Dear Comrades, Another year is almost done and another Veterans day is here. I want to say thank you to all 16 American legion post within this great district for an outstanding Convention this past June in Edward Romero Riverside. Thank you to Post 79 for hosting numerous functions at their Post during Convention, especially to Eddie ‘Deno’ Blankenship for getting and providing the shuttle vans for the entire Convention. “Great Job.” We must never forget what Veterans Day is all about, its about what you my brothers and sisters did for this Great Country of ours. Please continue to work membership and to work our programs within our Post. I would like to also say thank you for allowing me to accomplish something that has not been done since the establishment of this Great District back in 1927, I am the First District Commander to ever serve three terms as your District Commander!! Thank You!! so with that being said, I would love to end this Term with 100% in Membership come next Convention, I know you Post Commanders and 1st Vice Commanders can do this. We also must not forget our Legionnaires, Auxiliary and S.A.L’s that we have lost this past year, keep their families in your prayers. I would like to also thank the rest of our family for doing what you do best and that is serving our Veterans, Children and Youth, Community and our Nation. Thank you Auxiliary, S.A.L’s and our Riders.

Hello my name is Cathy Mc Coy. I am the President of District 21 this year. Our Department President is Loretta Marsh. Her theme this year is “Super Heroes.“ Her motto is “Real Heroes Wear Dog Tags, Not Capes.” The Cathy McCoy District Presidents are “Power Rangers” and the Units Presidents are “Power Rangerettes.” Put your thinking caps on and bring your suggestions to our next meeting. You need a name for your unit theme, we need a motto for the District. One theme I am looking at is “Mighty Twenty-First.” I know that someone will have a better name. The next meeting will be on October 29, 2017 at Post 739 in Indio. This year is just starting so let’s get started with membership. Talk to your neighbors, go to community events and set up a table with applications to join. Answer questions and talk About our programs and how they could help. Work our programs and report on them at the Unit and District levels. If you are having a Problem with them help is only a phone call away. Chairman must meet all your deadlines. If you are late it will make the next chairman Late also. Remember why we are here. We can help the Veterans and their families. We can give scholarship to a student and help him or her to get their dream. We are the best District in California. (Only my opinion) Let’s get started and have fun Doing what we do best. Help our veterans, children, senior citizens, and each other.
