Session #4 February 14th @ 6:30 pm at Belliveau’s house
Heart Clearing – See the World as it really is So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed every day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, because we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. II Corinthians 4:16-18 To be a fighter in this world you need to be free of the illusions about the kind of world this is. This is not a “be-good-end –all-will be-well” world. To be a fighter you must embrace the world as it is – a dying, insecure, unjust place. You must learn how to live and how to fight when things go badly, when you’re not treated right, when you’re not noticed, when you suffer great losses. Paul describes the world accurately when he says we fight against principalities and powers, against spiritual wickedness. Yet the heart of the fighter need not be filled with life trapping illusions. To recover real power in the world we must face the world as it is, and love the world as God loves it.
To be a mature adult means overcoming any traces of naïveté. It means putting aside false hopes about the security of dying things, the “things that are seen.” You don’t have to live in a world of illusion any more. No matter what happens.
