WELLNESS GET STARTED PROGRAM

Our Get Started Program is a series of three complimentary appointments designed to support you in pursuit of your health and wellness goals. A wellness coach will meet with you to discuss your needs and interests and together you will develop an achievable plan for success. Whether you are new to exercise, have dabbled in it your whole life, or are comfortable in your regular program, we will help you make the most of your Y membership! Ask at our welcome or wellness center to GET STARTED today!

DIABETES PREVENTION

This 12 month program helps overweight adults at risk for type 2 diabetes reduce their risk for developing the disease by taking steps to improve overall health and well-being. Participants work together in a small group facilitated by a trained Y lifestyle coach to achieve the program goals of reducing individual weight by 7% and building up to 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week for the purpose of reducing their risk for developing diabetes. YOUTH HIP HOP DANCE CLUB • Ages 7-17 Hip Hop for all. Whether you are an aspiring dancer or just love to move this 2 day a week program will introduce students to the fundamentals of Hip-Hop dance. Students will learn basic dance moves, musicality and choreography. Tuesday’s class will focus on skills and, drills while Thursday’s class will give opportunities to build those skills into their own creative choreography. Hip Hop dance club is a performance troupe co-taught by two instructors ensuring that students of all dance levels can participate. No previous dance experience is necessary. YOUTH FITNESS PROGRAM Ages 8-13

Join one of our Personal Trainers during this four week program introducing health & fitness! During this program, youth will learn how to safely use our equipment in the Wellness Center. CHILD WATCH This service is designed to accomodate children 3 months to 7 years for 1-2 hours while parents use our facility. BALLET • Ages 5-8 Students will learn proper technique, terminology, and basic ballet steps in a structured but fun, age appropriate class to teach little ones grace, poise and confidence. Tuesdays: 4:45pm - 5:30pm Members: $54 | Program Participants: $83

BASKETBALL SKILLS CLASS This co-ed skills program focuses on basketball skills and emphasizes proper execution in game situations. Participants will improve ball skills like dribbling, passing and shooting, but will also learn court dynamics such as defensive movements and team work and confidence on the court. PARKINSON’S RECOVERY WELLNESS TRAINING

Stay stronger together. SWIM LESSON SELECTOR STAGE A WATER DISCOVERY Stage A introduces infants and todlers to the aquatic environment.

STAGE B WATER EXPLORATION In Stage B, parents work with their children to learn fundmental safety and aquatic skills.

STAGE 1 WATER ACCLIMATION Students develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit the pool.

STAGE 2 WATER MOVEMENT Students focus on body position and control, directional change, and forward movement in the water.

STAGE 3 WATER STAMINA Students learn how to swim to safely from a longer distance. Rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg actions are introduced.

STAGE 4 STROKE INTRODUCTION Students develop stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and learn the breaststroke kick and butterfly kick.

STAGE 5 STROKE DEVELOPMENT Students work on stroke technique in all major competitive strokes.

STAGE 6 STROKE MECHANICS Students refine stroke tecnique in all major competitive strokes, learn about competitive swimming, and discover how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle.

YOUTH WELLNESS ORIENTATION Ages 8-13

Youth members who would like to use the strength and cardio equiptment need to make an appointment for an orientation with the Health & Wellness staff. The orientation will teach youth members how to safely and efficiently use the equiptment, and instruct them about general Wellness Center rules and etiquette. More than one appointment may be necessary depending on the youth member’s needs and understanding. Once training is completed, an access pass will be given. YMCA DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM This 12 month program helps overweight adults at risk for type 2 diabetes reduce their risk for developing the disease by taking steps to improve overall health and well-being. Participants work together in a small group facilitated by a trained Y lifestyle coach to achieve the program goals of reducing individual weight by 7% and building up to 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week for the purpose of reducing their risk for developing diabetes. FALL 2 DANCE

Stoico/FIRSTFED YMCA The dance program is a 10 month progressive program, ending with a recital performance in June. We provide a quality dance education at an affordable rate, concentrating on technique & performance. MUSIC MEDELY • Ages 18 months - 2 years Introduction to motor & social skills needed for dance & tumbling. Great for boys & girls. Introduction to the basic concepts of rhythm & movement using creative games. CREATIVE MOVEMENT • Ages 3-4 years Introduction to motor & social skills needed for dance & tumbling. Introduction to the basic concepts of rhythm, spatial awareness & movement using creative games as well as teaching basic ballet movements. COMBO II /Ballet & Tap • Ages Pre-K & Kindergarten Introduction to motor & social skills needed for dance. Introduction to the basic concepts of rhythm, spatial awareness & movement using creative games as well as teaching ballet and tap steps.

BALLET / LYRICAL • Ages 3rd Grade & Up Ballet is the foundation of all dance. Developing strong, classical technique will help dancers build & become solid dancers in whichever form they prefer. Children will improve balance, grace, strength & flexibility, learn terminology & focus on lyrical movements. COMPANY CLASSES • Ages 3rd - 5th Graders These classes require director approval & are invite only. Students will perform at community events & competitions during the dance season. JAZZ • Ages 3rd - 5th Graders A fun upbeat class. Improve flexibility, balance & coordination. Dancers will learn turns, leaps, kicks & Jazz steps while developing their rhythm. TAP • Ages 3rd - 5th Graders A fun upbeat class. Improve flexibility, balance & coordination. Dancers will learn turns, leaps, kicks & steps while developing their rhythm.
