KARONIA SOLID SURFACE KARONIA solid surface is the material component of our worktop brands, such as MISTRAL, as well as any project-specific solid surface solutions that we supply. Composition Our solid surface material is composed of an enhanced acrylic resin combined with the natural mineral filler, aluminium trihydroxide (ATH). The ratio of these components is approximately 1/3 resin to 2/3 ATH. For more information please consult our Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

Production KARONIA solid surface is manufactured to standard sizes for our worktop ranges and large-scale bespoke projects through a mould casting process. Our continuous casting lines are also utilised where there is a requirement for substantial quantities.

Application KARONIA solid surface worktops are ideal for a variety of uses such as kitchens, bathrooms, laboratories and commercial environments.





PRACTICAL BENEFITS: Karonia solid surface material is highly adaptable giving designers, fabricators and installers great flexibility in how they utilise it on any given project. No matter how this is done, specifiers and end users can be assured that the inherent benefits of the finished worktop make it an extremely practical surface to live with and use.

Strength and Durability Our solid surface products are strong and durable and will cope well with the rigours of day-to-day use in all recommended applications. Where sharp instruments such as knives are used, we recommend that a worktop protector or chopping board is used to avoid cutting directly on the surface. For high traffic areas, we recommend the use of a lighter colour as darker colours may show general wear more readily than other colours and therefore require more care.

Food Safety and Hygiene The surface of our products is smooth and non-porous so it is inherently hygienic. It is resistant to staining without needing to be sealed, unlike some other materials. In addition to this, seamless jointing ensures that there is nowhere for bacteria to harbour. The result is a continuous surface that is not only very hygienic, but also food safe. In all cases, we recommend that spills be simply wiped clean with a cloth and soapy water, or with the assistance of a general household cleaner for more stubborn substances.

Heat Resistance and Fire Safety Our products have been developed to offer high levels of fire safety and have the ability to cope well with heat. They are tested for high temperature resistance at 180°C and passed showing no effect to the surface. These test results should be seen as a reassurance that, in the case of accidental contact, the surface will not be damaged. For the purpose of good practice we recommend the use of heat pads,

surface protectors or trivets and not place hot pans directly onto the surface. This is the same for all solid surface material.

Chemical Resistance The composition of our enhanced acrylic solid surface material gives our products an inherent resistance to many chemicals. This includes the majority of those found in the home and many used in educational and research laboratories. More aggressive chemical products, such as oven and drain cleaners, should not be allowed to come in contact with the surface.

Replenishable and Repairable Unlike most other worktop materials our solid surface can be sanded. This means it can be refinished at any time during its life to remove general wear and tear marks that may have accumulated, leaving it looking as good as new. In cases of accidental damage or abuse, the surface can also be repaired utilising a piece of spare material to replace the affected area.

10 Year Field-Tested Warranty Our products’ beautiful appearance and valuable physical qualities are backed up by our field-tested 10 year manufacturer’s warranty. They have been installed, tested and proven in a variety of tough commercial applications before being utilised in the residential sector as well. Our warranty covers any manufacturing defects but does not cover any fabrication, installation, care and maintenance related issues or instances of misuse.

Chemical Resistance Testing In all tests the substance was left for a period of 24 hours before being washed off by a stream of water. It was then allowed to dry and the observations were then made. The following chemicals had no effect that could not be removed with our standard product care process: • Concentrated Sulphuric Acid
