MASTERPLAN

RCR is a large scale mixed use development which will provide a powerful stimulus to the local economy of EscazĂş, Costa Rica. Funded by private sector investment it will aim to attract not only those from the local area but from the whole of Costa Rica. The first step of the process involved a detailed analysis of the city of EscazĂş. This allowed the development area to be identified, provided an

understanding of the growth trends as well as identifying the role played by Escazu in the wider region. A parallel analysis was made in a bigger scale for Costa Rica, in order to identify the growth trends, market demand and offer To further strengthen the project, an environmental analysis was carried out to help integrate the site into its surroundings and take advantage of the site´s location.

The RCR mixed use development offers significant office space, commercial premises and high end residential units. The main objectives of the project are: • An exclusive market that brings international products to the community. • Create a vibrant urban centre for Escazu • Provide a 24 hour destination • Offer high quality housing • Promote a green lifestyle and community • Stimulate the economic growth of Ezcasu

PARADYGM

CREDITS: DA AM Diseño Arquitectónico Project Management and leadership 160 sqm An office space in big cities can become very difficult to find, more important for entrepreneurs or start ups, where income comes later in the process. Paradygm project was designed as a coworking space to help entrepreneurs get the same or even better amenities than big corporate offices. Through design, Paradygm aims to become an affordable solution to a private office, while offering perks that private offices don’t, offering a working space designed for a group of people focused in relatively similar areas, but at the same time providing them with the flexibility of working space and protagonism for each one of them.

THE EYES OF THE WORLD

CREDITS: Cadaval & Sola-Morales Collaboration/Internship

design An artistic representation of the work of 2 NGOs – Ulls del Món and Reporters Without Borders – through photographic images. The main objective was to create a single exhibition space that would be able to generate two very distinct spatial conditions in the same exhibition room (within days of one closing the other would open, each lasting for approximately three months). As well as this, it was essential to create an iconic style, which would add value to the material presented in both bodies of work. The proposal was to generate spatial quality by using a self-supporting exhibition stand – crossed fabrics displaying high definition images. This would generate a space in which the curatorial discourse could take place, encouraging differentiated and intimate movement around the display. The contrast between these areas (one a central object, the other an envelope), produces a great spatial impact although only simple materials and construction methods are used – stretch fabrics mounted on a bar system which can be placed singularly or as a combined object according to the requirements of the exhibition.
