Cancellation and Refunds

To cancel your registration, call (219) 981-4402. No refunds will be given for cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to the start of the course. A 100% refund will be provided for any cancellation made more than 48 hours before a course is scheduled to start.

Certification and Licensing Exams

Ivy Tech cannot guarantee that any student will pass a certification or licensing exam. The goal of providing a certification exam studies course is to assist you in understanding the material sufficiently to provide a firm foundation as you prepare for the exam.

Registration is online at www.ivytech.edu/webregister or by calling (219) 981-4402. You will need a credit/debit card for payment. If you can only pay by check or cash, place your registration by calling (219) 981-4402 and you will be given payment information. All courses must be paid in full before the first course meeting.

We do not have financial aid specific for our courses. However, if you are a current Ivy Tech student and have financial aid available to you, you may be able to use it. HEALTHCARE Computer Technician Training Program How Long Will the Training Take? The Computer Technician training program is designed to be completed in 3 months of full-time study. However, the online format allows you to study on your own schedule and at your own pace, so your enrollment includes 6 months of program access in case you need extra time. What Will I Be Learning? The Computer Technician training program is specifically designed to prepare you for CompTIA A+ certification. The first half of the Computer Technician certification program focuses on the Essentials exam, and the midterm is designed as a mock exam that mirrors the A+ Essentials exam. The second half of the program and the final prepare you for the Practical Application exam. With this specific preparation, you can be confident that you’re gaining the knowledge and skills needed to earn your CompTIA A+ certification immediately upon graduation. Two certification exam vouchers are also provided upon graduation to make it even easier to certify as soon as you graduate. CompTIA A+ certification primarily focuses on Windows operating systems. Health Information Technology is a demanding, growing profession that requires specialized skills. As working, professionals with a background in either Healthcare Information Technology, you are eligible to participate in a 6-month online training program in a collaborative partnership between Ivy Tech Community College/Tri-C, sponsored by the Midwest Training Consortium – a product of the Office of the National Coordinator. Programs: • Practice workflow and information management redesign specialists • Clinician/practitioner specialists • Implementation support specialist • Implementation managers • Technical/software support staff • Trainers Curriculum: • Completed within six months • Curriculum development based on regional groups of faculty from leading universities. • Mostly online (approximately 12 required hours of face-to-face class time). DEMENTIA PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION (DPC) The Alzheimer’s association and Ivy Tech Community College have launched the Dementia Professional Certification (DPC). This certification is the first of its kind and recognizes healthcare professionals that have furthered their study in quality dementia care. To earn a DPC, healthcare professionals must have a total of 40 hours of course work from courses offered through this program. Required courses are as follows:

Dementia Care: Fundamentals of Dementia Care

The Fundamentals of Dementia Care program has been designed to help all staff, but especially personal care staff, understand the basics of dementia care. Topics include an overview of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, implementing person centered care, communication strategies, understanding challenging behaviors, improving activities of daily living, and helping families. Dementia Care: Problem Solving & Challenging Behaviors

The challenges of behaviors of agitation, both aggressive and nonaggressive, are explained. Dementia Care: Understanding Dementia

This course is designed for health care professionals that are either new to the health care industry or who are unfamiliar with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. The diagnostic process, dual diagnosis, and progression of Alzheimer’s disease will be covered. Medications and non-pharmacologic forms of treatment will also be addressed. MSSC Certified Production Technician (CPT)

The Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) developed the Certified Production Technician (CPT) as the industry standard for production workers. CPT is the national certification supported by the National Association of Manufacturers. CPT training enables workers to build core knowledge and skills required in four facets of advanced manufacturing: Safety, Maintenance Awareness, Quality Practices and Measurement, and Manufacturing Processes and Production. Class time includes lecture, Q&A discussion and assessments. Those successfully completing assessments in each of the four areas are awarded CPT certification. Introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

Description: Serves as an introduction to advance topics the field of programmable controllers. Use of the latest technology and software will be stressed. ControlLogix (CompactLogix), Operator Interfaces, and Networking utilizing RSLinx Classic Communications Software will be some of the areas covered. The study of electrical laws and principles pertaining to DC and AC circuits is the focus of this Basic Electricity Course. Solar PV Boot Camp training is a comprehensive program that introduces participants to the fundamentals of solar energy and photovoltaic’s. Ivy Tech Community College is an affiliate of the National Safety Council (NSC) and offers the Defensive Driving Course Four (DDC-4) program in Northwest Indiana. Individuals completing the course will receive a four point credit on their Indiana state record. Classes are held every second Saturday of the month. The cost of the class is $55.00; no walk-ins allowed payment must be made before the day of class. The class starts promptly at 8:00am and ends at 12:30pm.You must bring your License or State ID.
