‘Design begins with curiosity, seeking beauty "Good design doesn't date" within the eye of the beholder.’’

- Harry Seidler

From a young age I have always been captivated by the colour and texture of beautiful things. Growing up in Melbourne, my mother taught me to sew at age 7 and from there my creativity ignited. A degree in fashion design and working abroad as a clothing designer was the dream beginnings of a design career. Later working across visual merchandising and property styling, a strategic transition was growing into the wonderful world of interiors!

An illustrated album of hotel attendees from 1890 was gifted to Lord Carrington upon his departure to England. Inspired by the historical craftsmanship & timelessness a concept was formed: NOSTALGIA.

Original stained glass windows grace the hotel entrance on arrival and form the colour palette of the space. Guests are met with rich burnt oranges, moss green and dark timbers. A quirky checkerboard floor grounds the eclectic mix of antique and contemporary furniture. Two original 19th century tapestries complete the look with a nod to it’s humble beginnings.

Inspired by dark, moody purples, the colour of royalty seemed fitting to the grandeur of the Carrington dining hall. A visual pink runway leads the eye to a bold pink cocktail bar at centre back. Distressed velvets, fluting and aged brass detailing feature throughout the space for a dining experience not easily forgotten.

george st. A flagship Ligne Roset showroom is opening in a converted warehouse in Redfern. The brief was to design the foyer and waiting area of the main showroom. Inspired by femininity, the industrial interior is softened by a simple colour palette focused on texture and materiality. A feature ‘floating’ fabric sculpture takes precedent and is juxtaposed against the raw brick and concrete.

BRIEF: To design a trade exhibition stand for the ‘Fold Chair’ by Industrial designer Olivier Gregoire. Design to be based on chosen concept of chair and translated into a spatial design for chair display.

The exhibition stand enhances the chairs original fashion beginnings with a soft feminine touch. A monochromatic pallette features a juxtaposition of hard, shiny perspex with soft, matte felt. Nestled between the folds and curves of fabric, a continuous piece of material is woven up and away, almost out of sight. An intriguing combination that leaves the visitor to ‘find’ the chair.
