Flowing with my thoughts - Geeta Ramanujam March 21st was World Storytelling Day and I had the opportunity to present Tenalirama’s story on “The three Listening Dolls” at Greece. Greece has beautiful museums and old houses which are now offered for performances and exhibitions. The next day I also had a performance at the “Museum of folk art” .The museum was nestled in a beautiful and natural surroundings in Athens. It was nostalgic for me to be performing at Greece since it was like revisiting the legendry characters from the Greek myths- Athena, Zeus, Poseidon and Spartacus. I had the opportunity to stay on the Hippocrates street behind the Acropolis. My hour long storytelling performance was at the “Aggeliki Chatzimichli’s folk art and traditional museum founded in 1980. It was the house of Aggeliki and her family since 1924 and the first Greek folklore museum founded by her. Aggeliki dedicated her life in long term field researches wishing to support the power and the value of traditional folk culture, and also in material life of people who lived in Greece. It was interesting to just watch the gestures and sounds of people narrating both in Greek and Turkish in Istanbul. The Workshop helped me to learn about people on the other side of the globe and to understand their patience specially in the Trade markets and areas surrounding business centres. Every experience is learning about new life, new cultures and yet basically being the same when it involves emotions. As I climbed the Acropolis I remembered our own celebration of 20 years this year. How should we celebrate the 100 batches of the alumni and so on... Will revert to you all soon about our story celebrations...... Contact:
