Marquette University PRSSA Chapter Launches Student-Run Public Relations Firm

MILWAUKEE (Apr. 5, 2011) — Marquette University’s PRSSA Chapter announced the successful launch of its student-run firm, GoldinPR, with eight employees. Co-founders and firm directors Alexis Dremonas and Kate Newman first learned how to create a student-run firm at the PRSSA 2010 National Conference in Washington D.C. They were inspired to co-find a student-run public relations firm for their Chapter. Next, Dremonas and Newman began drafting goals, business plans and client outreach materials to launch the firm by the spring semester. “We saw an opportunity for an active PR firm on Marquette’s campus,” Newman said. “Our initial vision was to provide an outlet for our Chapter members to gain hands-on agency experience while working with their peers. We were quickly astounded with positive feedback from Marquette student organizations hoping to utilize our services.” Just two weeks after its launch, GoldinPR accumulated six clients – including a not-for-profit venture run by a Marquette graduate student. By March, GoldinPR had increased its staff by 45 percent – including a creative director, secretary and third team, “The Eagles,” comprised of one Account Executive and two Assistant Account Executives. Currently, GoldinPR offers a portfolio featuring 11 clients including an additional nonprofit, Yell & Tell.

In the future, the GoldinPR members hope to expand their services to the greater Milwaukee community and become a PRSSA Nationally Affiliated firm. ### About GoldinPR GoldinPR provides an outlet for Marquette PRSSA chapter members to gain hands on experience in the field of public relations while working amongst their peers, facilitating client efforts and learning useful methods to flourish in their future endeavors.
