HOLLY GORDON Executive Director & Executive Producer, Girl Rising

Holly Gordon is Executive Director of Girl Rising: Educate Girls, Change the World, a global movement for girls’ education. As Executive Director, Holly sets strategy and leads the campaign. She is also an Executive Producer for the film of same name, at the center of the movement, Girl Rising. Holly was selected by Fast Company as a member of the League of Extraordinary Women in 2013 and named by Newsweek/Daily Beast as one of 125 Women of Impact in 2013. Forbes Magazine named the Girl Rising movement the #1 Most Dynamic Social Initiative of 2012. Prior to launching the campaign, Holly Gordon was Director of Content for the Tribeca Film Festival. She came to Tribeca from ABC News, where she worked for 12 years as a producer and booker for the major news broadcasts. While at ABC News, Holly was selected for special coverage teams on high-profile stories, including President Clinton’s impeachment, the trial of Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, the shootings at Columbine, and the Albanian refugee crisis in Kosovo. She was an integral part of ABC’s breaking-news coverage during the weeks following the September 11th attacks. For three years, as Editorial Producetr for the ABC news magazine unit, Holly managed the team responsible for identifying and booking national and international, competitive, long-form stories. Holly graduated from Brown University, with a B.A. in International Relations.


NISHIMA CHUDASAMA Associate Producer & Production Manager Nishima Chudasama brings a wide variety of experiences to the Girl Rising team, including her previous work in international development, theater and media production. Deeply committed to transmedia storytelling and its power to shift perspectives and motivate action, Nishima is honored to be part of Girl Rising. Recently, she produced “Jessica’s Story,” directed by Libby Spears, for Chime For Change, an initiative by Gucci that promotes education, health and justice for girls and women around the world. Nishima graduated from Emory University and has a masters degree from SOAS, University of London.


JUSTIN REEVES Director of NGO Partnerships

Justin has six years of experience working in South America as an anthropologist, teacher and in development with various non-profit organizations benefitting girls and women. He was awarded an Ambassadorial Scholarship by Rotary International which allowed him to pursue his Master’s degree in journalism and a post-graduate program in documentary screenplay writing in Santiago, Chile at La Universidad Católica de Chile. While in Chile, Justin focused his non-profit work on women and children living with HIV/AIDS and his production work on women marginalized by mental illness. Justin moved to New York City in 2010 where he joined forces with Girl Rising, confident knowing that empowering and educating girls and women is the key to a more harmonious world. He enjoys educating audiences about the importance of educating girls and has presented at: TEDxUnisinos, Social Media Week NYC, Google Latin American Leadership Conference. Justin is hopeful that his lead will inspire other men and women to invest in girls.


TARA ABRAHAMS Deputy Director

Prior to joining the Girl Rising team, Tara served as director of the Maverick Capital Foundation, a philanthropy focused on education in New York City. Tara began her career in the nonprofit sector as the founding New York director of Health Leads, an organization that mobilizes undergraduate volunteers to improve the health of low-income children and families. Tara has served as a consultant for The Bridgespan Group, a nonprofit strategy consulting firm, and as a managing director at Acelero Learning, a company that works with Head Start programs to improve early childhood education for low-income children. Tara graduated from Harvard College and completed her MBA at the Harvard Business School. She lives in New York City with her husband and daughter.

She is currently the creative director of Girl Rising, the global action campaign in support of girls education. She is also producing Girl Rising, a feature-length film at the center of the campaign, directed by Oscar nominated director Richard Robbins and executive produced by The Documentary Group’s founder Tom Yellin.
