The six theories sat in silence, staring at Web 2.0 and the eighth grade students of Castleton Village. Work together? Whoever heard of such a thing? Would, could it be possible? Could the all of the students of all of the regions of the kingdom be served in the best way possible with a little bit of this and a little bit of that? The students. The future. What was best for the kids. One by one, the literacy theories got up and plugged into Web 2.0. The eighth graders of Castleton Village smiled. They’d already done a biography project using books, the internet, note-taking skills, writing, flip cams and video software, microphones and audio software, creation and design of costumes and props, in addition to research skills. At the moment, they were reading a novel, just like any other year, but this time, they were using a class wiki for their responses to text and collaboration. This all was very cool, made communication so much more fun. Now that there was a truce among the theories, maybe they could start hoping for new technology to enter the Castleton Village like digital cameras, learning more about their cell phones and ipods, building web pages, designing their own graphics, recording their own music, and doing a lot more in other classes on the SmartBoard. Once all of the literacy theories were plugged into Web 2.0, they could see what was possible and what the eighth graders of Castleton Village had already done. Wow. They really could work together. This might be amazing. Together, all at once, literacy smiled, and they lived happily ever after.
