Mullens Tardis 2014
What a fun and stressful week. It started with me calling HR to find out where our flexible spending card was. She said there was a delay and I told her not to worry, it’s just for new glasses, the kids can wait a month. Five minutes later, David calls me and says his glasses broke. He needs a specific lense that isn’t in the one hour option and so he’s now using contacts. Learning to put them in has been a trial for everyone. Later that night, Dad took us to a special resteraunt to celebrate everyone’s academic success. While watching a you tube video on how to put in contacts, Joely saw “how to create an earth element fairy, and that’s the face paint story lol. Megan’s birthday was Saturday but Joely and I made her a cake on Sunday, the above cute picture is of her when we delivered it, looking at her bestie Keegans New tablet. David had a real rough time on Saturday with the contacts and pulled a Dyllan Mason and slept for 17 hours. He missed standards night, but my handsome Quentin and I went and enjoyed the awkward evening. And the Kale was a fail, nobody liked crunchy spicy Kale Chips, not even the lizard wanted any.
Like I mentioned last week, we don’t have cable, but we’ve all adapted. Some do more homework and bond with Livestock. Others help in the kitchen, I’m so glad to have my budding chef, Quentin. We are all enjoying my Christmas Present from Sue (well one of them) THe Just Dance Game for the Xbox and nothing says family bonding like a game of Risk. This one without tears or bloodshed.

Our good friends the Crockers adopted a baby micro pig, but on;ly for a couple of days. We were Lucky enough to go and take pictures with the wee little pig. I’m not sure why they found her another home but it may have something to don with the litter training. Anyway it was fun to hold a piggy. We love Katie and that even though she’s a junior in high school, works at Arlan’s and has a cute boyfriend, she still finds time to train with Joely. She is a wonderful coach and really inspires a love of the game for Joely.
THE PRICE PUPPIES
THIS WEEK WE HAVE HAD THE HONOR OF TAKING CARE OF NUTELLA”ELLA” THE CHOCOLATE LAB AND HER SISTER AN STRANGE HYBRID OF GOLDEN RETRIEVER AND CHIHUAHUA NAMED BY A THREE YEAR OLD, “COLBY JACK CHEESE” THEY HAVE BECOME A MEMBER OF OUR PACK. COOKIE LIKES THE EXTRA FOOD AND TREATS. WE LOVE THE EXTRA LOVE IT’S BEEN A WIN WIN ALL THE WAY AROUND.
This week was extra awesome because of MLK day, Joely taught us all about love and peace and created a fun craft. Dalton stayed over and we learned a new Mullens Family FUN game, called Deer in the Headlights. It’s a fun fast paced card game and easy to learn. LuLu got into the game as well
Today was one of those great days to be a mom at Church. Brother Henderson joined the church on December 29, and last week he was ordained to the office of a priest. David spoke to him last week to have him come to church early and learn how to prepare and pass the sacrament. Both he and Quentin taught Weyland reverantly how to officiate as a Deacon and Teacher. Then Weyland blessed the water during the meeting, It was beautiful. We have loved his wife Dedra for as long as we’ve lived in Crosby and we share in their joy of the Gospel. I’m so happy that David and Quentin honor their priesthood and are happy to help others learn. They are growing into wonderful young men who keep their covenants. Today will be forever etched in my heart.

snow day january 24 2014
Week four January 22-January 30 Lunch with Joely on wednesday was a highlight, She loves to get a happy meal. I also love to see my little softball girls and get hugs from all of them. We get to sit at a special table and chat for about 25 minutes. Alice’s Faith in God Group, met to have a talent show on Wednesday night, they had a lovely presentation,. Alice showcased one of her art pieces, a hummingbird in action. Lani was a magician, Sophia Danced, Maya sang one of the boys performed tricks on his rip stick and another drew on the chalkboard. To Quote Alice “it was awesome”
Quentin made us breakfast tacos, they were delicious- alice got up and started reading at five am lol The kids wanted me to wake them up and tell them that school was canceled so they kneew that they were sleeping in,. Robert went to work and was safe on the ride there, Joely taught me about Venn diagrams and said I ndid good work, she even gave me a stkcer
Robert and I were Married on January 25 1997. After meeting one year earlier on January 26, Robert picked me up from work on a blind date and we went to Chuys for dinner, It was a magical Friday night and he called me again on Sunday and BEGGED me to go out with him again, because of his work schedule and mine, we met on Wednesday February first and then every wednesday after that- eventually work and school wasn’t important. We spent as much time together as we could. He’s the best and hes till brings me flowers.
All of these pictures were taken within 24 hours. We had a beautiful Monday complete with a walk with Lulu and then the temps dropped and they canceled school for Tuesday- There wasn’t hardly any snow- but we had a blast.
Snow days can’t interfere with taco tuesdays- Joely and I made homemade tortillas on the comal 3 cups flour 2 tsp salt 2 tsp baking powder 3/d cup butter 3/4 cup hot water Combine dry ingredients in a food processor-cut the butter in until it is pea sized. With the processor going, slowly pour hot water until it comes together as dough. Turn the dough onto a lean surface and knead until smooth. Cover it with plastic and let rest 30 minutes. Make 12 same sized balls, and roll them onto a floured surface, Cook on the “comal” for 30-45 seconds and then flip when bubbly-- almost as good as HEB’s
