I have a desire to design and a hunger to succeed. I am determined to accomplish my goals, which are to gain valuable knowledge and understanding of design, to learn new skills and further enhance my creativity. I have set up and managed a cleaning company over the last eight years during which time I have also earned a BTEC in Art & Design with a Double Distinction Grade and am currently working at achieving a BA (Hons) Degree in Interior Design at the University of Bolton. Due to running a company and studying on a full time basis over the last three years, I have developed good time management and organisational skills. An excellent attendance rate on this course demonstrates my determination, diligence and commitment to achieving my ambitions. I am self-motivated but can also work well as part of a team. I am able to communicate my ideas in a clear and concise manner, acting with professional conduct at all times. The degree course has given me a good understanding of the software currently used within the Interior Design industry, including AutoCAD, Adobe CS6 suite, Google Sketch Up and Microsoft Office. These programmes can be used to produce well executed and considered pieces of work and to communicate my design ideas effectively. I have also gained valuable workshop experience and very much enjoy producing 3D models and being able to photograph them in the Photography studios. I recently gave up my free time to help the homeless of Manchester; this was through the Salvation Army Housing Association with a fellow student. We worked voluntary to design the interiors of three buildings providing 40 units of accommodation. This live project produced challenges that were successfully overcome through flexible and innovative ideas, thus providing proof of my ability to work as part of a team to develop successful and cohesive Interior Design schemes. I am also able to balance priorities and deliver on time and budget, whilst working within the parameters of client expectations, timescales and Health and Safety laws. Studying Interior design as well as working has been a challenge, but a challenge I have thoroughly enjoyed. It has allowed me to express my creativity and to develop my creative thinking as well as my abilities. I aspire to become an Interior Designer and would love to have a career in the design industry as I feel this would allow me to fulfil my dreams as a successful designer.
