 KARTELL OPENS ITS FIRST SINGLE BRAND FLAGSHIP STORE IN CAPE TOWN THE CITY WILL BE WORLD DESIGN CAPITAL IN 2014 2

a
new
opening
when
last

February
it
inaugurated
its
first
single
 brand
flagship
store
in
Cape
Town,
South
Africa,
which
will
be
World
Design
Capital
in
2014.
 Located
in
the
design
district
of
De
Waterkant
in
the
courtyard
of
the
Hudson
Building,
one
 of
the
most
presMgious
buildings
in
the
city
and
home
to
several
architectural
firms
and
the
 city's
famous
coffee
bar,
Origin,
the
new
Kartell
showroom
was
opened
in
collaboraMon
with
 A+I
Unlimited
Design,
its
exclusive
partner
for
South
Africa.
This
partnership
will
lead
to
the
 opening
 of
 at
 least
 five
 new
 sales
 points
 over
 the
 next
 three
 years
 in
 addiMon
 to
 the
 development
of
a
strong
demand
for
Kartell
products
in
the
contract
sector.

the
occasion
of
the
annual
date
with
the
Stockholm
Furniture
and
Light
Fair,
one
of
the
world’s
largest
and
 most
interesMng
meeMng
places
for
Nordic
design,
Kartell
returned
to
the
Swedish
capital
with
a
special
event
in
 its
flagship
store
at
6
Ingmar
Bergmans
Gata.
The
guest
of
honour
was
Ferruccio
Laviani
and
his
latest
creaMon
 for
Kartell:
the
exoMc
and
arMsMc
TAJ
table
lamp.
Taking
its
inspiraMon
from
the
shape
of
an
elephant's
tusk,
TAJ
is
 more
than
a
lamp.
It
is
a
three‐dimensional
sign,
a
sculpture
of
light.
Spectacular
both
either
on
or
off,
Taj
uses
 LED
technology
to
opMmise
and
minimise
the
light
source
and
at
the
same
Mme
marks
a
new
step
along
Kartell's
 challenging
technological
way
to
produce
an
object
from
this
unique
know‐how.

 sold
 today.
 This
 new
 model
 which
 expands
 the
 collecMon
 of
 shoes
 made
 of
 non‐toxic
 and
 100%
 recyclable
 plasMc
is
an
open‐toed
pla`orm
sandal
characterised
by
a
fillet
 over
 the
 toe
 picking
 up
 the
 iconic
 bow
 moMf,
 an
 adjustable
 ankle
 strap
 and
 the
 ironic
 message
 "Chi
 mi
 ama
 mi
 segua"
 printed
on
the
inner
sole.


AWARDS
 WALLPAPER DESIGN AWARDS 2012 NENDO: DESIGNER OF THE YEAR Nendo,
the
Japanese
studio
established
by
the
thirty
one
year
old
 Oki
Sato,
won
the
prize
for
Designer
of
the
Year
awarded
by
the
 Wallpaper
 magazine.
 The
 presMgious
 prize
 of
 the
 English
 magazine,
Wallpaper,
is
awarded
each
year
to
the
best
products
 in
 the
 world
 of
 design,
 architecture,
 industrial
 producMon
 and
 fashion.
 The
 Nendo
 studio
 is
 well‐known
 for
 its
 versaMle
 and
 brilliant
creaMvity
while
never
losing
sight
of
the
funcMonality
and
 pracMcality
 of
 the
 design,
 as
 demonstrated
 by
 the
 Sundial
 bookcase
designed
for
Kartell.

 Restaurant
 in
 Saragoza
 in
 Spain
 located
 inside
 the
 "paraninfo
 de
 la
 Universidad
 de
 Zaragoza",
 the
 former
 premises
 of
 the
 Faculty
of
Medicine,
has
chosen
the
chair
designed
by
Philippe
 Starck
 for
 its
 table
 seaMng.
 This
 contract
 was
 done
 by
 Soho,
 Kartell's
shop‐in‐shop
in
the
city.
