Spirituality plays a crucial role in French’s life, offering guidance and comfort during difficult times. "When I feel really down, I remember the teachings of Jesus: to be kind to everyone. To love everyone," he shares. This faith, coupled with practical self-care routines such as taking breaks, drinking water, and walking on the treadmill, helps French maintain his emotional and physical well-being. Advocacy and Mission Beyond his artistic endeavours, French is a passionate disability advocate. "It is important to me that people see that someone with a disability can grow up, have a job, and be successful," he asserts. His life and career are testaments to the value and potential of individuals with THE IMPACT FORMULA

A Message of Encouragement Charlie’s message to others is one of empowerment and encouragement. "TRY IT: be FREE, let GO, don’t worry about what will happen. Just find the JOY in the process," he urges. His own journey exemplifies the rewards of embracing creativity with an open heart and mind, and his advocacy work underscores the

importance of inclusion and support for people with disabilities. Charlie French’s story is a powerful reminder of the transformative power of art and the importance of living authentically. Through his vibrant works, his advocacy, and his joyful approach to life, French continues to inspire and uplift those around him, proving that creativity knows no bounds.

shares. Her career highlights include gracing the stages of world-famous Latin contests, where she reached the ranks of finalists and semi-finalists. Two years ago, Nastya moved to the UK, embarking on a new chapter in her life and career. “Moving from Ukraine to the UK without friends and family, I faced the challenges of adapting to a new culture and environment,” she recalls. This transition fueled her commitment to creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome and valued through dance. Empowering Women Through Dance For Nastya, teaching Latin dance goes beyond steps and rhythms; it’s about empowering women. “My primary cause is to empower women through dance,” she emphasises. In her classes, Nastya fosters a supportive community where women can express themselves, build confidence, and find joy in movement. “Dance can be a powerful tool for personal growth and self-discovery,” she believes wholeheartedly. She draws inspiration from her own journey of overcoming challenges. “Watching my students grow and transform through dance motivates me every day,” Nastya shares. Her experience of moving to a foreign country and navigating its challenges has shaped her dedication to helping others find community and belonging through dance. Teaching Philosophy and Advice Nastya’s teaching philosophy emphasises

personal growth and celebrating individual progress. “In a dance class, it's important to remember that everyone starts from somewhere,” she advises. Her approach encourages students to focus on their own journey and set personal goals, fostering an environment free from judgment and competition. She offers practical advice for beginners interested in dance: 1. Research dance styles: Explore different dance styles to find one that interests you. 2. Attend beginner classes: Start with beginner classes to learn the basics. 3. Try online tutorials: Use online tutorials to practice steps and techniques at home. 4. Join dance classes: Consider joining classes for professional guidance and independent practice. 5. Practice consistently: Dedicate regular time to practice and improve skills. 6. Stay positive and patient: Understand that progress takes time; celebrate small achievements along the way. Motivation and Inspiration Nastya finds inspiration in the resilience and strength of women who support one another. “The resilience of women who overcome challenges inspires me,” she says. Her own journey of moving to the UK and adapting to a new culture has reinforced her belief in the transformative power of dance. “I never thought I could do this, but I did it, and that has made me proud of myself,” she reflects. “The best advice I’ve ever been given is to embrace fear and uncertainty as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles to success.”

Impact and Transformation Through Dance As a teacher, Nastya has witnessed the transformative impact of dance firsthand. “I've witnessed the miracle of transformation through dance, seeing students blossom and grow in confidence,” she shares enthusiastically. These experiences deepen her passion for teaching and strengthen her belief in the power of dance to uplift and empower others. Personal Resilience and Overcoming Challenges Nastya’s personal resilience is evident in

her journey from Ukraine to the UK, and her subsequent success as a dance teacher. “Initially, settling into life in the UK was tough, and I struggled a lot,” she admits. However, teaching dance became a turning point, allowing her to pursue her passion and find fulfillment. “Sharing my passion with others reinforced the idea that stepping out of the comfort zone leads to incredible opportunities,” she adds. Her advice for those facing challenges echoes her own journey: “Acknowledge that it's okay not to be okay. Seek support during tough times; it's a sign of strength,” Nastya advises. She emphasises the importance of taking things one step at a time and finding inner strength and resilience. THE IMPACT FORMULA

“Stay true to yourself, remain persistent in the pursuit of your goals, and never underestimate the power of hard work and resilience.” Looking Forward: Goals and Aspirations Looking ahead, Nastya remains dedicated to making a positive impact through her dance teaching. “Ultimately, my goal is to make a positive impact both through my dance teaching, helping others discover their strengths and passions along the way,” she concludes. Her commitment to empowering women and fostering community through Latin dance continues to drive her forward. Nastya Pilnik’s journey from competitive

dancer to inspirational teacher exemplifies the transformative power of dance. Her dedication to empowering women, fostering inclusivity, and celebrating personal growth through dance serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration in the London dance community and beyond. In His Own Words

Greg Holden My Relationship with Traveling

I used to travel relentlessly. In the early years of my career it was out of necessity but quickly it became part of my identity; how I showed the world I was doing well. How I told myself I was doing well. I would get home from months of touring and immediately go on another trip. Last time I counted I’d been to 38 countries and five continents. It got to the point where I recognised flight attendants. It would cost me all the money I made on the road and then some, but I justified it as life experience, which I still stand by as a pretty solid justification. But is it

impressive? Depends who you ask I suppose, but I doubt it. It doesn’t prove much apart from my tolerance for spending time in airports and my lack of concern for my own carbon footprint. Well then came the pandemic and it all ground to a halt anyways. I was stuck whether I liked it or not and my identity and self-worth was in a tailspin. Interestingly though, by the time I was able to safely travel again I didn’t want to, especially after a couple of work trips THE IMPACT FORMULA

PAGE 19

“Why do we travel—apart from work obviously—and what is it about going somewhere else that we find so seductive?”

Becoming a Father Then I had a son last summer and now every time I have to leave him for work my heart is ripped out of my chest. The travel obsession I used to have is gone and has been replaced with a need to be home with him. But that internal conflict is always there. That constant nagging every time I wake up at home asking, if I was in a hotel in Japan, would I be happier? I torture myself ceaselessly and I’m starting to accept it’s something I’ve always done but something I cannot keep doing if I want to find mental peace.

Greg Holden during the pandemic. All of a sudden I had travel anxiety, which felt very unsettling. And so for a year or two I barely traveled by air, which affected my happiness more than I thought it would, sending me into a deep depression. I’m not certain that’s what caused it, but it sure didn’t help. Why though? Why did my mental wellbeing depend so strongly on my travel plans? I longed for it yet dreaded it. Craved it yet avoided it. A typical mental back and fourth I play with my psyche. How can I impose never-ending, unsolvable dilemmas on myself so that I can remain internally and eternally conflicted.

I was in an Uber this morning on my way to the airport pondering this idea which I suppose is why I’m writing this. Why do we travel? Why do we travel—apart from work obviously—and what is it about going somewhere else that we find so seductive? The tourist attractions that seduce the masses have never fulfilled me and in fact always left me feeling quite dissatisfied. I avoid the popular spots—probably to a fault, after all a lot of them are popular for very good reason—and try to seek out something more culturally authentic I suppose. Call me a dreamer I can take it. I wanted to feel lost in the genuineness of the place I was in, under the delusion that

if I kept a low profile I would simply fuse with my environment. But if I’m just going to sit in a restaurant or cocktail bar in a foreign city then I suppose I could just jump in my car and do the same thing in Portland and save myself the time and expense and enjoy it just as much, right? After all, every city I’ve ever lived in has been a tourist destination so why would I need to leave it? I used to balk at that notion but lately it’s starting to sound more and more appealing. To me it feels like since the pandemic, these wonderful places have lost a little of the magic that pulled me there in the first place. Perhaps it’s me that’s lost a little of his magic and I need to stop projecting. If I go somewhere else I still carry the same afflictions; the same judgmental attitude, the same back pain, the same superiority complex, the same ankle pain, insecurities, stresses and anxieties and the same desire to be somewhere that I’m not. Whether I’m in Florence, Bali or at

home, I’m still worried about the same shit and still haunted by the same ghosts. I’m just sitting geographically somewhere else. Will it fix the problem for me to simply run from everyday life and escape to a different city in a different country for a week or month or more? Time has proven to me that the answer is not yes. I guess I’m just trying to deconstruct the mental anguish I put myself through when I’m not traveling, and the same mental anguish I put myself through when I am traveling. Clearly the problem isn’t traveling or not traveling, it’s a problem with sitting comfortably in my own mind. The problem is me. I imagine I’m not the only one to experience this? Never happy now, always happy later if I can just get to that next location. But I never seem to arrive at that next location, and if on a rare occasion I do, I’m promptly deported. A Journey From Shame to Freedom Aly McDonnell is a survivor, an advocate, and a beacon of hope for many who have faced similar traumas. Her story is one of resilience, bravery, and a relentless pursuit of freedom from the clutches of childhood sexual abuse. Through her book, Walking Out of Shame, Aly not only shares her deeply personal experiences but also offers a pathway for others to find their own liberation from shame.

Her candor sets the tone for a narrative that is both raw and empowering. She recounts how she once minimised her trauma, thinking it wasn't as severe because it wasn't violent. "I thought, 'I wasn’t raped' because it wasn’t violent in that way. It was more manipulation and messing with my head." This minimisation kept her pain hidden and unaddressed for many years.

A Personal Introduction

The abuse, perpetrated by her father, began when Aly was about five years old and continued until she was eighteen. "I realised there was this huge chunk of my

and approval, and wanting to step into my own autonomy, wanting to 'grow up.'" This internal conflict contributed to her feelings of isolation and shame. "I kept myself small, quiet, unobtrusive. I stayed in the background as much as possible because I never felt like I quite 'fit in'."

The Journey to Healing

"When I found I could share my story

Writing Walking Out of Shame was a pivotal moment in Aly's healing journey. Published at the age of 64, the book became a medium for her to sort through her past and make sense of her experiences. "The writing of that book was a journey into sorting out what had happened and how it happened, as best I could, and how I had come to find the sense of forgiveness, self-love, and healing."

and be loved just as I was, it was such

Aly's decision to share her story was driven by a newfound sense of freedom. "When I discovered the truth, that I could walk out of the heavy shame that I was carrying and still be embraced and welcomed, I wanted to dance a jig. I wanted to shout it out to anyone who would listen." Her book is a testament to her resilience and her desire to be a beacon for others. Breaking the Silence Aly's abuse began with uncomfortable touches that escalated over the years. This grooming left her feeling confused and powerless. "There had been a lifelong battle between wanting my father’s love

an immense relief. So liberating. I wanted to see if I could be a light for others to find their way to that freedom." Advice for Others Aly offers profound advice for others who resonate with her experiences. "Start small. Begin to tell yourself the truth about your own story, as best you can." She emphasises the importance of selfawareness and self-expression in the healing process. "Journal it. If you’re a songwriter, write a song. If you’re a poet, write a poem. Draw or paint or dance. There are so many ways to feel into and express your story." Aly underscores the significance of finding supportive individuals to share your journey with. "Find someone who has earned the gift and privilege of your story– a friend, someone in the family, a therapist, a coach. Begin to reach out. Your body will tell you along the way what’s right, and what’s too much or going too fast. Go at your own pace." THE IMPACT FORMULA

“Make a promise to yourself that you will not give up on yourself. Get curious. You deserve to be happy, to be free, and each one of us who declares “it ends with me” is creating a better world.” Embracing Miracles Aly's life took an unexpected turn in 2016, which she describes as miraculous. "In 2016, my husband and I had just bought a house... and I had a stable job at a hospital that I had held for eleven years. I was 58 years old and it looked like the road ahead was pretty clear. One month after we moved into the house, everything started to change rapidly." This change led them on a spiritual journey, leaving behind their house, job, and most belongings.

"The life I am living now is both immense freedom and a challenge that I never, ever expected." This unexpected journey culminated in Aly writing her book and continuing to grow and learn every day. “Because of it, at 66, I still feel as if I am still growing every day.” A Mission to Heal Shame Aly's mission is clear: to be an instrument in healing shame in the world. "Shame is insidious. I have learned that it is not only a viscerally painful, debilitating, and isolating emotion, but it is at the root of so much violence, self-destruction and selfharm in the world." She believes that addressing and healing shame is crucial for personal and societal well-being. Aly's message is one of inherent worth and wholeness. "I believe our true state is naturally free, that we are all already whole and complete, and sometimes we are simply on a journey to remember that…to go home." Aly McDonnell's story is a powerful testament to the human spirit's resilience and the transformative power of vulnerability and honesty. Her journey from shame to freedom is an inspiration for anyone struggling with their own traumatic experiences. Through her book, her advocacy, and her unwavering courage, Aly continues to light the way for others to find their own path to healing and liberation. As a magazine and the Editor-in-Chief of The Impact Formula, it is my duty to represent everybody and give everyone a platform in which they can speak openly and educationally when it comes to their beliefs, their family traditions and their gifts, and this is no exception. The media has extensively covered this incredible family of Witches from which we have the absolute pleasure of interviewing, and sharing an insight into the truth behind Europe’s most powerful witches. How would you introduce yourself to those who haven’t come across you yet? I am the witch Mihaela Minca, and together with my 4 daughters; Ana Buzea, Casanndra Buzea, Kalyandra and Anda Mihaela we form the strongest covenant of witches in Europe, who can heal the souls of people who have problems in love and in everyday life. Can you explain to our readers why you do what you do? It is good to know for people all over the world that magic was not invented by me, but that I took it over from generation to generation because it is a tradition from ancient times that we respect with sanctity. I am part of the oldest line of witches- from the days when our ancestors walked with the caravans from one city to another as nomadic gypsies, and read the future and destiny of people on the street. Since the foundation of the Earth, God has left three miraculous powers to help

people in their personal needs, such as the doctor, priest and the witch. My greatest satisfaction is when a person leaves my altar happy. We read people's destiny, unravel black magic spells, help people who can't find their way to happiness, and help them with growth, in business and much more. What drew you to your work and why? I have been drawn to this practice since childhood. Seeing my grandmother around me, and my mother doing ritual spells and helping the world. I was drawn to healing and solving people's problems. To work in magic is very hard but at the same time you can charge yourself with positive energies that help you move forward, and become a strong person in everything you do. Magic is a labyrinth and you can find out much more each time your practice, but you will never reach the other end and that is the mystery. I’ve read that you help people find their true power and have opened up a Witches School to offer a solution for people who need support and are losing hope due to a lack of opportunities around them. Could you tell our readers a bit more about this? As in any culture and profession, every person has a dream that at some point they can transform into reality. In my culture I wanted to open the school of magical traditions and customs, which also teaches rituals. As the only one in the whole world to offer the opportunity to people who want to do investigations in THE IMPACT FORMULA

this field, it’s a great way to enter into this beautiful world- to find out how they can find a way into magic. I wanted to provide this opportunity for people all over the world to maintain the traditions and customs of the gypsies from ancient times. I grew up in a cart and I didn't have the opportunity to learn in a school, because one of the old traditions of the gypsies in our culture, was to walk around with carts and they didn't have the opportunity to be integrated into society. I wanted my daughters to go to school, to learn different languages and, in turn, to teach others about our culture who, unfortunately, until this moment, had not been integrated into society. In my school, my four daughters will teach magic lessons- lessons that teach the gypsies in the community to express themselves grammatically and to be able to manage in this world, with an aim of creating jobs and a path in life. Discrimination in Romania stems from ancient times, even from the days of slavery. Gypsies were just a business for the whole world, they were persecuted and marginalised, and to some extent I want to give them more confidence so that they can integrate into today's society. When the opening of my school happens, I will announce this publicly because there are a lot of people from all over the world who want to visit the school and enter the world of magic. What’s next for your covenant? Exclusively for your magazine I will reveal the next project that we will start in the

near future, after the opening of the Witch School, will be to create our own Roma political party and I will apply for the presidency of the Roma. Whilst there are other established Roma parties, unfortunately there has not been a gypsy woman president so far, so I want to communicate and help the people in the community like me and my daughters. But I will reveal more details about it soon. For Centuries we have been told that Witchcraft is a negative thing to engage with and there has been some degree of fear around the concept of it being used to manipulate others to suit someone else’s agenda. Would you give your take of such practise? First of all, since the beginning of this world people show they are sceptical- let’s not forget the crucifixion of the son of God. The people are made to distrust even themselves. From the earliest times, THE IMPACT FORMULA

PAGE 28

in the days of kings and emperors, witches were burned at the stake because in the history of witches it is said that due to the powers they exercised many wars were won, good witches were lost, others were restricted, for their practice for their power they suffered and paid with blood, they paid with death, they paid with prison but despite all the negative things that happened in the past, the magic and practice of witches continued to our days and will continue from here on. There are people who come to me sceptical and distrustful and ask for my help, but from here they leave happy and with full confidence in the powers of magic because this magic is left by God. God has left person with grace and power so that they can bring light into people's lives. But there will always be pros and cons opinions because people are different and then everyone thinks in their own way. But sooner or later everyone will come to know that the divine power of magic is real and can work wonders.

was a very long and very risky road. Traveling in magic is a life and death risk that I have taken and reached the highest level in the history of magic with my daughters, and unfortunately other people come overnight who use our name and our pictures… We have received countless complaints that there were fake accounts opened with our pictures by other people to mislead the world.

What would like our readers to know about you and your family?

It is good for everyone to know that not all people on Earth who seek the advice of a witch need a ritual, and not every man who comes to a witch has spells cast. There are some lessons that every earthling can practice in your home to attract positive energy, luck and love.

I want to make a very important clarification because of my work and practices of magic from the age of seven, I want to confess that at this moment I have come to be recognized worldwide but don't imagine that it was easy for me, it

My public plea is that whoever really wants to get in touch with me or my daughters please call with video call to make sure you are talking to the right person. It's a shame when you reach a certain level through work and effort and someone else comes to take advantage of the fame and responsibility that you provided from childhood. For anyone interested in Witchcraft, what do you advise they do, and how can they avoid feeling or being influenced by the negative?

Early Beginnings and Musical Obsession From a young age, Lauren Christy was destined for a life in music. "I've been absolutely obsessed with music, songwriting and performing since my family and I found a grand piano buried in our backyard under the lawn when I was 5 years old," she recalls. This serendipitous discovery ignited a passion that has fuelled her ever since. By the age of nineteen, Christy had already made significant strides in her career. Signed to EMI Publishing and Polygram Mercury Records, she quickly established herself as a solo artist. Her talent did not go unnoticed, earning her an American Music Awards nomination for

Best New Artist in 1994. Her song "The Colour of the Night," written for the film Colour of Night, also garnered her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Song in an Original Motion Picture. The Matrix: A Production Powerhouse Lauren Christy's most significant career milestone came with the formation of The Matrix, a production team she cofounded. The Matrix achieved massive success, particularly with Avril Lavigne's debut album, which included international hits like "Complicated," "Sk8er Boi," and "I'm with You." The Matrix's success wasn't limited to Lavigne. Christy and her team have worked with a plethora of top artists, including Rihanna, David Bowie, Britney Spears, Korn, Shakira, Dua Lipa, Bebe Rexha, Quavo, and Jason Mraz. Their influence on the soundscape of modern music is undeniable, and their contributions earned them a Grammy nomination for Producer of the Year, NonClassical at the 46th Annual Grammy Awards, making Christy one of only two women in history to be nominated for this prestigious award for producing artists other than herself. Inspirations and Influences When asked about her inspirations, Christy lists a diverse array of figures who have shaped her artistic vision. "Kate Bush was a huge inspiration for me as an artist. Adele is a favourite, Taylor Swift is an allround genius in all matters of music," she shares. Beyond music, Christy draws strength from trailblazing women like Catherine Hepburn and Lucille Ball for their business acumen and sheer talent. Personal connections also play a crucial role in her life, with her father, Brian Fownes, and her husband, Lawrence Lejohn, providing unwavering support and inspiration.

Before finding faith, Christy relied on antidepressants to cope with the pressures of the entertainment industry. Now, her spirituality provides a guiding force, helping her to maintain balance and perspective. Spirituality has played a transformative role in Christy's life and career. She speaks of moments where she felt a divine presence guiding her creative process. "Sometimes I'll be trying to sing something on the mic and it just sounds awful! I'll say a quick prayer and I'll literally feel the power of the Holy Spirit come through me," she says. Christy attributes the melody for Enrique Iglesias's song "Tonight I'm Loving You" to a prayer and recalls praying for success at a writing camp for Dua Lipa, which resulted in the hit "Blow Your Mind (Mwah)." “God was with me way before I became a Christian and I think the most beautiful thing I learned is that he was there guiding me all along and he is there for everyone.”

Overcoming Adversity Christy's journey has not been without its challenges. She candidly discusses the tools she used to navigate the darkest times of her career. "I became a Christian when I was 42. My faith has been my sanctuary whenever I can't figure out THE IMPACT FORMULA

Current Projects and Future Endeavours Despite her extensive achievements, Lauren Christy continues to innovate and explore new creative avenues. She is currently working on a personal project titled "Their Hits My Way," where she reimagines and performs her hit songs. "I'm putting out one song every five weeks and will release the entire album in 2025," she explains. Additionally, Christy has launched a MasterClass and career consultation service to mentor aspiring musicians.

The Drive to Create Christy's passion for music has always been her driving force. The discovery of a piano in her backyard and her love for ballet as a child set her on the path to a music career. Meeting Michelle Hatch, daughter of renowned songwriter Tony Hatch, shifted her focus from ballet to songwriting. Christy emphasises the importance of dedication in her craft, scheduling regular writing sessions and remaining open to inspiration from the universe. Resilience in a Competitive Industry

Her support for emerging artists extends to her daughters, Georgia Christy Edwards and Sophie Skye Edwards, whose band "SkyeChristy" is signed to Warner Records. Christy is also collaborating with new talents like Haiden Henderson, Sam Short, and Puerto Rican artist Rosse, as well as working on a Christian worship album with Jenn Bostic. “Look after music and music will look after you.”

In an industry known for its competitiveness and cut-throat nature, Christy finds strength in her faith and her focus on helping others. "I try to just go where I feel I can help people. I've been so blessed to have all my dreams come true, so now it's time for me to help other people achieve their dreams," she states. This altruistic approach has served her well, allowing her to maintain perspective and find fulfilment in her work.

Lauren Christy Advice for Aspiring Musicians For those looking to break into the music industry, Christy offers sage advice. "The music business is not for the faint of heart. My father told me, 'Don't do this because you want to do it; do it because you have to do it.'" She encourages aspiring musicians to treat their careers with care, likening it to tending a garden, and stresses the importance of enjoying the journey rather than becoming overly obsessed with success. Challenges and Advocacy Christy also highlights the financial challenges faced by songwriters in the streaming era. She is a vocal advocate for fair compensation, working with organisations like the Songwriters of North America (SONA) and the Ivors Academy to

champion the rights of songwriters. "Right now, being a songwriter is like being a poet. You are pretty much doing this for free as a labour of love," she laments, stressing the need for systemic changes to ensure the sustainability of songwriting as a career. Lauren Christy's career is a testament to the power of passion, resilience, and faith. From discovering a piano in her backyard to shaping the sound of modern pop music, her journey is one of remarkable achievements and inspiring perseverance. As she continues to create, mentor, and advocate, Christy's legacy in the music industry grows ever stronger, guided by her unwavering belief in the power of music and the divine. Meet Aalia Lanius The Unfiltered Advocate for Change Greetings, readers! I am Aalia Lanius, a true multi-hyphenate dedicated to creating positive change in the world. As a seasoned businesswoman, multiple award-winning novelist, Executive Producer, and Certified Human Rights Advocate, I am purposeful in using my abilities to help survivors of trauma feel less isolated and build a strong, supportive community. As a businesswoman, I choose opportunities and projects that act as a positive force in the world, representing what business should truly be about:

survival and fueling the economy, while leaving greed out of the picture. Every business deal I enter into considers the compatibility, the benefit, the integrity of the people involved, and the potential outcomes—not just creating opportunities for ourselves, but for others as well. I believe in ethics and that while success allows people to excel and grow, it should never come at the cost of society or one’s integrity. These principles allow me to focus on what I love most: empowering survivors of trauma. My journey was profoundly shaped by THE IMPACT FORMULA

understanding the power of storytelling and media. Observing the negative historical use of media, particularly through figures like Joseph Goebbels, underscored for me the immense influence of storytelling to both harm and heal society. This realization motivated me to use my platforms to shine a light on human atrocities, document real-life tragedies, and celebrate the resilience of survivors. Additionally, I was inspired by the desire to be UNSUGARCOATED about my approach to what are traditionally taboo topics for women and people of diverse backgrounds. I recognized the need to address these subjects openly and honestly, breaking down barriers and challenging societal norms. The term "UNSUGARCOATED" is so meaningful to me that I trademarked it, as it encapsulates my commitment to authenticity and transparency in my work. In my efforts, I aim to amplify voices that

highlight the critical nature of human rights. I am deeply concerned about the biggest threats to democracy, as human rights depend on it. Fascism still poses a significant threat, and it requires people like myself to continue fighting against it in any way we can. By tackling these difficult topics head-on, I strive to create a more inclusive and understanding world, where every voice is heard and valued, and where the foundations of democracy and human rights are fiercely protected. Every day, I am driven by the stories of those I have the privilege to work with. Their courage, determination, and successes fuel my passion and commitment. Knowing the transformative power of storytelling and media, I aim to use these tools to educate, inspire, and empower others, particularly survivors of trauma. In 2019, I founded UNSUGARCOATED™ Media, a 501(c)(3) media production

enterprise. Through this organization, we have produced novels, social impact short documentaries, and 13 seasons of the multiple award-nominated podcast "UNSUGARCOATED with Aalia," which is watched or listened to in over 70 countries. We also produced the 1-Day Empowerment Event, EmpowerCon. These projects amplify voices and stories that inspire and empower individuals globally and I continue working on them around the world. The outcomes of our work inspire me to keep going. People from around the world have expressed feeling represented and motivated to take action. I’m grateful to be a conduit for good people to come together and support one another. Producing events like EmpowerCon, I’ve seen participants months later still benefitting from their

experiences, applying the lessons into their everyday lives. Mentoring young women and men as young professionals, it has been a great honor to help shape their understanding that you can both do business and be mindful of making a positive social impact through that process. One such instance involved a woman who, after reading my book, found the courage to leave an abusive relationship. These moments of profound transformation and empowerment remind me of the importance of shining a light on the dark corners of human experience and celebrating the strength and resilience of survivors. My faith system is rooted in spirituality and a recognition of an exchange of energy with the universe. This spiritual foundation

helps me remain grounded and resilient, allowing me to approach my work with compassion, objectivity, and clarity. I believe in the power of positive energy and the law of attraction, where the energy we put out into the universe is reflected back to us. This belief shapes my interactions and decisions, guiding me to act with integrity, kindness, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact. It encourages me to seek balance and harmony in all aspects of life, understanding that our actions create ripples that affect the broader community and world. Meditation and mindfulness practices are integral to my spiritual path. These practices help me maintain inner peace and clarity, enabling me to navigate the complexities of my work with a calm and focused mind. They allow me to tap into a deeper sense of intuition and wisdom, which I rely on when making decisions or offering guidance to others. Additionally, I draw inspiration from various spiritual philosophies and teachings that emphasize the importance of love, empathy, and service to others. These teachings reinforce my commitment to helping survivors of trauma and advocating for human rights. They remind me that every act of kindness, no matter how small, contributes to the collective well-being and helps to create a more just and compassionate world. In essence, my spirituality is a source of strength and guidance, providing a

framework for living a purposeful and impactful life. It helps me stay connected to my core values and inspires me to continue my work with unwavering dedication and hope. Through this spiritual lens, I view each challenge as an opportunity for growth and each success as a step toward a more equitable and loving world. For anyone going through a difficult time, I offer this advice: Remember that you are not alone. Reach out for support, whether from friends, family, or professional resources. Embrace the strength within you and take one step at a time. In Japanese culture, there is an art called Kintsugi, where broken pottery is repaired with gold, increasing its value. Similarly, when life breaks you, repair yourself with golden qualities like self-love, compassion, and patience. Embrace your scars as stories of survival and resilience, allowing them to transform you into something uniquely beautiful. Trust in the process, and watch how your repaired cracks make you not just whole, but extraordinary. Words: Aalia Lanius

Which is Teamakers (Suranne Jones and her husband Laurence Akers’ Production Companies) first documentary. It shows the perils and the attitudes towards Witches and what happened to

male dominance and the hierarchy that was in place and how grossly the bullying and threat was. Women were murdered to set an example of what it would be like to compromise and step out of the gendered preferred role play of that time. Suranne digs deep, even going back to her own roots and instincts with a curiosity that not only delivers but does these women justice. The production of this documentary brings a sensitivity which I am sure will resonate with many of us, at how deeply personal these persecutions were. They were not just trials, they were an attack on our very femininity. Divine femininity is often celebrated through Arthurian literature and paintings from the Pre-Raphaelite era, however it seems to be only the poetic that appreciate such strong female gifts and characteristics, but pitted against religion and we have the persecution of such qualities, from the embarrassment of Eve, from the Adam and Eve story, where Eve is condemned and to be eternally blamed

for the whole of Mankind's downfall (ironically, it is Adam, with the Adam's Apple, but let’s not go there!) and the Witches sort of become the next chapter in the hunt for feminine shame. This documentary doesn’t just scratch the surface of the tragedy of it, it more secures the ideology that Womanhood is most definitely mis-represented and seen as a complete threat to religious construct in particular. From my own experiences with Witches and the other features within this magazine edition, it is very evident that Witchcraft is a wholesome act, engineered to bring about positive change but still, a mystery that no one can fully understand and a practice that cannot be controlled by others. Perhaps that is why it was demonised. Something so natural and old seems to be a threat to national security of the highest order. What a shame to be so misunderstood. Soraya Mansour is a Rapid Transformational Therapist (RTT), Clinical Hypnotherapist, Master Neurolinguistic Practitioner, and Akashic Records reader. Her mission? To guide and support clients on their journey of rediscovering their inherent perfection and spiritual essence.

From Personal Struggles to Professional Triumphs Soraya’s journey to becoming a therapist was neither straightforward nor devoid of challenges. Initially, she aspired to be a clinical psychologist, studying psychology at university. However, setbacks in achieving the required grades led her to carry a belief of not being good enough for many years. This belief, coupled with a THE IMPACT FORMULA

series of career changes and personal hardships, including a difficult marriage, motherhood, the loss of her mother, and a subsequent divorce, deeply impacted her self-worth. Amidst these life changes, Soraya found traditional therapy ineffective. It exacerbated her feelings of inadequacy rather than alleviating them. Turning to self-medication and external distractions to numb her emotions, she avoided confronting the deep-seated belief that she wasn't enough. It was during the summer of 2020, amidst the COVID-19 lockdown, that she found her true calling. Engaging with numerous well-being podcasts, she stumbled upon an interview with Marisa Peer, who introduced her to the concept of Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT). Marisa's analogy—that addressing emotional pain should be as immediate as extracting an infected tooth— resonated deeply with her. This epiphany led her to embark on RTT training, and she hasn't looked back since. The Power of Holistic Modalities “My superpower is undoubtedly my caring side. I've come to realise that my emotional intelligence and compassion are strengths, not weaknesses. It's fascinating how what was once considered a vulnerability has evolved into a force for good in my life. ”

Soraya’s therapeutic approach is unique, integrating various modalities to offer a comprehensive healing experience. As an RTT Practitioner, Clinical Hypnotherapist, Master Neurolinguistic Practitioner, and Akashic Records reader, she believes in the spiritual aspect of existence, emphasising that we are spiritual beings navigating human lives. These practices helped her find balance, resilience, and strength, allowing her to navigate the emotional and financial stress of being a single parent.

"Starting my day with morning exercise was a game-changer," Soraya recalls. "It not only kept me physically fit but also lifted my mood and energy levels. Initially seen as a vulnerability, she has come to embrace her emotional intelligence and compassion as her superpower. "In the past, people labelled me as 'too emotional,' leading to self-consciousness," Soraya admits. "However, I've come to realise that my caring nature is a strength, not a weakness. It has led me to genuinely believe that I'm in my element doing the work that I do." The Journey from Actor to Mentor Jack Ryder’s journey in the entertainment industry began at the tender age of sixteen when he joined EastEnders. “I’ve been in the entertainment industry for quite a while,” Jack reflects. “Through that time, I’ve been lucky enough to try on many different hats in relation to TV, Film, and Theatre - from acting to directing to writing.” This breadth of experience is what he now brings to his coaching sessions, offering a well-rounded perspective to his clients. After his stint on EastEnders, Jack continued to diversify his career. He appeared in various TV series, including In The Club, Henry V, Holby City, M.I.T., and Silent Witness. His theatre credits are equally impressive, having worked on

Jack’s lifelong fascination with storytelling is a driving force behind his career. “Stories and storytelling in many of its forms has always fascinated me from a very young age and it’s always felt like my home,” he reflects. This passion for narrative and his extensive experience in the industry make him an ideal mentor for aspiring actors. The Birth of Jack Ryder Sessions Jack’s decision to start the Jack Ryder Sessions was driven by his passion for acting and a desire to share his knowledge. “It’s all I know,” he says candidly. “Growing up, I was a huge fan of movies and TV shows. I’ve always been a self-motivator and good with people. I like being helpful to people who are wanting to better themselves and are striving for something more.” This intrinsic motivation to help others, combined with his vast industry experience, forms the cornerstone of his coaching philosophy. The Jack Ryder Sessions are designed to cater to actors at all stages of their careers. Whether someone is just starting out, seeking to gain industry knowledge, or a professional needing assistance with an audition, Jack provides tailored guidance. “My aim is to coach you through the THE IMPACT FORMULA

process, share with you some of the disciplines you may need, and give you that encouragement and guidance you might not have had,” he explains. The Intimate Approach to Coaching Jack’s approach to coaching is refreshingly intimate and personal. He describes his sessions as an “around the kitchen table” workspace, creating a comfortable and uninhibited environment for his clients. This setting allows for honest, open communication and a deeper connection between coach and student. “I believe this refreshing, intimate approach offers so much more than a simple how-to guide,” he asserts. “It’s about creating a comfortable, un-inhibiting space where we can work together effectively.” Inspiration and Philosophy When asked about what inspires him, Jack’s response is deeply reflective. “Many

things- Films, Music. My daughter. The people closest to me. A simple view over the horizon can tell me everything I need to know,” he shares. This sense of grounding and appreciation for the simple things in life also influences his coaching style. He believes that having a calm, clear mind and a nurturing environment is crucial for creativity and personal growth. Jack’s philosophy extends to his approach in dealing with life’s challenges. He emphasises the importance of gratitude and self-care. “Getting back to appreciating on a very basic level what you already have. The things you had no hand in. Like the sun rising every day. The air you get to breathe. Your limbs that work, your eyes that see, the people in your life,” he explains. This mindset of gratitude, coupled with a focus on health and wellbeing, forms the foundation of his resilience and ability to navigate through difficult times. THE IMPACT FORMULA

“Gratitude, and I mean real gratitude, is the key to taking that next step forward.” The Impact of Mentorship One of the most rewarding aspects of Jack’s coaching work is seeing the positive impact it has on his clients. “Nothing feels quite as sweet as when a client contacts me and says they got the job,” he reveals. This sense of fulfilment and satisfaction underscores his commitment to his clients’ success. Jack’s dedication to mentoring goes beyond mere technical instruction; it’s about fostering personal and professional growth. A Vision for the Future Looking ahead, Jack is focused on continuing to grow the Jack Ryder Sessions. “Helping and coaching actors from all walks of life is a fulfilling venture that I plan to continue moving forward with,” he says. His goal is to provide actors with the tools, disciplines, and encouragement they need to succeed, much like the exceptional mentors who have influenced his own life and career. The Role of Spirituality While Jack does not consider himself overtly religious, he acknowledges a sense of faith and trust in the universe. He speaks fondly of his stepmother, who was a deeply religious person and whose the universe. He speaks fondly of his stepmother, who was a deeply religious person and whose memory he honours in quiet moments of reflection. For Jack,

spirituality is less about organised religion and more about an intrinsic belief in the unseen forces that shape our lives. However, he emphasises that his work is rooted in practicality and discipline, a testament to his balanced and grounded approach to life and art. Miracles and Life’s Journeys Jack views life through a lens of wonder and possibility. “Miracles? Well, if you really look there are miracles happening around us all the time,” he says. His perspective on life is shaped by an awareness of the interconnectedness of events and the delicate balance of chance and opportunity. This outlook informs his coaching philosophy, encouraging his clients to see the beauty in their own journeys and to recognise the potential in every moment. Jack Ryder’s transition from beloved TV actor to inspiring acting coach is a testament to his versatility and dedication to the craft. Through the Jack Ryder Sessions, he offers a unique and personalised approach to acting coaching, grounded in his extensive industry experience and a genuine desire to help others succeed. As he continues to guide and mentor the next generation of actors, Jack’s impact on the industry is set to grow, one session at a time. For aspiring actors seeking a mentor who understands the intricacies of the profession and offers heartfelt guidance, Jack Ryder stands as a beacon of inspiration and support. The Soul Behind the Suit Some of you may know that I have a background in Corporate. I worked and continue to work for some very high end and globally recognised companies and brands, so you may be wondering how on earth I grew a Spiritual business when I could be so far removed from it in my day to day life? Well, what I discovered was quite the opposite. The more company functions I went to and the more interviews I attended, the more I realised that actually CEO’s and Managing Directors are actually quite spiritual people, but they don’t necessarily even recognise it within themselves. They take calculated risks, which in turn could be seen as a spiritual practise, they exercise and stick to a religious regime of self-development which in turn exercises self-discipline, so the terms disciple could

They use their background and their knowledge to measure their next move and take calculated risks, so they work and move towards something that is yet to be fully revealed. Upon speaking with many of my colleagues, it felt like the higher up they got, the more in line with their beliefs they became, some told me they attended Church every Sunday and some even had practises such as hobbies like cycling or badminton that helped them stay mindful. Introducing Caoimhe Flanagan Weaving Magic into Everyday Life through Art and Storytelling

Nestled in a charming cottage amidst the scenic Irish countryside, Caoimhe, an artist, children’s book author, and keen gardener, shares her journey of creativity, passion, and the enchanting power of storytelling. With her husband and two beautiful children by her side, Caoimhe's life is a testament to the magic that can be found in the everyday. A Life Steeped in Creativity “I’m Caoimhe, an artist, children’s book

author, music lover, and keen gardener,” she introduces herself. For Caoimhe, creativity is the essence of her being. “I feel incredibly lucky to wake up every day and get to do what I do. I have always been a creative person, so spending my days writing and illustrating is hugely fulfilling for me.” Her journey into the world of children's literature has been driven by her experiences as a mother and her deep connection to nature. THE IMPACT FORMULA

PAGE 56

"Becoming a mother has fuelled my passion for creating art and stories that hopefully resonate with the innocence and curiosity of children, and it allows me to share a little piece of my heart and soul with the world." Inspiration Behind the Magic In November 2023, Caoimhe realised a lifelong dream with the release of her illustrated chapter book, Willow Wood Land and The World of Yesterday, aimed at readers aged 7 and up. The story follows Aria, a girl born with magic in her soul, who is halfhuman and half-faery, navigating her adventures in the mystical world of Willow Wood Land. The inspiration for this book is deeply rooted in Caoimhe's cherished childhood memories and the enchanting natural landscape of Ireland. “My book is very much inspired by the stunning Irish natural landscape and cherished childhood memories spent in my grandfather's cottage garden. His garden was truly enchanting, and it not only Issue 27 | 234

inspired my book but also my love of gardening.” Caoimhe and her family have since restored this magical garden, and watching her own little ones searching for fairies in the garden has allowed her to weave those childhood fairy tales into her storytelling. The Creative Process and Motivation Caoimhe's creative journey is one of constant evolution and fulfillment. “The passion and love I have for art and storytelling serve as a constant source of motivation. Bringing my book from an idea to a finished piece in my hand was hugely fulfilling.” Despite the challenges, she found the process of publishing her book to be a significant learning curve and immensely rewarding. Her creativity is largely inspired by nature. “The natural world is just brimming with magic and wonder and I absolutely love capturing a piece of that and translating it onto paper for little minds to read.” Caoimhe’s work not only allows her to fulfill her artistic aspirations but also to create a livelihood doing what she loves while being present for her children. Future Projects and Collaborations Caoimhe's mind is teeming with story ideas. She is currently working on the second book in the Willow Wood Land series, and an exciting collaboration with Irish illustrator Deborah Maguire on a picture book for younger children. These projects reflect her ongoing commitment to bringing magic and wonder to young readers.

The Importance of Storytelling For Caoimhe, storytelling is a vital part of both childhood and adult life. “I was lucky to grow up in a family where reading was encouraged, and I quickly realised that fairy/fantasy stories were my favorite genre.” She vividly recalls the impact of books like Enid Blyton’s The Faraway Tree series, which captivated her with their whimsical worlds and relatable characters. “These stories I read as a child and those magical beings who gifted those tales to me shaped the adult I have become today,” she says. Storytelling, according to Caoimhe, ignites imagination and creativity, allowing us to explore new worlds and possibilities beyond our own experiences. She believes that storytelling is equally important for adults, providing escapism and new perspectives. A Spiritual Connection to Nature While raised Catholic, Caoimhe describes herself as a deeply spiritual person. She finds a profound sense of connection to the natural world and the rhythms of life. “I find a deep sense of connection to the beauty and rhythms of the natural world, how all living things are interconnected.” This connection serves as a source of solace and inspiration for her, especially during times of creative block or stress. Caoimhe's philosophy is encapsulated in her mother’s words: “What’s meant for you, won’t pass you.” These words have guided her through difficult times, reminding her of the interconnectedness of all things and the importance of staying hopeful and kind to oneself. THE IMPACT FORMULA

PAGE 58

Witnessing Miracles in Creativity Reflecting on her journey, Caoimhe sees her current life as a miracle. “When I look back to where I started and the vision I had for my art business, and then see how different my life is right now, that in itself feels like a miracle to me.” She emphasises the importance of hope and resilience, drawing from her own experiences of overcoming self-doubt and unexpected life changes. Advice for Difficult Times Caoimhe offers simple but profound advice for those going through tough times: “Always try to stay hopeful. Hopeful for brighter days ahead. Surround yourself with like-minded people and most importantly, be kind to yourself.” She resonates with Leonard Cohen’s words, “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in,” reminding us

that brighter days will come and bring a stronger, more resilient self. A Mission Rooted in Magic Caoimhe's mission is to create characters and stories that inspire children to find magic in everyday life. “I’d love to inspire kids to look for the magic in the everyday because it is all around us, waiting to be discovered.” Through her work, Caoimhe continues to weave enchantment into the lives of her readers, one story at a time. In a world often devoid of wonder, Caoimhe's storytelling offers a refreshing reminder of the magic that lies just beneath the surface of everyday life. Her journey is a testament to the transformative power of creativity, resilience, and the simple joys of storytelling. A Lifelong Commitment to Education and Empowerment Ivana’s introduction is as straightforward as it is inspiring: “I am an experienced career coach/trainer/consultant with over 20 years experience of working in the education industry. I work with both young people aged 11-19 and adults. My passion lies in helping young people in particular, believe in themselves and challenge head on the limiting beliefs that exist in all of us that can steal our dreams.” Her work spans multiple projects, each aimed at fostering growth and self-belief. “I currently work in two schools as a career consultant,” Ivana shares. “I also work as a presenter on a local radio show where we interview women from all walks of life; entrepreneurs, authors, charity workers, business owners, and those that have an important story to tell.” Additionally, Ivana is developing an initiative to bring information to busy professionals who might struggle to attend their children’s higher education or career pathways events due to work commitments. Navigating Challenges and Offering Hope In recent years, many have faced unprecedented personal and professional challenges. Ivana offers a perspective grounded in resilience and empathy. “Life has been hard for a lot of people,” she acknowledges. “But something that made me feel better was a quote that said, ‘If we all put our problems in the middle of a circle, we’d look around at everyone else’s, grab ours and run for the hills.’ No matter how bad we think our life is, there are

always others struggling more than us.” Ivana emphasises that adversity is often a powerful teacher. “It is from things going wrong in our lives that we learn the most about ourselves and our resilience. Our ability to bounce back! Most successful people will tell you that they are who they are because of the challenges they faced. It’s not what happens to us in life that defines us, but our ability to handle it.” A Mindset of Positivity and Growth Ivana’s outlook on life was profoundly influenced by learning about NeuroLinguistic Programming (NLP). “Learning about NLP many years ago completely changed my outlook on life,” she explains. “It taught me how to view life in a different way, to reframe things.” This approach helps her and those she coaches to see challenges from a more positive perspective. For instance, Ivana recounts how reframing can shift one’s mindset: “‘It’s raining – change it to ‘it’s raining, but at least the farmers will get a bumper crop this year!’ Or, ‘It’s raining, but at least I won’t have to water my garden today!’ The radio in my car isn’t working, but at least my car is working, and I don’t have to get the bus!’” By not getting stuck in negative language, she helps young people and adults alike to see beyond immediate obstacles. Pushing Boundaries and Embracing Fear Ivana’s life philosophy centers on stepping out of comfort zones. “It’s never crowded along the extra mile. Everything you want THE IMPACT FORMULA

is just outside your comfort zone,” she asserts. Her personal achievements are a testament to this belief. Despite being told she couldn’t run around her garden, Ivana completed the London Marathon. She painted a mural when told she wasn’t creative, and even took a stand-up comedy course despite not being considered a comedic person. These experiences highlight Ivana’s commitment to lifelong learning and creating memorable experiences. “I believe in lifelong learning, in not just sitting back and waiting to die but going out and creating memories.” Inspiration and Overcoming SelfSabotage Ivana acknowledges that self-sabotage and imposter syndrome are common obstacles. Reflecting on an early career experience, she shares, “When I had to stand up in front of 200 parents in a grammar school to deliver a presentation the first month I qualified, I was so scared that my lips got stuck to the top of my gums as my mouth was so dry. It was the most terrifying experience ever, but I got through it.” Her ability to overcome fear and doubt serves as a powerful example for those she coaches. Ivana explains that selfsabotage often stems from not truly wanting to pursue a particular path. By helping individuals recognise their true desires, she guides them toward more fulfilling careers.

perseverance. “My children inspire me to want to become more,” she says. “I never ever want my children to not believe that they can achieve anything they want in life.” Faith also plays a role in Ivana’s life. “I do believe in God and that when we die our souls don’t die with us but are energy and cannot be destroyed. I have lost loved ones, and it comforts me to feel that they are together once more.” Radiating Positivity Ivana aims to be a source of positivity in the lives of others. “In life, there are people who are radiators and those who can be drains,” she observes. “Some people, when you have met them, or had a conversation with them, you leave feeling that your energy is completely drained! Others, you leave with a smile on your face and totally uplifted. I always strive to be the latter and not the former.” A friend recently encapsulated Ivana’s impact: “You are one of the most inspiring, supportive people I have ever had in my life, you bring sunshine, energy, and in short, many times I think how very lucky everyone whose life you’re in is to have you. ”Ivana O’Brien’s journey is a powerful narrative of resilience, self-belief, and the relentless pursuit of growth. Whether through coaching, radio hosting, or her personal endeavors, she continues to inspire and uplift those around her. Her story is a testament to the transformative power of positivity, learning, and pushing beyond comfort zones.

The Interiors Event of the year goes to…WOW!House As we naturally migrate into Summer from Spring, it is natural to have that reflected in our social calendars and mine just got a hell of a lot busier. I was lucky enough to be invited to the Spectacular third edition of Wow! House at the London’s Design Centre in Chelsea Harbour. Not only was it an opportunity to be immersed into a world that is quite unfamiliar to me but it was also an opportunity to learn from the very best. It really was like Alice going down the fabulous interior design rabbit hole! The only problem was, I didn’t want to come out.

As you walk into Sir John Soane’s museum, the array of interesting collectables all telling their unique stories lures you in with some kind of cerebral romance from which you have absolutely no control over. to fully take in, so you have to bring it down a notch and savour every single step and every single placement and my God it was worth it! What an experience! This year’s installation had 19 rooms and each one was so incredibly different and unique. From the Swan-Lake inspired library by Andrea Benefettini, which was both serene and magical to The Dining Space by Suzy Hoodless, an embodiment of joy provoking eclectic brilliance. The show in its own right is intelligent and intricate in its ability to naturally carry you from one mood to another. It really is a place where dreams come true. A harbouring thought which awakens the designer within and all of a sudden you dream of living amongst these designs, whereas before you didn’t even think of them. Such miraculous inaugural experiences just leave you wanting more and before you know it, the appetite for design has begun. It’s quite brilliant to be able to attend an

event like this and be immersed in something so incredibly inspiring. There was a natural pulse that tied everyone together, like a subterranean nuance of diversification meets respect. Its wealth of colour, fabric and textures allowed your imagination to run riot as you released your normal, mundane life requirements behind you and allow yourself to fully submerge into the imagination of the formidable, enchanting artists. I highly recommend WOW!House. Not only is the vibe something quite unique but the intelligent creative software that is the underbelly of the exhibition naturally encases you and just keeps feeding you with more nutritional creativity. You leave feeling fulfilled and happy and that is always a good sign that it has been a great experience. With a career spanning 36 years, Laurence has worn many hats—writer, producer, director, cameraman, and editor. Currently, he runs TeamAkers Productions alongside his wife, the acclaimed actress Suranne Jones.

with a long career in media. As he puts it, reaching a certain stage or age in one's career can lead to invisibility and being pigeonholed. This realisation was a driving force behind the establishment of TeamAkers Productions. "Trying to get experience over the age of 40 is pretty difficult," Laurence notes, highlighting the competitive nature of the industry, especially against younger, less costly talent.

Laurence had a drama series that was initially picked up by Sky, and later by Alibi, only to be dropped due to budget reallocations necessitated by COVID-19 safety measures. Losing his agent during this period was another blow, yet Laurence remains undeterred. He now navigates the industry independently, relying on ad-hoc help from his wife’s agency and their lawyers when necessary. Sustaining Creativity and Motivation

TeamAkers Productions was born out of a desire to break free from these constraints and explore diverse creative avenues. Laurence sees it as a creative hub without limits, capable of encompassing film, theatre, TV, charity, art, and books. It provides a platform for storytelling that transcends traditional boundaries, allowing both Laurence and Suranne to bring their unique visions to life. “I really see TeamAkers as a creative hub for us with no limits.” Navigating Challenges and Finding Resilience The past few years have been particularly challenging, not least because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Laurence admits that while the lockdowns were uncomfortable at times, they also offered unexpected benefits, such as the opportunity to spend more time with his family. "We really made the most of it," he recalls, sharing memories of building obstacle courses with his son and catching up on films and TV shows. Professionally, however, the pandemic brought significant setbacks.

For someone in the creative industry, sustaining motivation and creativity is crucial. Laurence acknowledges that motivation can be fickle, sometimes flowing freely and other times requiring a conscious effort to rekindle. He emphasises the importance of giving oneself time to think and engaging in other activities when creativity stalls. "I tend to go off and do something else— wash the car, walk the dogs, tidy the house, or a bit of DIY," he shares, noting that these activities help keep his mind occupied while allowing ideas to simmer. Laurence is also critical of the industry's tendency to chase the next big hit rather than nurturing original ideas. He points out that while broadcasters often seek the "next Broadchurch or Doctor Foster," genuine originality is rare but far more rewarding when it strikes a chord with audiences. This philosophy underpins the projects at TeamAkers Productions, which focus on deeply human stories that resonate on a personal level. Championing the Arts Laurence's commitment to storytelling THE IMPACT FORMULA

extends beyond his professional endeavors. He and Suranne are patrons of The Sheringham Little Theatre, a role that underscores their dedication to promoting the arts, especially in rural areas. Laurence highlights the importance of supporting all aspects of theatre, not just the performance but also the behind-thescenes work. He believes that promoting careers in theatre, TV, and film can provide valuable opportunities for young people who might not otherwise have access to the arts. Laurence is critical of the current government's attitude towards the arts, arguing that it is undervalued because its profit potential isn't immediately apparent. He laments that hedge fund managers in positions of power often fail to appreciate the intrinsic value of the arts. Despite these challenges, Laurence remains committed to championing creativity and supporting the arts in any way he can. “I think a lot of people hear the word Theatre and immediately think it’s all about jazz hands and tap but there’s so much more to it.” Philosophy and Personal Practices While Laurence doesn't follow a specific faith system, he values the principles of kindness and mindfulness. He describes himself as fascinated by religion, appreciating its storytelling aspects, but doesn't adhere to religious beliefs. Instead, Laurence finds solace in daily practices like working out, cold water therapy, yoga, and calisthenics. He strives to maintain a positive outlook,

emphasising the importance of doing one's best and not being too hard on yourself when things don't go as planned. Connecting with Others Laurence's approach to life is grounded in simple yet profound acts of kindness. He and his son make a point of greeting everyone they encounter on their walks, a gesture that often leads to meaningful interactions. Laurence believes that such small acts can make a significant difference in someone's day, fostering a sense of community and connection. Future Prospects Looking ahead, Laurence and TeamAkers Productions continue to explore new creative avenues. He encourages readers to keep an eye on their website, for updates on their latest projects. Laurence's journey is a testament to the power of resilience, creativity, and the enduring impact of storytelling. Whether through film, television, or theatre, he remains dedicated to bringing unique and compelling stories to life, inspiring others to do the same. Laurence Akers embodies the spirit of a true storyteller—one who navigates challenges with grace, finds inspiration in everyday moments, and remains committed to the transformative power of the arts. His work, both past and present, serves as a reminder of the importance of creativity in a world that often overlooks its value.

Transforming Spaces with Colour and Passion Linda Doubleday, a Swedish-born property stager and interior designer, has brought her creative flair to the picturesque coast of Dorset with her family of five and a dog! With a background in fashion and retail from her years in Hong Kong, Linda's journey to becoming a renowned home stager in the UK is a testament to resilience, creativity, and the pursuit of passion.

From Corporate Life to Creative Freedom Linda's life took a significant turn in 2016 when she moved to the UK for her children's education. "Going from managing a big team and travelling the world for work, I was throwing myself into the role of a full-time housewife with a husband 6000 miles away," she reflects. THE IMPACT FORMULA

This transition was challenging, leading to a period of self-doubt and a loss of confidence. However, Linda's determination to find a new purpose drove her to reinvent herself. The COVID-19 lockdown provided an unexpected opportunity. With her children at home for online lessons, Linda decided to pursue her certification as a professional home stager. "It was 12 very full-on weeks juggling a course and the children’s schooling," she says. Upon completing her diploma, she was invited to join the company running the course as an Associate, taking on projects in her area. Despite the challenges of starting a business during a pandemic, Linda found fulfillment in seeing her staged homes sell quickly and the satisfaction of her clients. Words of Wisdom for Challenging Times Linda acknowledges the difficulties many have faced over recent years and offers advice rooted in her own experiences. "Keep learning and keep expanding your mind! Try new things both personally as well as in your work life to avoid becoming stagnant," she encourages. Embracing change and viewing it as an opportunity rather than a limitation is a mindset that has served her well. The Power of Colour and Organisation For Linda, colour is a profound source of inspiration and motivation. "I have always colour coordinated my books, clothes and used colour in all my notes, reports, and to-do lists," she shares. This love for colour

extends into her project management approach, where she uses a traffic light system to organise tasks. "I find it very satisfying when everything is green!" Daily Practices for Inspiration and Well-Being Maintaining her energy and inspiration is essential for Linda's creative pursuits. She begins each day with a gratitude log and commits to regular exercise. "I start every morning by writing down or thinking of five things I am grateful for that day and five things I am going to accomplish or work on," she explains. Additionally, she enjoys early morning walks along the beach with a friend and their two dogs, which helps set a positive tone for the day. While Linda does not follow a specific spiritual path, she finds value in certain practices like Kundalini yoga with Gong baths during the full moon. "It is both good mental and physical exercise and healing," she notes. A Mission to Inspire and Empower Linda's journey of reinvention and success in a new career later in life serves as an inspiration to many. "It is never too late to learn something new or change career path," she asserts. At age 50, she retrained and started her own business, a decision that has brought her immense satisfaction. Linda is now an advocate for women in business, actively networking and supporting others. "We all inspire and support each other," she says, highlighting the importance of community and mutual encouragement. THE IMPACT FORMULA

Toni Fontaine

An Unyielding Advocate for Victims of Domestic Violence

In the quiet corners of Australia, a dedicated Senior Project Officer named Toni Fontaine tirelessly champions the rights and safety of domestic violence victims. At 50 years old, Toni's professional life is interwoven with her passion for helping others, and her personal life reflects a profound love for animals. As a public servant, Toni has devoted her career to being a vital conduit between victims and the police, ensuring that those in peril have a voice and the support they need. A Lifeline for Victims Toni's journey into her role is fueled by a deep-seated desire to aid those who find themselves in the harrowing throes of

domestic violence. She acknowledges the daunting task victims face when dealing with the police—a scenario that can often feel intimidating and overwhelming. Victims might call the police themselves or have neighbours intervene, leading to a situation where they might become defensive or fearful, especially if the perpetrator is within earshot. Toni emphasises the importance of remaining calm and concise in these moments, urging victims to communicate their fear without feeling pressured to divulge every detail on the spot. Comprehensive details can be furnished later when applying for a Domestic Violence Order (DVO). The transformation Toni witnesses in the victims she assists is profoundly gratifying. THE IMPACT FORMULA

PAGE 79

She describes the immense satisfaction of seeing someone who was once terrified and unable to make eye contact evolve into a person who is relaxed, confident, and capable of making independent decisions. This metamorphosis, she asserts, is a powerful testament to the impact of effective support and intervention. “I enjoy helping people and really wanted to be the conduit between the victims and Police.”

Navigating Personal and Professional Challenges The past few years have been particularly taxing for Toni, impacting her mental, physical, and emotional health. Her role, demanding and intense, is not designed for long-term sustainability. Working within a small team of three, tasked with serving a catchment of 2.5 million people, has proven to be unsustainable. She has seen colleagues succumb to the strain of "DV fatigue," exacerbated by under-resourced districts and decisions made by management without a full grasp of their unintended consequences. To cope, Toni underscores the importance of maintaining interests outside of work. She recounts her early morning walks, sometimes as early as 4am, and the solace she finds in spending time with friends, enjoying nature, and caring for her animals. Exercise, she notes, is a crucial component of her well-being, putting her in a better frame of mind. Recently, she

has taken to walking in the early mornings without her iPod, savouring the natural sounds of the world waking up. Seeking Help and Setting Boundaries Toni is candid about her struggles with anxiety, which manifested as chest pains— a new and alarming experience for her. After a physical stress test revealed no physical issues, she turned to a psychologist, a decision she considers one of the best she has ever made. The psychologist equipped her with valuable tools to navigate her stress and frustration, particularly when dealing with challenging workplace processes and legislation. Toni also benefited from EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy, which she found remarkably effective. She advises others who are struggling to seek help without hesitation, to "put your hand up, put it up very high." Additionally, Toni stresses the importance of setting boundaries, especially when discussing work with friends and family. Keeping work-related conversations brief and detaching from the job after hours are essential practices for maintaining mental health. “If you are struggling, put your hand up, put it up very high." Finding Spiritual Solace and Guidance Toni's spiritual journey provides her with additional support and comfort. Raised Catholic, she attends church during Easter

and Christmas Eve and has a keen interest in spiritual faith and guiding angels. Her encounters with a psychic named Katie have been particularly impactful. Katie's readings, which astonishingly mirrored Toni's experiences without her needing to explain, offered her significant reassurance and guidance. Toni has since embraced listening to podcasts recommended by Katie, including those by Marisa Peer, finding them life-changing and relatable. One of Katie's pieces of advice that resonated deeply with Toni was to "unsubscribe from the results you don’t want." This mindset shift allowed Toni to relax and stop worrying about outcomes beyond her control, ultimately leading to favorable decisions. A New Chapter and Continued Advocacy During a recent Christmas break, Toni decided it was time to pass the torch and let someone else continue the fight. She took an extended leave, prioritising her health and well-being, and reconnecting with her family. This period of rest allowed her to rediscover aspects of her old self, much to the delight of her loved ones. Toni firmly believes that putting oneself first is not selfish but essential for longterm health and happiness. As she prepares to return to work, Toni is excited about her new role, which will involve helping individuals achieve their dream of becoming police officers. She views this as an opportunity to learn new skills while still contributing meaningfully to others' lives. Toni remains committed to

maintaining boundaries and continues to seek spiritual guidance, “perhaps with another reading from Katie Queue”. A Lasting Impact Toni's dedication extends beyond her professional duties. She is a passionate animal lover, consistently donating to animal charities and encouraging others to do the same, no matter how small the contribution. She believes in the power of small gestures, like smiling or greeting someone by name, to make a significant impact on others' lives. Toni's unwavering commitment to helping domestic violence victims, coupled with her personal resilience and spiritual faith, makes her a beacon of hope and strength. Her story is a testament to the power of compassion, the importance of seeking help, and the profound impact of maintaining a balanced, purpose-driven life. Her experiences have shaped her empathetic approach to mental health and her ability to navigate the complexities of founding and growing a business. “Even if things don’t work out, I fail or things go wrong, I am not back there,” she says, emphasising her perspective on overcoming adversity. Supporting Young People and Addressing Systemic Issues Sophie is particularly passionate about supporting young people. She believes the current education system is outdated and fails to teach essential mental health and well-being skills. “We now have generations of young people that can pass a test on maths and English but are desperately unhappy, anxious, and stressed,” she observes. Sophie advocates for teaching children to be happy, to love and accept themselves, and to navigate the world around them.

disabled and has required round-the-clock care since birth. Claire's parents have been his primary caregivers for over forty years, an enduring testament to their resilience and love. Words of Wisdom in Challenging Times

An Inspirational Journey Claire’s journey as a writer began with a simple yet profound moment in her childhood. She recalls reading "Dick and Jane" and thinking, “I could do that.” This early spark of ambition eventually led to the publication of her first novel, "The Fall," in 2012. Since then, Claire has enjoyed substantial success, with several bestsellers, radio plays, and screenplays to her name. Her literary achievements have recently surpassed one million sales, marking a significant milestone in her career. A Heartfelt Narrative: 'This Could Be Us' Claire’s latest book, "This Could Be Us," delves into the emotional and complex terrain of a family dealing with a child's severe disabilities. The story explores how the family copes, with the mother ultimately leaving to start a new life. This poignant narrative is partially inspired by Claire’s own family experiences, particularly her brother, who is profoundly

The past few years have been difficult for many, and Claire offers words of hope and encouragement. She believes that the lessons and reasons behind tough situations often become apparent only after many years. “It may be that you’re suffering at the moment,” she says, “but life can change so radically in a few years that you don’t know how you will feel then or what setbacks may come to seem like blessings.” Advice for Aspiring Writers For those aspiring to write or achieve their goals, Claire emphasies the importance of nurturing a playful and creative mindset. She advises against overthinking or prematurely deleting one’s work. Instead, she advocates for building daily writing habits and setting achievable goals. Claire herself aims to write 1,000 words a day when working on new projects. If she finds this challenging, she increases the target to 2,000 words to bypass overthinking and get words on the page. This approach, she notes, often yields surprising and productive results. “It’s really important to be aware of your self-talk and behaviours that don’t help.”

“Western society tends not to value things that can’t be monetised, and so lots of people give up on their art, which I think is such a shame.”

Maintaining Consistency and Overcoming Self-Sabotage Consistency in any endeavor can be challenging, and Claire acknowledges the frustration of back-sliding. She recommends tracking progress over time to gain a long-term perspective. For example, Claire has been working on standing up more while she writes. By noting how often she stands up each day, she can see gradual progress, which helps keep her motivated. In writing, she highlights the importance of being aware of self-talk and behaviours that hinder progress, as resistance, self-sabotage, and creative blocks are common obstacles. Mind and Body Practices for Balance Claire does not follow a specific spiritual path but finds solace and balance through various practices such as yoga, breathwork, meditation, and regular retreats. Living in a bustling city like London can be overwhelming, and these practices help Claire maintain her creativity and focus. She values the quiet and perspective these activities provide, allowing her to recharge and stay connected with her inner self.

people are unhappy because their creative sides are not given sufficient expression. Western society’s emphasis on monetisation often leads individuals to abandon their artistic pursuits, which Claire views as a significant loss. She is passionate about helping others break free from these constraints and embrace their creative potential. A Lasting Impact Claire McGowan's journey from a young girl with a dream to a successful author and teacher is a testament to her dedication, resilience, and creative spirit. Her work not only entertains but also inspires and empowers others to explore their creativity. Through her books, teachings, and personal philosophy, Claire continues to make a meaningful impact on the literary world and beyond.

Encouraging Creative Expression

Her latest book, "This Could Be Us," is a moving reflection of personal experiences and broader themes of resilience and hope. As Claire continues to write and teach, she remains a beacon of inspiration for aspiring writers and creatives everywhere. By sharing her journey and insights, she encourages others to persevere, embrace their creativity, and find fulfillment in their artistic endeavors.

Transforming Pain into Power Luka Reedy is a relationship therapist and coach dedicated to helping women recover from toxic relationships and prepare for healthy ones. His work is deeply personal, driven by a tumultuous childhood and a profound desire to see women empowered and fulfilled. A Personal Mission "I help women get over their bad relationships so they can attract an

incredible one," Luka says, summarising his mission succinctly. His work involves more than just advice on dating; it's about preparing women to recognise and embrace healthy, supportive relationships. Luka's path to becoming a relationship therapist was shaped by his upbringing. "I grew up with a father who was a heroin addict, who was mixed up with biker gangs and went to jail for armed robbery, and my stepfather was a violent alcoholic." THE IMPACT FORMULA

Witnessing his mother's struggles profoundly impacted him. "I watched my mum go through hell up until I was 17 years old, which was when I was big enough to be able to get her out safely. I watched my mum lose her power and her sense of self." These early experiences instilled in Luka a deep empathy for women in similar situations. "Every time I work with women, I can’t help but see my mum within them. I know deep down I believe women deserve better." A Vision for a Better Future Luka envisions a world where every woman he works with is in a loving, supportive relationship, and this vision drives his work. "I imagine what would happen if every woman I worked with was in a loving, safe and supportive relationship and that couple decided to raise kids. Those kids would grow up in a loving, safe and supportive environment."

with domestic violence, which led to pretty severe alopecia." He shares three tools that have been particularly transformative for him: 1. Breathwork: "I did a lot of cathartic release breathwork sessions. Holotropic, Rebirthing, and Soma are a few different types. They are tough, and physically demanding but absolutely life-changing." 2. Craniosacral Therapy: "Trauma is stuck in the body and impacts the health of your nervous system. Craniosacral allowed me to let my nervous system finally rest. It had been stuck in fight or flight mode and it was taking a toll on me physically and mentally." 3. Plant Medicine: "Two of the most pivotal moments in my relationship where it was on the edge were saved by plant medicine. I must say this isn’t for the faint-hearted. I tell people to never search for plant medicine, let it find you."

Reflecting on his own childhood, Luka expresses gratitude for his journey despite its challenges. "I can’t say I would change anything from my childhood because it would mean my wife wouldn’t be in my life right now, but if I didn’t have to go through what I did as a child and I watched my Mum and Dad love and support each other, I mean, shit, wouldn’t that be nice."

These tools have allowed Luka to release emotional wounds that were hindering his ability to love fully. "I let go of a lot of my emotional wounds here that were ultimately affecting my ability to receive and give love to my now wife. Let me tell you, we are very happily married now."

Tools for Overcoming Trauma

One of Luka's most cherished projects is the empowerment retreats he and his wife lead in Bali. "Women around the world fly into one of the most beautiful islands in the world - Bali, with one goal in mind,

personal empowerment." These retreats are designed to help women let go of past hurts, embrace their true selves, and cultivate resilience. "It’s one of the most fulfilling things I’ve done. My wife and I lead these retreats and we put everything into them. We are about to run our next retreat in June 2024."

Pride in Personal Growth Reflecting on his life, Luka is proud of the person he has become. "To be the man I am today after the things I went through and the choices I didn’t make, I could have easily been living a very different life. I am proud that I decided to keep going when it didn’t seem to be working. I am proud that I chose to stay and fight instead of running away from my feelings."

Spirituality as a Guiding Force Spirituality plays a significant role in Luka's life and work. "I was raised in a spiritual family. My mother always talked about the universe. She gave me the book 'The Secret' to read when I was 17." Over time, Luka's understanding of spirituality deepened.

"For me now, spirituality is my attitude to life. It’s my faith in the process. It’s surrendering when it doesn’t go to plan, it's seeing others as a reflection of me. It’s about being exactly where you are and knowing that's where you are meant to be."

This spiritual outlook helps Luka navigate life's challenges and appreciate the beauty of the journey. "When you catch a glimpse of that feeling and the synchronicities start to happen - you can’t not live like that. It’s too beautiful." “Spirituality is the essence of life.”

Luka acknowledges the inner battles many people face and the significance of their victories. "I think most of us, in a way, have won a battle within ourselves and haven't acknowledged how significant that win was for them." Adversity as a Superpower Luka sees his adversity as his superpower. "It’s given me an understanding of how life can be for most people. it’s given me purpose and passion for my work. I can relate to a lot of people who have gone through hard shit and I can help them get through it." Through his personal experiences and professional expertise, Luka offers a powerful message of hope and resilience. "There is power in pain and healing is the bridge between them both." In sharing his story and dedicating his life to helping others, Luka exemplifies how one can transform personal pain into a source of strength and empowerment for themselves and others.
