Elan Valley Tour, Wales Friday 18 April

First we visit Ely a thriving yet peaceful historic city, filled with beautiful Georgian buildings and a delightful riverside area. The towers of the magnificent Cathedral, one of the finest in England, can be seen for miles around and are a constant reminder of the rich history of the fens. In the afternoon we head to Cambridge a beautiful, historic city famous for its University with a wealth of things to see and do including delightful tea rooms and bookshops.

Depart 8.00am and arrive 11.00am approx. Depart 4.30pm and return by 7.00pm approx.

Through the pastoral scenery of the Worcestershire and Shropshire countryside, we reach the Welsh border, travelling through Rhyader to reach the Elan Valley Visitor Centre. Created to provide water for the people of Birmingham, the reservoirs of the Elan Valley are outstandingly beautiful. There is time for lunch (cost not included) and a visit to the Centre before driving around the reservoirs, following the River Severn to Newtown and then home.

Bakewell & Matlock, Derbyshire Monday 21 April NEW We travel through wonderful Derbyshire Dales scenery before visiting the bustling weekly market in the quaint Derbyshire town of Bakewell. In the afternoon we visit Matlock a former spa town lying alongside the river Derwent, we also make a short stop at Masson Mills a unique shopping experience with sixty different retail concepts all under one roof.

Greenwich is famous throughout the world and there is plenty to explore. This World Heritage Site is home to the National Maritime Museum, The Royal Observatory – home of Greenwich Mean Time and the Queen’s House. Admissions to all three is FREE!! Perhaps visit the Cutty Sark a true national icon of British maritime history and the last surviving tea clipper of her time (admissions are not included)

A visit to Bournemouth to enjoy the many attractions this popular seaside resort has to offer including a variety of shops and restaurants and award winning parks and gardens. In the afternoon we head to Sandbanks to cross on the chain ferry to the attractive resort of Swanage the gem of Dorset’s Purbeck Coast, with its impressive beach and a flat promenade.

A market town famous for the ‘Crooked Spire’ of its Parish Church. Visit the Victorian market hall which stands in the centre of the old market or the Shambles with its narrow streets of shops and tearooms. The town’s museum and art gallery tells the ‘story of Chesterfield’ and explains how the town has become the place it is today.


We visit the lakeside resort of Bownesson-Windermere the ‘heart’ of the Lake District, a holiday town with many shops and cafes with plenty to see and do. Relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the town’s delightful setting or perhaps enjoy a cruise around Windermere with magnificent views of mountain scenery and secluded bays and many wooded islands. Directions: Our premises are situated one mile north of Henley, on the A3400, travelling towards Birmingham. Upon arrival, enter via the ‘Entrance’ gateway and follow the signs for ‘Express Parking’. For passengers being dropped off and collected later there is ample space. The post code for satnav users is B95 5QS. Travel in Comfort. All coaches used will be from our top class touring fleet, equipped with air conditioning, reclining seats and toilet. No Smoking Enjoy a great atmosphere! Booking Conditions Confirmation of booking We require payment in full within 7 days of booking. We will then send you a confirmation/receipt which is also your ticket for the excursion. If payment is not received within this time, your booking will be cancelled. (Online bookers can print off their confirmation). Methods of payment Cash, cheque, debit and credit cards are acceptable. Please make cheques payable to: ‘Johnsons Coach Travel’. Please note that there is a 2% charge for payments made by credit card. Reductions There are no reductions for Senior Citizens or Children on Express Excursions. Cancellation (a) By the company If, due to less than 20 bookings, we are forced to cancel any excursion, we reserve the right to do so up to 2 working days prior to departure. All monies paid by passengers will be refunded and following that, we shall be exempt from further liability. (b) By the passenger You may cancel your booking at any time, subject to these conditions: (i) With more than 2 working days prior to departure you will receive a refund of £5.00 per person. (ii) With less than 2 working days notice, the £18 per person fare is non-refundable. Alterations The company reserves the right to alter or cancel any excursion listed in this brochure, or to change the size and specification of vehicle used. On occasions it may be necessary to allocate a vehicle with a larger seating capacity. When this occurs please be adviced that seat numbers may change. A World Heritage city built by the Romans 2,000 years ago, Bath is beautiful, elegant and full of spectacular architecture and world class attractions. There are many ways to enjoy your day, explore the Royal Crescent, Pulteney Bridge, the Roman Baths and the magnificent Abbey or perhaps a visit to the Jane Austen Centre which offers a glimpse of life during Regency times (admissions are not included).

Portsmouth has a wealth of visitor attractions to enjoy but is forever famous for the battle of the waves. There are many reminders of the rise of the Royal Navy and you will have free time to visit the Historic Dockyard, home of the new Mary Rose Museum and HMS Victory, the Spinnaker Tower for magnificent views and perhaps Gunwharf Quays, with its many shopping outlets. Capital of the North, a bustling metropolis with fabulous shops. Choose from the Arndale centre, one of the largest indoor shopping centres in the UK which contains practically every high street store you could hope to find or visit Kings Street home to unique brands and specialist boutiques. The city offers endless eateries to enjoy with plenty of choice.

Dating back to Roman times, Chester has much to explore and the city retains its atmospheric main streets. It offers buildings of every era perhaps visit the lovely 1000 year old Cathedral and take time to stroll around and explore the city walls. See the ornate Eastgate Clock before visiting the Medieval, twotiered ‘Rows’ shopping galleries or the Grosvenor Shopping Centre.

Stamford on Market Day Friday 21 February

We visit Southampton with its unique galleries and museums, perhaps visit the SeaCity Museum which tells the story of the people of the city with their connections to the Titanic or visit one of the indoor shopping centres. In the afternoon we head to Winchester for a chance to discover the treasures of this beautiful city, once the capital of England, with its magnificent Norman cathedral. Here you can stroll and soak up the historic atmosphere of a host of medieval attractions.

Cheltenham Spa is England’s most complete Regency town and its streets are lined with Regency town houses, characterised by ironwork balconies and painted stucco facades, a historic promenade, squares and terraces. There is an impressive range of stylish shops and restaurants and links to music and literature.

Our dropping off point is close to Tower Bridge, giving you access to the Tower of London, home to the dazzling Crown Jewels, the Iconic landmark building The Shard which is the highest building in Western Europe, the Tower Bridge Experience, HMS Belfast and the London Dungeon. Take your pick of these fabulous attractions. (admissions are not included)

Historic Stamford, situated on the River Welland in the county of Lincolnshire, is a beautiful market town described as ‘the finest stone town in England’, with over 600 listed buildings. The town retains its medieval street pattern and gallows still stretch across the High Street as a reminder of the town’s past during the era of the stagecoach and highwaymen! A busy traditional market is held every Friday.

You will be set down at a central point convenient for some of London’s top museums, visit the Natural History museum for amazing artefacts, learn something new at the Science Museum or discover art and design at the Victoria and Albert Museum. There is so much to see! Entrance to these museums is FREE (there may be additional charges for special exhibits).

Friday 3 January

Monday 14 April The beautiful medieval city of York has 2000 years of history in one compact city. There are some great attractions including the magnificent York Minster, the Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum. Visit the shops as you meander through the twisting streets such as the shambles or wander the city walls. The city has something for everybody the choice is yours! (admissions are not included)

Tuesday 15 April Liverpool is most famous for its shipping history, perhaps take a cruise on the river Mersey or why not visit one of the many museums. The Albert Dock area offers an interesting array of waterfront shops and cafes together with many reminders of its past. The Tate Gallery, Maritime Museum and the ‘Beatles Story’, a shrine to the legendary pop group, are all found here. (admissions are not included)

Abergavenny, known as the gateway to Wales is a picturesque town steeped in history and bathing in the beauty of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Full of culture and tradition there is much to look at and explore. The Tuesday market is well known as one of the major markets in Wales selling a huge range of goods from clothing and antiques to local produce.

One of the finest Tudor towns in England, Shrewsbury is situated on the River Severn and has many narrow streets and black and white, half-timbered houses. There is much of interest in the town including magnificent Quarry Park, a beautiful sunken garden landscaped with alpine borders.
