PROCESS

THE DESIGNER IS INITIATING THE DESIGNING PRODESS BY IMPLEMENTING FUNDAMENTAL PROGRAMMING FOR EACH GIVEN PROJECT TASK. IN THIS CASE, THE TASK WAS TO PRESENT TO THE IN-HOUSE DESIGN TEAM OF TAMPA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT A MOBILE KIOSK FOR TRAVELORS AND VISITORS OF THIS AIRPORT. BY INSPECTING THE SITE LOCATION, THE DESIGNER MAKES VIGOROUS NOTES ABOUT THE CLIENTS OBJECTIVES FOR AND AROUND THE FUNCTION OF T WO RETAIL KIOSK STANDS. THE KIOSK IS TO PROVIDE FOR THE TRAVELING CUSTOMER TO HAVE EASY ACCESS TO “ fas t on t he go” T YPES OF MERCHANDISE FOR SHORT - AND LOND DISTANCE JOURNEYS, THAT BE MAGAZINES, EARPLUGS, SOUVENIRS, BEAUT Y PRODUCTS, HAIR PRODUCTS, POCKET BOOKS, ELECTRONICS ETC, ETC. UPON THE DISCOVERY PHASE, ON SITE TOUR WITH TAMPA AIRPORT PROJECT MANAGER, I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WANTED T WO EQUAL KIOSKS THAT WOULD STAND OUT FROM THE AIRPORTS CRISP, WHITE AND MINIMALISTIC BACKDROP. THE AIRPORTS EXISTING STRUCTURES CONSISTS OF HIGH GLOSS FLOORING WITH INDUSTRIAL GRADE ANTI-SLIP CARPET CONNECTED TO SEATING AREA. CLEAR BACKLIT CONTRAST SIGNAGES THROUGHOUT THE SPACE GIVES EASY WAYFINDING IN THE L ARGELY OPEN INTERIOR L ANDSCAPE. DESIGNER DELIBERATELY MADE USE OF THE WHITE, NEUTRAL EXISTING WALL AND FLOOR COLOR TO CREATE A KIOSK WITH BOLD COLORS MIXED WITH ALUMINUM SHEETS WITH SEMI-GLOSS FINISH INTERFUSED WITH BACKLIT COLORED TRANSLUSCENT PLEXI GL ASS. THIS GIVES SERVICE POINT IMMEDIATE AT TENTION IN THE WAY IT STICKS-OUT IN ITS INDUSTRIAL LOOK AND RADIAL ORIENTATION. AS I INVESTIGATED THE POSSIBLE DESIGN L AY-OUT I ENDED AT A RADIAL ORIENTATION FOR THE INTERIOR SPACE WITH AERO DYNAMIC INSPIRATONS OF SMOOTH LINES AND ALMOST SEAMLESS DISPL AYS.

THE TRAVELER CAN EFFORTLESSLY CONNECT WITH BOTH THE SERVICE PERSONELL AND THE VARIOUS ARTICLES ON THE STAND, AND “Grab and Go” HIS OR HER PRODUCTS WITHOUT ANY PHYSICAL OBSTRUCTIONS. THE 360 DESIGN PL AT TFORM INVITES CUSTOMERS TO MAKE THEIR SELECTIONS AND PAYMENTS AT EVERY ANGLE OF THIS STRUCTURE THAT SURELY IS PERCEIVED AS A POSIT VE CONTRIBUTION TO SAVING TIME ON THE WAY TO THE TRAVELERS DEPARTING FLIGHT. DISPL AY STANDS WHERE DESIGNED TO COMPLIMENT THE KIOSK BY PL ACIN THEM FREESTANDING ON SURROUNDING FLOOR SPACE, AND ARE ALSO INCORPORATED IN ANOTHER RETAIL STORE AT THE AIRPORT DESIGNED BY K ARINA K ALLSTROM. ALL DISPL AY ELEMENTS ARE THOUGHTFULLY PL ANNED FOR THAT PARTICUL AR DESIGN PROJECT AT HAND AND THIS REQUIRES FOR THE DESIGNER TO REINVENT THESE COMPONENTS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. THIS SUGGESTS THAT THE DESIGNER MUST INHABIT A REALISTIC SENSE OF INNOVATION AND CREATIVE LEADERSKIP MESHED WITH THE ABILIT Y TO SUCCESSFULLY VISUALIZE THE SET OF IDEAS IN 3D IMAGERY AND COMMUNICATING THESE VERBALLY.

3

KAKA DESIGN & PROJECT 2007-2012 kakaproject@gmail.com

THE WAY THAT THE DISPL AY IS MEANT TO SERVICE THE END USER IS CAREFULLY THOUGHT OUT IN THE FULL USE OF THE RADIAL DESIGN THAT ALLOWS FOR A TOTAL OF A 360 DEGREE PL AT TFORM FOR THE MERCHANDISE TO BE DISPL AYED AT SERVERAL HIGHTS.

A RECREATIONAL VEHICLE IN THE UNITED STATES IS TO MANY OF ITS USER LIKE A SECOND HOME. THE INVESTMENT MADE IN SUCH A VEHICLE BY THE OWNER CAN SURPASS ANY EXPECTATIONS BY FAR IN REGARDS TO FINISHES, APPLICATIONS AND TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT INSTALLED. IN THIS PARTICUL AR TASK, THE CLIENT PROPOSAL WAS MADE TO A YOUNG, SINGING ARTIST THAT NEEDED A TOURBUS. STARTING WITH THE L AYOUT OF THE BUS, OR “RV” MOSTLY CALLED IN THE CAMPING INDUSTRY,

AS YOU FOLLOW THE PL AN DRAWING DOWN YOU WILL BE IN THE LIVING/KITCHEN AREA AS SEEN IN THE 3D IMAGE ABOVE TEXT, THAT LEADS YOU TO THE MID SECTION OF THE RV THAT HAS BUILDT-IN REFRIGERATOR AND DRYER/WASHER APPLIANCES IN CONJUNCTION WITH SMALL TOILET AND OFFICE WORK DESK ACROSS THE HALLWAY. AS ONE WOULD MOVE FURTHER DOWN, TOWARDS THE BACK OF THE BUS IN THIS PL AN DRAWING, THERE IS A SLIDING DOOR THAT OPENS UP TO THE BEDROOM AND BATHROOM ALL THE WAY AT THE BACK END OF THE RV.

12

WHAT IS VITAL AND PRET T Y IMPRESSIVE TO TAKE NOTICE OF IN REGARDS TO THE MECHANISM OF THE BODY OF THE RV IS ITS CAPASIT Y TO EXTRACT AND EXTEND TO COMPARTMENTS ON EITHER SIDE OF THE KITCHEN/LIVING ROOM AREA AND BEDROOM AREA WHEN IN A COMPLETE STAND STILL. THIS MEANS THAT WHEN DRIVING THE BODY IS CONTRACTED TO IS “NORMAL” WIDTH, COMPLETELY LINEAR ON THE OUTER PERIMETER. THEREFORE THE FURNITURE IN RETURN IS EQUIPPED WITH ROLL-OUT/ROLL-IN FUNCTIONALIT Y TO MAKE USE OF EVERY INCH OF THE SPACE.

WE FIND IN THE PL AN DRAWING AN ENTRANCE TO THE FAR UPPER RIGHT, NEXT TO THE COCKPIT, OR DRIVERS AREA.

THE RV IS TRULY MACHINERY OF INNOVATION WITH A HIGH LEVEL OF COMFORTABILIT Y. THE L ARGE SCALE RV IS IN REALIT Y A HOME ON WHEELS, AND IN THAT RESPECT IT IS A “STORAGE ON WHEELS”. THE CHASSIS IS COVERING PLENT Y OF STORAGE UNDER THE FLOOR OF THE BODY, ASIDE ALL THE INTERIOR STORAGE SPACE FROM THE UPPER CLOSET AND SHELVING SYSTEMS, TO THE ROLL-OUT SOFABED THAT IS DESIGNED WITH STORAGE SPACE BENEATH BY K AK A DESIGN (&) PROJECT. THE LINEAR SEATING IS ALSO COVERED WITH FINEST ITALIAN LEATHER. IN THE MIDDLE IS REQUIRED CUP-HOLDER STAND FOR WHEN ON THE MOVE. ALSO IN BET WEEN WALL SOFAS IS A MEDIA-TECH SENTER. THE MEDIACENTER OPERATES A NUMBER OF FUNCTIONS WITH SURROUND SPEAKER SYSTEM INNSTALLED, SEVERAL INPUT+OUTPUT ALTERNATIVES FOR USB, MEDIASTORAGE CARDS, ACCOUSTIC INSTRUMENTAL DEVICES, CELLPHONE BAT TERY RECHARGE, GPS DEVICE AND IT ALSO REMOTE CONTROLS THE FLIP-DOWN CEILING MOUNTED FL AT T V SCREEN.

THE T V-SCREEN IS DESIGNED WITH SHIELD OF BACKLIT ARTGL ASS THAT SLIDES TO THE SIDES AS THE T V IS DROPPED DOWN TO A VERTICAL STAND WHERE ITS POSITION CAN BE ROTATED AROUND ITS OWN A XIS TOWARD WHERE EVER YOUR FIELD OF VIEW IS. THE INTERNET IS YET ANOTHER OF THE ADDITIONS TO PROJECT ON THE SCREEN APART FROM GPS MAPS COMMUNICATED FROM THE “COCKPIT” AREA PER REQUEST. THE BEDFRAME HAS A BUILDT-IN FL ATSCREEN T V ON TOP OF THE VERTICAL THAT SERVICES THE USER WITH A HARDDISK CONNECTED IN THE BASE BELOW FOR DIGITAL STORAGE OF ALL MEDIAS FROM THE INTERNETSOURCES TO DOWNLOADING PHOTOMEMORIES ON-THE-GO. BATHROOM FEATURES ARE BLENDED WITH TECHNOLOGY. CEILING L AMP IS INFUSED WITH LIGTHING OPTICS THAT IN SLOW MOTION FIGURATION CHANGES ITS COLOR SPECTRUM. DESIGNING DISPLAY STANDS FOR THE RETAIL INDUSTRI IS IN MANY WAYS APART FROM THE DISPLAYING OF MERCHANDISE, A DESIGN FOR A TYPE OF MOOD, IN A GIVEN SETTING FOR A CERTAIN IDENTITY PROFILE. IN THAT REGARDS THERE ARE PROGRAMMING STAGES DEDICATED TO USER ANALYSIS, CLIENT PROFILE, EVALUATION OF LOCALITY, DEMOGRAPHIC, FUNCTION, AND TYPE OF MARKED. DISPLAYS ARE FOR COMMERCIAL USE, AND HAS AN INTEGRAL PART IN THE RETAIL MARKETING STRATEGY AND THE DESIGN CONCEPT IS BEST SUITED IF ONE CONNECT THE PROJECT TOGETHER WITH ACCURATE INFORMATION OF RELEVANCE. THE DISPLAY STAND SHOWN HERE IS USED WITH A DIFFERENT COLOR IN THE PROJECT IN THE CAFE/RESTAURANT/DINING SPACE. THE DINING PLACE SELLS COFFEE AND SPICE PRODUCTS WITH SMALL SCALE UTENSILS/HOME EQUIPMENT FOR MAKING COFFEE. THE SHELVING SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO DISPLAY THE SMALLER PRODUCTS THAT ARE ABOUT THE SIZE OF A HAND, AND SOME LARGER.

WHEN CONSIDERING TO USE THIS DISPLAY STAND IN OTHER TYPES OF STORES OR LIBRARIES, THESE SHELVINGS WOULD THEN BE COLOR COATED IN A REGULAR SOLID BLACK, OR OTHER NEUTRAL TONES OF GREYS AND BROWNS, THIS DISPLAY STAND CAN BE FITTED TO DISPLAY BOOKS, AND THINGS LIKE DESIGN COLLECTIONS OF SMALL DECORATIVE HOME PRODUCTS, PURSES OR EVEN SHOES. *ADJUSTMENTS TO ONE PARTICULAR SYSTEM CAN TRANSLATE SOME OF THE SAME PRINCIPLES INTO DISPLAYING VARIOUS SHAPES & SIZED ITEMS.
